Belle
The house of sins…. The name had made me think of something darker, more grand. The kind of thing you saw in a slasher movie right before a ditsy female ran around screaming and got herself slaughtered.
What I got was…. Normal.
Just a normal house, slightly set back from the road. But all in all it was exactly the same as every other house on the street.
It was kind of disappointing.
And yet somehow it didn’t make me feel better. If anything the normalcy of it set my nerves on edge even more. Which was absurd.
I had nothing to be a afraid of, it was just a party. A perfectly normal thing to do when uoh went away to schools. Unless of course I listened to Abi’s warnings.
What if I was being lured here because someone wanted to hurt me? What if….
My thoughts were cut off as my name was called from the open doorway. “Bella.”
I jumped, I couldn't help it. My heart thundered against my ribs. But a smile grew on my face as I lifted my hand and gave the man grinning at me a little wave.
Red hair, stupidly handsome face.
“Hi Jasper.” I trotted towards him. His friendly face all I needed to make the decision to actually go to the party and not hover like a sad loner.
“Come on Bella, now you are here. The party can really begin.”
It was a party. Loud music, people dancing more than one person already stumbling around drunk. Almost instantly I felt out of place, out of my depth . Like a fish out of water.
It was the noise.
I had never really been one for loud crowded places , I preferred quiet solitude. Every atoms of my being wanted to turn tail and run back out of the door. I wouldn’t because this was part of university life that I wanted to experience. And that meant I had to stay.
Jasper had disappeared into the crowd already dancing in little groups in the middle of the living room. His red head disappearing into the sea of bodies.
For a second I didn’t know what to do. So I just stood there. Hovering in the door way . My eyes taking it all in. I forced myself to move into the room. Skirting my way around the dancing bodies I headed toward a dark corner.
At least there I could be alone , without actually being alone.
“Hey.”
The voice was deep, smooth and definitely Male. It was also familiar. “Look where you are going?”
“Drake?” I squeaked as cool hands closed around my upper arms.
“Bella?” His chuckle was dark, goosebumps erupted all over my body. Every single hair stood on end. “Well I didn’t think I would find you here.”
I opened my mouth to ask him why he didn’t think I would be here when his fingers tightened. He pulled me further into the shadows. My body bumping against his.
I squeaked again as my breasts crushed against his chest.
“What are you doing?”
For a moment he didn’t say a word. Just stared down at me. His eyes in fathomable. And then he dipped his head.
“Stop.” I pushed against his chest. Sure that he was about to kiss me. “I have a boyfriend.”
“I think she said stop.”
I tumbled backwards , squeaking again .
“I think you should mind your business dog breath.” Drakes voice was icy.
It seemed an odd insult to throw at someone . Especially when the breath that was wafting across my face was minty fresh.
“I wasn’t going to kiss you Bella.” Drake laughed. “I mean you are hot and all but not my type. I just wanted you to know you have the sins undivided attention.” He pointed. And I followed his gaze.
I didn’t know who the sins were but I was betting on the group of boys that Jasper was currently with. They were all staring across the room at me like I was a cockroach under a microscope. They didn’t even try to hide it.
And neither did the girl with them.
The way Jasper kept glancing at her , she couldn’t be anyone but the infamous Faith.
“And that’s never a good thing.” Drakes voice lowered. “In fact Faith is on her way over here right now. Which it’s my time to leave.” He dipped his head again. “She’s into things too strange even for me, but hey if that’s what gets you going then have at it girl. Personally I couldn’t have fun with six other guys and a girl.” He held up his hands, palm outwards. “But if that’s your thing I won’t judge.” He winked and his voice rose. “And if you want to get rid of dog breath over there just throw a tennis ball or something.”
