CHAPTER 18

They slept together on the same bed but not as lovers. Peter did appeared to like Luna as well, but he was hesitant to show his feelings to her. He was afraid that his one step might break their bond of newly developed friendship. The sun rose out from the dusty clouds and the rain stopped, revealing a beautiful indigo in the crystal cleared sky.

Luna opened her eyes precisely and noticed that she was sleeping while keeping her head on Peter's chest. She gasped loudly and pushed Peter. However, Peter fell from the bed and cried in pain.

"Luna!! What are you doing?" He asked her.

"Why were you on my bed?" She was scared.

"Don't think it otherwise. You fell asleep in my arms and i didn't wanted to disturb you. So I had no other option but to lay down next to you. Trust me! I had no bad intentions!" Peter explained and hoped that Luna won't take this in other way.

She calmed down and relaxed.

"Alright… I have to head to the college. I might see Miss green on my way back. See you around, Peter." She smiled at him and Peter left her house.

Luna took a shower and dressed quickly as she can. She was already late for the day and didn't want to miss the bus. Lucky for here, she got the bus and reached her college in time.

When she arrived, all the students were accumulated in the grounds to moan for the death of Kyle Spencer. It was a black day for them. Though, Kyle was a pain in ass for everyone but he didn't deserve to die like that.

Carla approached Luna and hugged her. After the small meeting, everyone went back to their classes.

"I couldn't believe that Kyle was murdered. This is so heart wrenching. I am worried for everyone of us. Who knows when another murder happens and who could be his prey this time." Carla muttered under her breath.

Luna was lost minded. She couldn't picture everything as it made her more anxious. After the classes, Luna decided to meet Sophia. She still need to discuss the cases with her in order to help them. When she arrived the Police station, she was welcomed by Andrew James.

"Luna Bancroft? You have to wait to see Miss Green. She is having a meeting with our Chief and other staff." He informed her.

"No worries. I will wait." Said Luna, politely.

Sophia came out of the meeting room and her eyes lightened to see her sitting in the waiting hall.

"Come inside, Luna. We need to pick up from where we left last time." She ordered her and Luna followed.

They both discussed all the dangerous and possibilities Luna will face during the mission.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Sophia asked her one last time.

Luna thought about it for a while before nodding her head on agreement, "yes! I will help you."

"Great. So, we will start our mission from today in evening. May i know if you have any suspicions?" She asked.

"I can't say anything right now." Luna added.

"Okay… meet you in at square town." Sophia declared and left the office with Andrew to investigate the case.

Onthe other hand, Luna went back to her house and prepared herself for the mission. She packed all of the stuff she might require during the investigation. Once she was satisfied with her prepations, she headed to the main entrance.

As soon as she opened the door to leave, a familiar figure blocked her way. She gasped to see the face in front of her. The shock was pure as she wasn't expecting Lucus to show up suddenly.

"Lucus?" She whispered his name.

Lucus observed her from head to toe and narrowed his gaze on her.

"Are you going somewhere?" He asked while pointing at the backpack.

Luna was dumbfounded and had no words coming from her mouth to explain anything.

"Why this face? Why do you appeared so shocked?" He was reading her.

Luna was aware that if Lucus found out she was helping the police in the investigations, He would be mad or might yell at her.

"Uhh… I was going to Carla's house." She stuttered.

"Why?" He asked.

Luna shook her fear and replied boldly to him, "because I feel afraid living alone here. I stay with her at nights. You don't have time for your sister so I had to pick my safety measures. By the way, what are you doing here?" She demanded an answer from him.

He sighed and replied, "i am sorry, Luna. I was guilty of leaving you alone like this but i have my own responsibilities to handle."

"What responsibility is bigger than me, dear brother? You don't care much about me and it shows. Knowing that a deadly serious killer is roaming freely in the town who might kill me one day but why is that a matter of concern for you? Once I will be killed, you will have all the share of the property, right? This is your responsibility!!!" She yelled at him.

"You are taking me wrong… let me explain…"

"Save it, Lucus. I had lived alone so much that i have started to like my loneliness. I don't care of you are here for me or not, but i have been on my own and now I can carry that way. Suit yourself in the house, i have to go " she spat and decided to leave.

"Luna… you are not going anywhere… I need to talk to you." Lucus grabbed her arm and stopped her in the tracks.

"Leave me alone, Lucus. I have promised someone that I will be there… now, please, Carla's parents are waiting for me." She threw a glance at him before leaving.

She was panting because of the strength she used to yell at Lucus. Once she was out of his reach, she dialed Carla's number to inform her about her arrival.

"Hey Luna… what's up?"

"Carlie, listen. I have to meet the investigators at square town. Lucus showed up abruptly at the house and i told him that I am staying at your house tonight. In case of he calls you or visit at your door, please handle." She made a request to him.

"Ummm… Luna… you know Lucus will be mad if he find out you are working with the police. Why are you trying to dig your own grave?" Carla was worried.

"I have no choice but to help. Please, handle him of he approaches you. Or you message me whenever he calls you." Luna responded and disconnected the call.

A car was parked in her way and she recognised it. It was Sophia Green. Luna hoped inside and exhaled deeply.

"What took you so long?" She asked.

"My step brother showed up suddenly, i had to made an excuse to leave the house." Luna replied.

"Alright… let's go!!" Sophia drove away with her team.
