REI’S POV:
We had jumped into the Calen’s car and he started the engine. “I still don’t understand.” Calen started to complain. “How could I forget about my mate? How long do I know you?” The first question was directed to Rosie but then he turned to me. “These woods are my home. You met me the moment you had moved your pack to this woods.” I answered him. I didn’t know myself how I felt about this situation so I understood that he was confused. Not everyday you wake up and get information that someone you don’t remember at all is your mate.
“Well,” Rosie exhaled loudly. “This would be for a very long story if I am supposed to explain this. Let’s just say your little mate is someone very special with unique abilities.” Rosie said and Calen gave me scanning eyes as he was looking at me from head to toe. “She is a witch like you?” He asked and I noticed that he was suspicious about me. I realized that for him, it was the first time to see someone with my silvery white hair below my waist and on top of that my glowing golden eyes. Living with him all those moths made me actually forget that for a wolf I was looking especially weird and dubious.
“No. I am a wolf.” I replied strongly, crossing my arms in front of me. “You don’t look like one.” He commented on scanning me once again from head to toe. “You don’t like it?” I asked him. I was worried and afraid of what he might say. If he would say yes, then I guessed I would be fine because it would mean that my strange look is really attractive for him not only because of our mate bond, but because he really liked it. That’s why I was so afraid that he might reply no. He was looking at me from his front seat right beside the driver and I was slowly starting to feel uncomfortable from his gaze.
“You don’t look like a wolf but I can’t say I don’t like it. It is just different.” He replied to me in the end and felt confused. It was definitely a neutral question and I was trying to figure out whether it meant that he liked it or not. I mean, he said he couldn’t say he disliked it but that necessarily didn’t mean that he liked it either.
“Very diplomatic answer.” Rosie teased him and with her answer I also felt hurt. “I am sorry. What else was I supposed to say? Your appearance has some sort of magic and it’s alluring but it is also unlike anything I had ever seen. You look like you are not from this world.” Calen tried to defend himself and the words he said were not bad, at least I knew he didn’t mean it badly. I could feel his emotions radiating from him as he was afraid to hurt me but at the same time I sensed that he was allured by my appearance.
“That’s much better.” Rosie uttered and destroyed everything I sensed coming from Calen. He closed himself once again. “Either way. I can already see that she is special but what does that have to do with my memories and actually with the memories of everyone in my pack.” He asked again and I could hear the distress and urge in his voice. He wanted to solve this quickly, the same as I wanted.
“There are actually two possibilities. Sure you remember where you were one month ago and also why you were there” It sounded like Rosie already knew something more than she shared with us. “Yes. Actually I remember everything since we came to this land, including the battle. There are memories that are a little blurry but other than that I don’t feel like something is missing.” Calen explained and this last information stabbed me into my heart. He didn’t feel like I was missing in his life. His heart didn’t recognize that something important was torn away from his. “From what I understand the only missing memories are those of her and probably those strongly related to her.” Rosie continued without paying much attention to me and my feelings. “Probably.” Calen answered not really sure whether it was true or not since he actually did not remember what he lost.
“From what you already told me.” Rosie turned to me with her other comments. “You had a dream which someone made you either use your voice command in the spirit world which would mean that actually everyone in the pack was literally ordered by you to forget or the one behind it was somehow Isaac and he used a memory spell to erase you from their memories.” Rosie’s explanation made sense. Both options were possible but since I didn’t remember my dreams I could not say whether the second option was right or not.
We were almost at the pack land and I noticed less people standing at the gate guarding. “Why is the number of guards lower than normal?” I asked and Calen didn’t look like sharing this information with me.
“Can you fix it?” He turned his head to Rosie instead and asked her about the solution of this problem. “Maybe. If it's the work of Isaac then probably yes. If you forgot because Rei ordered you to, then I am afraid only she can undo her command and make you remember again.” Rosie’s voice sounded very important and I started to feel the pressure on me. I somehow hoped that it was not me who made this mess because that would actually mean that I was not able to control myself and my own emotions. What if I would do something like that again in the future only because my unconscious wished so.
Driver pulled the car beside the packhouse and we got out of the car and headed inside right into the Calen’s office. He probably informed Zack and Andrew because they both were waiting for us in the office. “Welcome back Rosie.” They welcomed her like it was normal for her to be here but none of them actually paused about the reason why she was here so often and why they all knew about the witch beside their pack. So far the relationship between werewolves and witches was still not good but they didn’t care about it at all.
“Long time no see.” Rosie said with a smile on her lips and they both smiled at her back. “Why don't you consider this strange? She is a witch and you are werewolves. It should be suspicious. How do you know her? Why do you have a witch coming to your pack?” I blurted out almost angrily. They should be more concerned about this but they literally didn’t care.
“She is right about that.” Rosie was surprisingly on my side with this and I noticed that the expression on Zack’s, Andrew’s and even on Calen’s face changed as they tried to think about what I had just said. To my shock they looked like they were in pain while thinking about that. Something was seriously blocking their memories and was able to inflict pain the same moment they started to doubt it.
