Sickness

"Get the baby out of here," Felix said as he pointed towards the road that lead away. We were hiding in a group of trees, "I'm going to try and help these people." "I'm helping," I said. I wasn't going to let him do it alone. No, he needed help. "No," he said as he cupped my cheeks, "that baby needs you, Alaina. Please, just protect him and Jade." "Felix-" he stopped me with a kiss. I looked at him with hurt eyes as he stubbornly stared back. Tears threatened to fall as he spun me around, toward the trail. "Alaina," he said sternly, "go." "Fine," I muttered as I lead Jade through the trees right beside the road. I turned and watched Felix run into the fight without a second glance. "Let's go," I said as I tried to stop tears. This wasn't the last one I was going to see him. Most definitely not. *** It would be so much easier with Midnight, Felix thought as he dove away from a blast of fire. These stupid dragon seemed to be able to fight non stop no matter the gashed in their snouts. Felix dove in and out of doorways, helping people get out before their houses burned down. He did his best to distract the dragon otherwise as he ran through the village. There were just too many of them. Alaina said that the high altitude was too much for the dragons. Apparently not for these thick red ones. Felix made his way towards the main building and burst through the door with his sword drawn. Erin was gone and there lay Maximus. "Maximus!" He yelled as he made his way towards his fallen friend. "Im fine,"  he muttered as he struggled to stand. "You don't look it," Felix said as he took in his friends appearance. He had a few cuts here and there but it didn't look too serious. "He left me alive," he said, "why?" The question left Felix with a sense of unease. What did it mean? What if the same thing happened to him like with Fergus? Fergus just had one on one time with Erin. What if Maximus now carried the same 'sickness'? Felix opened his mouth to speak before the sound of a family roar interrupted his thoughts. Oh, Alaina, Felix thought as he raced outside. Their dragons were in the air, taking the fight away from the people. There were, however, no riders on them and Jordan was missing. Alaina probably sent them here and took off with the baby. A smile grew on his face as he whistled for Midnight.
