Rena sucked in a breath at Shawn’s words, and her heart fell to her stomach. “Shawn, I didn’t do it!” she cried out. She couldn’t believe that he would betray her like this, and how quick he was to lose his faith in her. She watched Shawn look over to Sarah, and his expression softened slightly. “Sarah, can you forgive Rena, just this once?” he asked her. Sarah put on a show of looking back and forth between Rena and Shawn before she sighed dramatically. “Okay.” In her mind, her response would do two things: give Shawn a better impression of her for being so forgiving, and convince him even further that Rena was the one who stole the phone.
