9. Hallucination

802 Words
Alexa's Pov- Diego keeps dragging me but I stop in mid-way and again look behind to watch the horror. My mouth wide open as my breath leaves my lungs at a faster pace. My chest heaving up and down as I watch the birds dying in front of me. I don't understand what is happening. Am I dreaming? Yes, it has to be a dream. How can it be true?  So, I close my eyes and scream on top of my lungs in hope that I'll wake up and it'll be all over. I feel someone tug at my arm and pull me hard. My face lands on a hard chest and my hands remain on my side. The person presses my face in his chest more while tears start streaming down my face. I soon start sobbing and suddenly the mass of wind surrounds us as it did to me before. I look up to find Diego holding me tight in his embrace with a concerned look on his face. I look around to find all the trees bent down with the force of the wind. My hairs creating a mess as I again hide in Diego's chest.  After ten minutes of wild experience and horrifying sounds of the wind, everything calms down. I pull away from Diego and my eyes instantly fall where I saw the birds dying. I frantically check its surface but I can't find anything. There is not even a trace of a feather! But how is that possible!? I clearly saw the birds collapsing on the ground. "Where... where are the birds?" I ask. "What birds? They fly and rest on tree branches." Diego says with furrowed eyebrows.  "No. Where are the dead ones?" I ask him. "Dead ones? What are you talking about?" He asks baffled. 'Why doesn't he understand? Am I speaking any other language!?' "The ones who died here! They collapsed on the ground! Didn't you see!" I yell at him without giving it a thought. "You don't get to yell at me like that." He says in a calm tone that makes me realize that I and my friends are practically living here at his mercy. He is being generous enough to let us stay in the castle and here I just shouted at him. Is there anyone with manners less than me? "I'm really sorry, Diego. I'm really sorry for shouting at you! I don't know why I yelled at you but I just wanted to know where did the birds go?" I say altogether. "There are no dead birds here, Alexa. You just hallucinated. We were walking silently while talking and then suddenly you screamed and started running. I had to catch you to know the reason." He says and I still can't believe this. When did I start seeing things? And at that, these horrible things. "I'm... I'm really sorry, Diego. I don't know, I just... I just saw it... I..." I say. "Hey! Hey! Hey! There is nothing to be sorry about, okay? It's alright." He says and places a kiss on my forehead. I freeze at the gesture and try my best to compose myself like it doesn't matter when it damn does! My heart is fluttering at his action. "Umm... thank you," I mutter. "For?" He asks. "Umm... I don't know. For getting me out of my hallucination?" I say and we both chuckle. "Well, I don't think it'll be good to stroll now since you might need to be back with your friends." He says. "No. We can roam a little bit." I say.  "Well then, that little bit will be our way back to the castle." He says.  "Yeah," I say and he holds my hand again. We turn around, ready to make our way back to the castle.  'Just a few days and the first thing I'll do is get my head checked. Weren't nightmares enough?'  We walk in a peaceful environment with a slow breeze making my hair flutter and the trees standing tall. I look down and walk as I see my boots crush small soil beads. It is so unreal to walk beside a person... no, that would be an injustice if I put Diego in the common category. So, It is so unreal to walk beside a tall man with broad shoulders and absolutely amazing features! His eyes are always searching for something. His nose is perfect and his lips have just the right plumpness to them.  We soon reach the castle where I don't choose to tell any of my friends about what happened back where we went. I'd tell Desmond when we'll be alone. I just hope none of it ever happens to me again. I just want to get over with the twin's birthday and leave...
