Chapter 2

Callahan POV:

I was standing there surrounded by females, I guess they were hoping they were my mate? I know I should have been primarily focused on the beauty surrounding me but I could not stop thinking about Taylor. I was hoping Taylor would get here so I could grab her up and have her by my side so these girls would leave me alone, Yeah i know I slept with some of them, alright most of them, but i told them it was just s*x,that's all.I guess that did not get that through their heads, I always tell them to leave once we are done, i never asked them to stay the night and i didn't want them to get their hopes up! I saw Taylor come through the doors, she looked so beautiful, my cat was purring, i rolled my eyes.

“Dude calm down, Taylor isn’t our mate, at least I don’t think she is,not until we shift tonight.”

“Callahan, I've told you that I felt a connection. Keep her close by and find out, keep these w***e$ away from us, they are only wanting the power! They want the title of queen for themselves.”

‘Alright Bane, just keep your claws in okay.” I walked toward Taylor, grabbing her onto the dance floor. After a while, we walked to one of the nearby mini bars to grab a drink.

What do you know, once again females crowded around us wanting to stand by my side and try to push Taylor away.She stood her ground for awhile, I saw mom come into the hall, Taylor waved her over and once she made her way to us the girls bowed their heads out of respect and walked away. I was so thankful that mom walked over, I hate crowds like that; We sang happy birthday, ate cake, had a few drinks then mom told me she was calling it a night. I knew she was missing dad, he was only gone for a few days, he will be back soon and then he would tell me everything that happened at the border. I knew he had a few meetings as well, it’s the reason why he would be gone for a couple of days of course.

“Callahan, I'm getting a little tired so I'm going to go ahead and head home, i hope your night goes well and you find your mate.”

I really did not want her to go, I even tried to talk her out of it by asking her to stay for another hour, but she was adamant about not staying any longer.I was thinking she just didn’t want to stay and find out she wasnt my mate that someone else was. I understood completely, Because if it was her night and I found out I wasn't her mate, I would be upset as well. I would have done the same thing. I walked her to the door and leaned down wanting to kiss her on the lips, but instead I kissed her forehead then her cheek. I told her to be careful while heading home even though she lived in the castle with us. I still wanted her to be careful. I missed her as soon as she walked out the door!

Taylor and I have been friends since we were kids. After awhile our friendship grew into something more. I really liked her. I couldn’t stop thinking about when i had her in my bed underneath me, i was so close, but she stopped me. I knew she was right when she said what would happen if we weren't mates. One of us would get hurt, but i still missed her when she walked out of that door. I felt like she was walking out of my life permanently. I really hope that is not what she intends on doing. I walked back into the party and made my way to the mini bar, I needed to have a few drinks if I were to enjoy this night. After some time i was having fun but in the back of my mind i was still thinking of Taylor. Why can I not get her out of my head?

I shifted at midnight and we all went for a run, hunting down an elk or two. When we got back to the kingdom i shifted back to my human self putting on a pair of shorts. I stood there looking at each and everyone of them, i felt nothing and smelled not one scent that would drive me crazy. I knew i did not find my mate tonight, i was okay with that. maybe in a few weeks i will, who knows? I was a little sadden about it, but the moon goddess did not grant me one. The night has ended and the party was over so i went home and took a long cold shower. By the time i got out i was tired and went into my room to lay down on my bed and crash. Someone was in my room! It took me a minute to realize that it was Tabby. I rolled my eyes at her, i knew she wanted to be queen and there was no chance in h3ll she was going to be my queen! All she wanted was power and the name, but it wouldn't hurt to have some fun with her.

“What do you want, Tabby? I am tired so you have five seconds to tell me why you are in my room.”

I saw her smirk at me with the towel around my waist, her eyes went down then slowly went back up to my face. She always knew how to turn me on. I really was not in the mood for this tonight, she really needed to hurry up and spit it out!

“I’m sorry, i didn't mean to intrude, but i noticed you didn't find your mate tonight. maybe i could keep you company?”

I watched as she moved closer to me, i knew what she wanted and if she wanted it i would give it to her; but i'm still not going to mark her, i don't want her as a mate. If i was going to choose a mate i dam* sure am not going to choose her. she pushed me on the bed and straddled me, suddenly i felt sick, her scent made me want to vomit! There was no way I was going to do this, not with her, I pushed her off of me onto the floor. I didn't mean for that to happen! But it did. I got off the bed looking down at her.

“Tabby, you need to leave, i am not making you my mate, and that's my final word,”

“Callahan, You need a strong mate one that will make a strong queen,”

“I will chose when i want to chose, if i was going to make a decision right now, it definitely would not be you, now get out of my room!” She huffed, storming out. i made sure I locked my door, i didn't want anymore visitors tonight and I sure as h3ll did not want anyone coming in here trying to mark me as hers. I was getting sick of this, I might just have to choose a mate, that would be easier.As long as it was NOT Tabby. Yeah she's good in bed and all but she is not fit to be the queen.
