Evil Within

CHAPTER 11

Luna was sitting alone in her room, she was feeling lonely after Carla left for her home. The rude behavior from Lucas was unexpected and she couldn't get it cleared. Why is he doing this? 

More, those weapons which Lucas called instruments were pictured in her mind. Those scary scales and sharp blades appeared more lethal and dangerous than she could imagine. A fragment of her thought was indulged in thinking why Lucas was carrying such weapons. But then, she recalled what Lucas explained to her about the weapons. He was learning carpentry, because it was his dream to become a successful worker in that field.

Luna decided not to overthink but the loneliness around her was stubborn and didn’t leave her in peace. Her mind was acting like it wasn't even in the place. After struggling to keep it up, Luna took her jacket and draped it around her waist, then she left the house to get some air. 

The surroundings were quieter than usual and the commotion was nil, even though it was just the morning. Luna was coping with the headache which seemed to increase intensively. Coming out seems a bad idea and Luna thought that she should have taken a nap instead of coming this far from home. Her legs stopped and moved back, she was hitting the next departmental store in the neighbourhood.

Her eyes moved from shelf to shelf, but she was indecisive while purchasing the stuff she wanted in the first place. Though she has filled her small carry bag with some processed food cans and other important items she will need. She quickly got to the counter for billing and left the store hastily. 

When she was almost near her house, she noticed a familiar car parked outside her house. Her mind started to process from where she had seen this familiar car until she realised who is the owner of that big car. No one but, CBI investigator, Sophia Green and her assistant, Andrew James. 

The frown appeared on her face as she saw them waiting for her at the patio. She approached the and the CBI investigators stood to talk to her.

“Miss. Bancroft, do you have some spare time for us? We have something important to discuss with you.” Sophia Green said politely.

“Well, i am busy!” Luna replied to them.

“Doesn’t seem like you are really busy?” said Andrew.

“I am sorry but i am too afraid of this conflict and I don't have any relevant explanation of your questions, so please, move aside and let me go.” Luna was frustrated and she had no chills for them.

“We are sorry to disturb you, Luna but there is something we want to know and need your help. Please, at least listen to us what we wanted to say?” Sophia insisted and Luna gave up.

She couldn’t say no to everyone, it was just because of her humble nature. Luna nodded and opened the door for them. She went to the kitchen quickly and prepared match tea for her guests. Served them with a squeezed lime on the top.

“Here is the tea, please make yourself comfortable.” Kuna smiled slightly at them.

“Thank you, miss. Bancroft!” Andrew said.

“What’s the matter? Why do you guys need my help?” Lina asked them curiously.

“We need your help in this case, Luna! I think you already know about the murder last night.” Sophia initiated the conversation deeply.

“Yes, I have heard it on the news channel. You guys haven’t caught him, right?” Luna asked them.

“Unfortunately, yes we didn’t acute him but we need some help to catch him.” Sophia said.

“What does that mean? If you need help, you should visit another Police department and enforcers, why me?” Luna was confused.

“We need a normal person to help us study this case deeply, we want to do a mind testing taking the references from this case's data. That’s why we need your help.” she explained further.

Luna wanted to help these CBI investigators but she was afraid if Lucas found out about Luna working for the Police, he would create havoc in the house, and that would not be very good. Now she was stuck in a dilemma, weather to help them or not.

“I don’t think i can be helpful in your study case. I Am sorry, you guys are wasting our time.” Luna thought and said abruptly.

“No!! that’s what you think, but ask me, i know better. You know this area very well, that will be more beneficial for us. Please, try to understand that catching this killer is way more important than anything. You could save lives, Luna.” Sophia was trying to insist.

“But, i am not sure about this, and i am scared as well. I live alone here, it will be way too dangerous for me to work with them, thinking of doing something beyond my expectation will only give me headaches and tension, for which I am not a suitable person for your testing.” Luna declared and joined her hands, “please, leave!!!

Luna had taken all the s**t from everyone, and she had enough of it, now she is about to throw those s**t she got from everyone form all.

“Luna, try to understand!!” Sophia begged her.

“Please! Leave me alone!! It’s a request.” Luna was already breaking.

She had broken Lucas's trust first and now she can’t bear hatred from him. He is her only family.

“Let me explain it to you…” Sophia was still trying.

“I said, leave!!! From my house, right now!!!!” Luna yelled at them and both investigators got an answer from her.

Sophia left Luna’s house eventually and went up to her car. Andrew followed her and asked her, “why are you keep trying to take her in your field when that girl isn’t even listening to you?” Andrew was furious.

“Sometimes, we have to think like the person who is sitting in front of her, hates us but the story didn’t end there. It will go on and on until it completes. Try to understand, once we manipulated her, i know how to use this girl to get that killer.” Sophia stated while smirking a bit.”
