1026 Words
Laura had just left the grocery store when a black car stopped before her. A man came out and bowed his head in front of Laura. "Don't talk here. Let's get inside the car," Laura ordered the man, which he immediately followed. "Miss Laura. It's been three years since you left the Davis Family!" The man informed her when they sat at the back of the car. "Master Jacob needs you to run your family company!" he added. "Tell Grandpa that I will come back after five days," Laura replied. "But. We badly need you right now, Miss Laura. I know you already know what is happening to Master Jacob, don't you?" "Yes, I know. Don't worry. If I tell my husband my true identity, I will go to Grandpa, and we will stay with him," Laura assured. "If that's what you want, Miss Laura, there's nothing we can do. All we ask is that you return to the Davis Family." "If you don't say anything more, I have to leave. Tell Grandpa that I miss him so much!" Last words of Laura before she got out of the car. Laura carried the vegetables and meat she bought into their house with Daniel, her husband. When she entered, she saw her mother-in-law sitting on the couch. She was talking to a woman. "You're here!" Laura looked at Carol, her mother-in-law. Carol stood up. She quickly walked closer to Laura, and suddenly, she slapped her hard. "Slap!!" Laura grabbed her right cheek because of what her mother-in-law did. "Did you get on an airplane to buy some goods, Laura? You've been gone for over an hour!!" Carol asked. "Don't treat me like this, Mom. We have a visitor," Carol looked at the female visitor, "I would like to inform you that Nancy is not a visitor! She is part of the family!!" Laura frowned because of what Carol said. She knew Nancy, the woman who left Daniel when he had nothing to be proud of. 'What is she doing here?' "Aunt, I'm going to leave first and come back when Daniel is here," Nancy spoke. "No, Nancy. Don't leave, please. If anyone needs to leave, Laura should!" Carol stopped Nancy. "This girl!!" Carol pointed her finger at Laura. "This girl did nothing but torture Daniel!! She is useless!" Carol added, her eyes were like daggers looking at Laura. "When Daniel comes, I will tell him immediately to file a divorce with her!" "I can't imagine that Daniel married this girl! She doesn't come from a rich and powerful family! And according to my investigation, she comes from a small village in the countryside!" Carol continued. "During the more than three years she and Daniel were married, she was just here at home. Not helping Daniel! She didn't know anything else to do but house chores!" Carol looked down on Laura. "If you hadn't left, Nancy, to Europe to study, Daniel would have married you," "Daniel should not have been tied to a girl who takes advantage of our family, a girl who is miserable like her!" "No other woman who deserves Daniel but you, Nancy!" Laura calmed herself. Laura used to hear those words from her mother-in-law about her, but even so, Laura didn't leave. Instead of answering Carol, Laura decided to make their lunch. She took the vegetables and meat she bought to prepare, but Carol was annoyed by what she did. Carol approached Laura and grabbed her hair, "How dare you insult me, Laura!!" "Is that what you're going to pay for living here?" Carol asked. "You have no respect!" Carol shouted angrily. Laura held Carol's hand, "Mom, it hurts! Please stop!" She begged, but Carol seemed like she didn't hear anything. "It's just something for you to learn! Don't ever insult me!!" Carol replied angrily. "Stop, Mom!" Laura yelled back. Laura sat on the floor when Carol threw her. "Next time, if you don't respect me, get out of this house!" Laura was about to stand up from sitting on the floor when Carol took her hand using her feet. "Mom!!" Laura yelled in pain. "You insult me one more time. I'll drag you out of this house! I'll make sure you never come back!" Carol threatened Laura. They were in such a scene when Daniel suddenly arrived. "Laura!!" Carol quickly thought of a way so that her son would not think badly of her. "Ahhh!" She pretended that Laura had pulled her feet. She fell on the floor. Daniel quickly ran to his mother, and Nancy supported Carol. "What do you think you are doing, Laura!" Daniel questioned her. "How could you treat my mom like this!" "Daniel, it's not like what you think," Laura replied, trying to defend herself. "I was going to help her stand because Laura slipped, but she pulled my feet," Carol acted to get Daniel's sympathy. Daniel looked at Laura evilly. "Don't be mad at Laura, Daniel. If I weren't here, she wouldn't have attacked me," Nancy interfered. "You'll do that thing, Laura?" Daniel asked his wife in disbelief. "I'm just going to leave so there's no more trouble," she added. "Don't leave, Nancy, stay here. It's not your fault," Carol stopped her. "Laura knows that you are Daniel's first love, so she wants to hurt you, but don't worry, we will take care of you. Just don't leave," Carol pleaded. Laura frowned because of what she heard. "Apologise to Nancy and my Mom, Laura!" Daniel ordered his wife. "Why should I? I'm not doing anything bad to them," Laura nodded. "You didn't do anything wrong because you slipped! If you hadn't slipped, you would have hurt Nancy!" Carol yelled at her. "I can't believe you can do that, Laura!" Daniel said to Laura in disbelief. "Stand there and sort yourself out!" Daniel told her. "We will go out, and when I return, we'll talk!" He added. Nancy and Carol grinned while looking at Laura. "We'd better go outside, Daniel, so you and Nancy can have a good conversation," Carol agreed. "Yeah, it's been more than two years since we talked, Daniel. I really missed you!" Nancy said.
