CHAPTER 3
I hadn’t planned on coming back to Dominic’s pack house, not after the guards had dragged me out, leaving me bruised and broken.
But here I was, standing in front of the place that had once felt like home—one last time.
Part of me knew I shouldn’t have returned, but I couldn’t shake the desperate hope that maybe, just maybe, there was some explanation for all of this.
But as I stood there, steeling myself to push through those doors, my heart shattered all over again when I saw Morgana approaching.
The smirk on her face told me that this encounter would be anything but pleasant.
“Well, well,” Morgana sneered, crossing her arms as she looked me up and down, “I didn’t think you’d actually have the nerve to come back here, Clara. Not after the scene you made.”
I clenched my fists, biting back the anger building in my chest. “I came here to get answers, Morgana. I need to know why Dominic would… why he would do this.” My voice wavered, but I held her gaze, refusing to look away.
She chuckled, her laugh as cold as ice. “Oh, sweet, naive Clara,” she said, her eyes gleaming with malice. “You still think this was all about love, don’t you?”
I swallowed, fighting back the fear threatening to consume me. “We had something real, Morgana. He wouldn’t just throw me away like that.”
Morgana raised an eyebrow, clearly amused by my words. “Real? Is that what you think last night was? A romantic moment between two soulmates?”
She shook her head, her gaze mocking. “Poor, foolish Clara. Dominic only wanted one thing from you, and you handed it over without a second thought.”
The words hit me like a punch, and I could feel the color draining from my face. “You’re lying.”
“Am I?” Morgana leaned in close, her voice dropping to a whisper that dripped with malice. “Dominic never loved you, Clara. You were just a plaything to him, something he could conquer. All he wanted was to… well, let’s just say he was curious about how an omega like you might taste in bed.”
My hands started to shake as her words sank in, each one slicing deeper into my heart. “No,” I whispered, barely able to get the word out as tears filled my eyes. “He told me… he told me he loved me.”
Morgana rolled her eyes, as if I were a naive child. “Dominic staged the whole thing, Clara. That little scene you saw, where he ‘rejected’ me? All an act. He knew you’d be watching, and he knew you’d fall for it. Honestly, it’s pathetic how easily you believed him.”
I felt as if the ground were slipping away beneath me.
Everything I thought I knew, every tender word he’d whispered, every promise he’d made—none of it had been real.
I’d given him everything, my heart, my trust… my virginity. And it had all been a lie.
The rage that built inside me was unlike anything I’d ever felt before.
Without thinking, I lunged at Morgana, my hands reaching for her throat. “You! You knew everything, and you just…”
But before I could get close, rough hands grabbed me from behind, yanking me back.
The guards had seized me, holding my arms in a bruising grip as I struggled against them, my vision blurred with tears and fury.
“Get off me!” I screamed, trying to break free, but their grip was like iron.
Morgana let out a satisfied laugh, stepping back as she straightened her hair, pretending to look shaken. “Oh, Clara,” she said, her voice full of fake sympathy, “I knew you were desperate, but attacking me? Now you’re really crossing a line.”
“Let me go!” I spat, thrashing against the guards. But Morgana only smirked, clearly enjoying every moment of my humiliation.
She turned to one of the guards and whispered something. I could hear her words, sharp and filled with venom. “Head over to Dominic. Tell him that this little omega dared to attack his Luna.”
My heart stopped at her words. Luna. He had truly given her that title, the one he’d promised me. The guards nodded and one of them hurried off to deliver her message.
As I was held there, struggling against the guards’ grip, a sick feeling settled in my stomach. Dominic wouldn’t let this happen—would he?
Moments later, the guard returned, giving Morgana a quick nod. “Alpha Dominic has granted you authority to handle this situation as you see fit, Luna Morgana.”
The words felt like a knife twisting in my heart. I stared at the guard, then at Morgana, unable to comprehend the betrayal.
Morgana's smirk widened, and she took a step closer, her voice dripping with triumph. “You heard him. Dominic has made his decision, and it doesn’t include you, Clara. Consider yourself… banished from this pack. Go back to your pack and never return. You’re nothing now, in fact, less than nothing.”
“No,” I choked, my voice barely a whisper as the reality of the situation sank in. “He wouldn’t… Dominic wouldn’t do this to me…”
Morgana laughed, and the sound was sharp and cruel. “Oh, but Dominic just did. Now get her out of here.”
The guards dragged me out, my heart breaking with every step, but the pain was nothing compared to the hollow emptiness consuming me inside.
Dominic had used me, humiliated me, and discarded me, as if I’d been nothing but a tool for his pleasure.
As the guards threw me out of the pack house, I stumbled to the ground, my knees scraping against the rough stones.
I looked back one last time in tears, hoping, praying that he’d come out, that he’d tell me this was all some twisted misunderstanding.
But he never came.
And as I lay there sobbing, my heart shattered beyond repair, I knew one thing for certain.
Dominic had destroyed me.
And someday, somehow… I would surely make him regret it.
