Sampson POV
When I whispered in Odessa's ear I definitely noticed the shiver that went through her. It made my d**k hard seeing that I had an affect on her. She didn't know what it was but the mate bond was definitely working. I drove home silence as I thought about her. I can't wait to feel her around our co.. Artemis started to say but I cut him off. That definitely won't be happening soon Artemis. We have a lot of figure out first I told him. What's there to figure out? She's our mate, she can give us the pups we need. Problem solved He said.
If anyone was driving past me they would see me glaring at the red traffic light. In all reality I was glaring at my wolf's words. She is more than just a pup factory! I growled at him. Obviously she's more than that but you've been so stressed about what the Elders said Artemis said. I know but she's human we have to take things slow. Plus what will the pack think about the age gap? I asked him. Who the f**k cares? Artemis asked. He had a point, the pack would either accept her and fall in line or they could get the f**k out.
Let's just get to know her for a bit I told him then put a block up. He was driven by the mate bond so he would always fight to be with her. I made it home and crawled into bed I tried to relax but it wasn't happening. Almost like a knew jerk reaction I kept checking my phone. I don't know why, it's not like she would text me or anything. It was clear I wasn't going to be sleeping any time soon so I went downstairs to the kitchen. I grabbed a beer and searched the refrigerator and freezer for something to eat. I settled on pizza bites and set the oven.
I picked up my phone, still nothing. The oven dinged and I put the pan in and set the timer then went back to my phone. I took a long sip of my beer then opened a new text conversation. I typed then deleted it and repeated that process at least five times. "Jesus Sam just send the damn message" I heard Omar say as he took a seat at the island. "What if she's sleeping?" I asked and it caused him to laugh a little. "Then she'll see if in the morning. Damn it's like we're kids again" He said. 'It was really good to see you. Let me know what day works for you to get coffee' I typed out then sent it to Odessa.
The oven timer beeped and I took out the food. I the pizza bites on a plate for Omar and myself. "She still has the wolf" I blurted out. Omar just raised an eyebrow before taking a sip of his beer. "When I met her when she was little I bought her a little wolf stuffed animal" I explained. "She showed me a recent picture and she still has it" I added. "Okay?" Omar said. "Do you think the Moon Goddess knew then that she would be my second chance?" I asked him. "Who knows man" He said. Omar downed the rest of his beer then said good night.
I finished the plate and my beer then went back to my room to try to sleep. Just as I layed my head on the pillow my phone dinged. I looked to see Odessa had texted me back. 'For once I'm glad I got called into work. I'll check my work schedule tomorrow then let you know' She said and I smiled. 'Sounds perfect peaches. Sweet dreams' I sent back and nestled into my pillow finally for a peaceful sleep.

After training the next morning I took a quick shower before going down to breakfast. When I got downstairs everyone was already eating and I quickly sat down. "Looks good" I said as an omega poured me a glass of orange juice. "Thank you" I told her with a smile and she bowed her head slightly. I filled up my plate and dug in. Ever since my birthday dinner I felt lighter like I didn't have a care in the world. I felt my phone buzz in my pocket and I pulled it out. 'Sorry for the late notice but my boss just finalized the schedule. My only day off is today :( ' Odessa said. 'That's fine beautiful. Want to meet up for lunch?' I replied back. 'Absolutely. How about Cafe Leon? One o'clock?' She sent. 'Perfect. See you there peaches' I said.
When I finally looked up from my phone I could see everyone snickering at me. "Shut the f**k up" I said but I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. After breakfast I did some work in my office. Typically the work I was doing would be something Odessa would eventually do. However until she was ready and we were in a good place I would continue the work. I had been doing it for twenty years on my own. I finally noticed the time and quickly went to my room to change. I put on a grey t-shirt and some jeans then made my way to the cafe.
I parked my car and made my way inside and saw her sitting at a table already. Her nose was stuffed into the menu so she didn't see me approaching. "Anything good?" I asked. She jumped a little but smiled at me and I wanted to melt. It was so nice to feel like this again. "Hey" She said standing up to wrap her arms around my waist. I wrapped me arms around her and subtly inhaled her scent as I lent down. "You look beautiful" I said as I took my seat. "Thank you. You look great too" She said.
The waitress came over and took our orders. "So how did you sleep?" I asked her. "Good. I actually had a dream about when we met the first time" She told me. "Really?" I asked her taking a sip of my water. "Yeah it's the first time in forever" Odessa said. "What happened after?" I asked her. Odessa looked at her hands on the table and took a deep breath. I placed my hand on top of hers and heard her gasp a little as the mate bond caused the sparks. She looked up at me and I gave her a small smile. "Hey you don't have to say anything if you don't want" I told her.
"No it's okay. Who knows where I would be if it weren't for you" She said. Her fingers curled around mine as she started to tell her story. "So I don't really remember too much from right after. I bounced around from different foster homes" She started. "Most of them weren't so nice" She added. I could feel Artemis growling in my mind and he wanted desperately to get out. I just wanted to hug her and make her feel safe.
"Then I was taken in by the Gray's. After a few months they actually started the adoption process" She finished. "That's amazing. They treat you well?" I asked. "Yes they're perfect. We always celebrate the day that my adoption was finalized every year" She said. "Really?" I asked her. "Yep it's actually on your birthday" Odessa with with a giggle. "What a coincidence" I said. "I'll be right back. Maybe that will make the food get here" I said. "One can only hope" Odessa said. I made my way to the bathroom then came back to see a guy standing at the table talking to my mate.
She seemed a little uncomfortable. Kill him! Artemis growled in my head. I walked forward and could hear the guy asking Odessa for her phone number. "No thanks" I heard her saying. "Come on we'd look good together" The guy say. I stepped up and put my hand on her shoulder. "I believe she said no" I said glaring at the guy. He looked from her to me and back before holding his hands up. "Sorry girl didn't realize you were with your dad" He said before walking away. That was like a punch to the gut but I didn't want to dwell on it. "Sorry but I have to go. One of my employee's called and there's an issue at the office" I told her.
It was a stupid excuse but if some random human thought I was her dad what would my pack members think? Hell what would the elders or other packs think when they came to visit? "Oh no I hope everything is okay" She said. "It'll be okay" I said and bent down to kiss her cheek. "I'll text you" I said with a small smile and walked out the door. The drive home was silent as I sat and stewed in my insecurities. When I got home Eva was sitting in the living room scrolling through her phone. When she hear me come in she smiled "Hey" She started to say until she saw my face. "What happened?" Eva asked concerned. "Someone thought I was her dad" I admitted then went to my room.
