"MATE"
Ella suddenly could see again. Jake was standing before her, frozen in place.
"What did you say?" He dropped the table and took a step in her direction.
Ella spoke without trying. She had no control over her own mouth. "MATE" came a deep smooth voice from within her.
Jake hurried to her. Ella realized what was going on. Jake was her mate. She found her goddess given mate. Her heart bubbled up with happiness and she stood to meet his embrace.
"Shhhhh! NO NO NO! Do not say that to anyone." Jake walked up and put his hand over her mouth. Ella felt tingles from the touch. She backed up. "Quiet. Someone will hear you." Ella's heart sank into her shoes. Her eyes grew wide and began to fill with tears.
