The next day, the whole police department was serious and silent over another murder which happened last night. Despite of installing CCTV camera around the corner of the streets, the killer didn't get caught. The killer appeared as a shadow in the footage.
Sophia was disturbed, she stayed alone in her office, lost in deep thoughts which was truly depressing. She couldn't thought to get to a clue which will lead her to the killer. All these murders and killing had been viral to the entire town of Charlesrange. People in the neighborhood are scared of this killer. No one know who is his next victim?
Even after collecting the clues they found on the crime site, not a single one appeared useful in their investigation. This made Sophia furious and upset at same time.
Andrew entered in her office and found Sophia in deep thoughts. He made a cup of coffee for her and passed at the table. She was still lost and devastated.
"Miss. Green? Please, have this coffee." Andrew reminded her.
Sophia was brought into reality and she noticed the simmering hot cup of coffee in front of her.
"Thank you, Andrew but this coffee won't help me getting anywhere in this case. I need some solid clues to catch this bastard." She commented.
"I understand, this is difficult for entire Police department but what could be done. Didn't we tried our best?" Andrew was impatient.
"No, we didn't tried enough. That's why we are behind. That killer is smart and courageous to do his brutal killings under our nose. But that is his criminal mindset. We have to enhance our thinking. Otherwise, that killer won't stop and we will watch him doing that shit." Green was serious and determined this time.
"What is in your mind? How do you think we are going to get through this? Do you want to set a trap?" Andrew asked Sophia about her next move.
"There is no point setting a trap now, we need to find an accuse atleast. I can't do anything beyond my powers. But, I can do one thing for sure." Sophia looked confident.
"What is that?" Andrew seemed confused after seeing Sophia's amused reaction.
"We need to go back to the place from where this all started. That place where we found the first body. And then we will connect the link to link, maybe that way, we will be able to trace the killer or at least a clue." Sophia suggested to Andrew.
"Seemed fine to me. Finish your coffee, then we are hitting the spot." Andrew winked before taking out the keys of his car.
Sophia and Andrew drove to the place where they found the first body, on the shore of the lake. They interrogated several local peasants and resident about the case but most of them denied and no nothing about it, exceptvthe fact that they discovered the mutilated body of a woman. The search didn't stopped here, but encouraged both of them to look of a clue.
They were searching the whole area until Andrew spotted a stoll of mouthfreshner roaming near the lake. The still owner looked a little tensed which didn't go unnoticed by him
Andrew approached the still owner and interrogate him. After his interrogation, Andrew called Sophia, and they both asked a few more questions before coming to a conclusion.
"So, that night, you were here, right? What did you saw exactly?" Sophia asked him.
"I don't remember everything exactly but there was a man, dressed in all black, he was carrying black coloured poly bags. Firstly, I thought he is just a shell collector and might be taking out some shells out of the sand. Then I noticed him dumping the bags at one of the local peasant's backyard. Then he came to me and bought some mouthfreshners and then he left. Later, i saw him smoking and leaving hastily when the crowd rushed." He explained the whole incident which happened earlier with him.
"So, does that mean the killer dumped the bags and left after he noticed the upcoming crowd?" Andrew asked.
"That's exactly he said." Sophia rolled her eyes.
"What else did you noticed?" Andrew asked the still owner.
"Nothing, he was covered and his face was hidden behind a mask. After I encountered him, I left with my stoll, the next day, I heard the news on TV." He explained further.
"Okay! You can leave!" Sophia ordered him and said.
They both walked back to the car and discussed the matter futher, then they drove to the places where the victims lived and found in bags.
Their hunt for clues didn't ended but the day ended quickly.
"Wow! I didn't got what to do now? We still stand at the same place from where we started." Andrew was frustrated.
"Actually, I catch something here." Sophia said.
"What?"
"The killer hunts his prey from three perticular areas, most of the victims were living here or worked here, which means, the killer is well aware of the place and that is the reason why he didn't get caught in the camera easily." Sophia explained.
"Okay! Now what?" Andrew was curious.
"We have to tighten the security around these areas but being vigilante, I don't want that killer to get suspicious about our plan." Sophai added.
"And how do you think you will do that?" Andrew asked.
"Leave it to me, I have my sources here, and more, I know a person who will help us in this case. I just hope she will get agree working with us. Because we need a mind which will work differently than ours, and that's only possible when she is willing to help us." Sophia was smiling in confidence.
"And who is she?" Andrew was eager to know the new helper.
"Luna Bancroft!" A wide smile spread on Sophia Green's face.
"Seriously? Are you sure?" Andrew asked.
"Not sure but I will try my best to make her agree helping us. I know it will be difficult but she is the only one who can help us."
"Why are you so sure about this?" Andrew asked again.
"I will explain it to you."
