10. Another weird encounter

Alexa's pov-

It was night soon enough as the day went by with me gathering as much information about the castle and Diego answering all my questions with patience. He seems to know a lot about his great grandfathers! He even knows a lot about that time! The art carved in the walls of the castle and the lifestyle of the people from those days. Well, he must have grown up listening to the tales of his great grandfathers. 

"You need to eat, Alexa." I hear Diego say bringing me out of my thoughts. 

"Yeah... sorry about that. I was just lost somewhere." I say smiling.

"You shouldn't think about something else while you eat. Don't stress your mind." He says and I roam my eyes over everyone to find all my three friends staring between me and Diego. We all are sitting here at one dining table having dinner. I don't know how many men and women did Diego bring with himself that one wing of the whole castle has been cleaned. And even if it is just one wing... then it is not JUST. Even one wing here, of this castle, is so so big. I don't think I'll be able to explore it fully in the time I stay here. And that is just three more days. 

"Yes. I'll... I'll eat now." I again say smiling and put a piece of food in my mouth. It explodes and I control myself from moaning out loud. Seriously! How did he manage to get this food!? But halfway eating and I feel like I'm being watched. I lift my head and find my three friends staring at me including Diego who has a smirk on his face. 

"Whwat?" I speak with my mouth full of food.

"Stop moaning, Alexa!" Desmond chides me and I quickly look down before widening my eyes in embarrassment. 'Oh come on! Can't you even eat your food without embarrassing yourself? Pull yourself together, Alexa!' I speak to myself before taking a tissue and wiping my mouth. 

Five minutes more and I again feel uncomfortable. Like someone is watching me. I stop chewing the food and try to remember if I've been again moaning. Nope. But I can still feel eyes on me. And the gaze feels hot on my skin. I lift my head again to find Brett and Rhett fighting over a piece of mushroom and Desmond eating his food quietly. But Diego is nowhere to be found. Where is he? Where did he go? Where could he go? He doesn't look like someone who'd just leave dinner without announcing his departure. And also, he is the one who organized it then where could he go without telling anyone of us? And if he did inform then why didn't I hear? 

AGHHH!!!

I turn to Desmond, ready to ask him about Diego.

"Come here..." A voice startles me and I flinch back gasping. What the f**k was that!? There is no one behind me but the voice sounded from somewhere really close. 

"Alexa? What happened?" Desmond asks me.

"I... I... um... Ahm... Where is ...Diego? Where is Diego?" I ask.

Desmond looks around and realizing that I'm correct, his frown gets deeper.

"He is not here. Probably went for something but I didn't see him going anywhere else." He says and my head suddenly turns to the right. I don't know why but I felt like seeing there. And my heart now desires to go there. 

"Where are you going now?" Desmond asks me and I realize I've started pushing my chair out in order to get up. 

"I... I'll check up on him," I say getting up.

"Why? What is it, Lex? You seem really close to Diego in just a few hours." Rhett says.

"Because we strolled together. That is just it. And I just feel like checking upon him." I say and start moving out of the room.

"Wait. I'll come too." I hear Desmond say and soon he is by my side. 

"You shouldn't go out at night alone, or someone would come and eat you up." He says holding my hand.

"Like I am a two-year-old, right?" I say.

"You are worst than that." He says before we move out together, leaving our two friends alone.

As we walk and come out on the balcony, my eyes widen again seeing Diego standing in the moonlight with a black cat in his hand. And he is not just holding it but he is holding it upside down! And the cat is crying out in pain! He is staring at the cat as if it's the last meal on the Earth!

What the f**k!
