As my consciousness slowly regaining back into my weary mind, I found myself enveloped in warmth and softness bed. Blinking my eyes open, I was met with the sight of a large, elegant bedroom bathed in the golden glow of morning sunlight streaming through the windows. The room was richly adorned with plush furnishings and opulent décor, a stark contrast to the modest surroundings I had grown accustomed to.
Where the hell am I? And how did I ended up being here? What happened yesterday?
As I recall the events from yesterday, the only thing that gained baack to my memory, is Mason’s rage just because he saw me eating with Trsitan… And his eyes glowing in yellow… And his fangs, that he used to bit me on the neck.
As I realized what had Mason did to me, I touched my neck as soon as I can to check out the bite mark, but I couldn’t figure out if he did really bit me, or if there’s a mark of his teeth on my neck, without seeing it myself. I panicked due to fear of what would happen next to me. But suddenly, that panicked feeling rush and turned into rage when I saw Mason leaning on the wall, watching over me. His presence was like a dark cloud looming over me, suffocating me with fear and uncertainty.
“Mason…” My raspy voice called him.
"You're awake."
I wanted to scream, to lash out at him with all the pent-up rage and frustration swirling inside me. But my body felt heavy and sluggish, as if weighed down by invisible chains that tethered me to the bed.
"What... what did you do to me?" I managed to choke out, my voice barely above a whisper. Mason's expression remained impassive, his eyes dark and unreadable. "I had to protect you," he replied cryptically. "You were in danger."
"In danger from what? From you?" I retorted, my voice rising with each word. "You're the one who attacked me, who bit me!"
Mason's eyes flashed with something akin to regret, but it was gone in an instant, replaced once again by that impenetrable mask of indifference. "I didn't mean to hurt you," he said quietly. "But you needed to know the truth."
"The truth about what?" I demanded, my frustration boiling over. "About Marissa? About Tristan? About whatever twisted game you're playing with my life?"
Mason's gaze softened, his eyes locking onto mine with an intensity that sent shivers down my spine. His eyes… I could only see it in glowing yellow. "I'm not playing games, Elena," he said earnestly. "I'm trying to protect you. To keep you safe from forces you can't even begin to comprehend." I wanted to believe him, to trust that his intentions were pure. But every instinct in my body screamed at me to run, to flee from this man and everything he represented. I never thought he could do that to me.
"I don't need your protection," I spat, my voice trembling with anger. "I need answers. And I won't rest until I get them." Mason's expression hardened, his jaw clenching with frustration. "You're making a mistake, Elena," he warned. "You have no idea what you're up against, and what they are planning, against you.”
I am not getting anything from him, I couldn’t understand him! What danger is he talking to? Who is he talking about? Tristan?
“Your eyes… It glowed.” I opened as I can’t resist staring blankly right back to his eyes. “And… You had fangs. It marked me.” My voice is trembling from confusion and fear. “How…”
He slowly walk towards me, and every steps he take, a sense of unease gnawed at my insides, whispering of dangers yet to come. And as I lay here, waiting for his presence to come right in this bed, I am confirming that my life would never be the same again.
“That marked on your neck… Shows that you are my fate. That you are mine. And that no one can messes up with you,” He sat down and uses his finger to linger on my neck. He stared at the mark in my neck, and I can only focus on his glowing skin… On his eyes, his throat… His face.
And every stare I do.
My heart couldn’t stop from beating slowly.
“Who are you…” He slowly look at me. “What are you?” I corrected my own question for him to answer.
And the next thing he said, shut down my belief system.
“I’m a werewolf.”
