Driving to the last investigation point, Sophia and her team started collecting clues. The flashy yellow banner was tied around and the keen eyes of the CBI agents searched for a single clue they could find on this running case. However, nothing came to their hands. The blood stains were recovered and sent to the forensic lab, but Sophia was aware that there wouldn't be anything she could do unless she found reliable proof to fight the case.
"I am sorry, dear. We didn't find anything regarding the case. It's all the same thing again." Sophia was disheartened.
"Don't give up… I understand how important it is to catch this killer. Not today, maybe tomorrow, we will be able to catch him. And… there is a suggestion I would like to propose…" Luna said, hesitantly.
Sophia looked at her, "yes… please!!"
"Umm… maybe, we should set a trap to catch the killer. That's what I think…"
Sophia was amused to hear Luna's suggestion and she liked it too.
"You mean… trapping the killer by creating a fake scenario. Are you sure it will work?" Sophia asked Luna.
"Well… I can't say that I will work all hundred percent but in order to catch him red handed, we have to take risks." Said Luna.
"I like your suggestion but I am concerned that it would be too dangerous for us. It would be difficult to make anyone a bait in this trap." Sophia's hope went down when realisation dawned upon her.
"I will be the bait. Since it's my idea, I will be the bait to trap that killer." Luna stated.
"No… it's way too dangerous.. I cannot allow this. Moreover, you are way too young. The chances of this operation to be successful is below than average and i can't handle another murder, that's too because of my negligence." Sophia was afraid of the consequences.
"I understand that it is difficult for you but try to understand… that killer might be aware of you. Once he spots you as bait, I don't think he would chase you as a prey. In most of his murders, I noticed a chronology. Most of his victims are young women. And all those women have no connection to each other. It could be that all of them were accidental prey, or he might have been following these women for a long time and waited for an opportunity to slaughter them. What I think is, most of them were accidental. He killed those women when they were travelling alone or being in a lonely place." Luna stated the facts in front of Sophia.
Sophia was astonished to see Luna's Calibre as an investigator. All the points she stated were true, sort of. She was impressed.
"Alright! But how are we going to do that? Do you have any suggestions to make?" She asked her.
"We will come up with something… this type of trap should be made with a cool mind." Said Luna.
Suddenly, Luna's phone rang and she excused herself to attend the call. It was Carla.
"Hey Carlie…"
"Luna! Where are you? Get back as soon as possible. Lucus called me and said that he needed to speak up with you. I made an excuse that you are bathing and now he is on his way to home. Please…" Carla was worried.
"Alright… I am on my way." Luna disconnected the call and rushed to Sophia.
"I am really sorry, Miss Green but I have to leave. My brother is going to pick me from my friend's house." She explained and gathered her belongings before proceeding to leave the station.
"Wait, Miss Bancroft… I will drop you. It's too dangerous for you to travel alone."
Luna agreed and Sophia dropped her to the back entrance of Carla's house. She was contemplating because of Lucus. He will go mad on her if he spotted her with Sophia Green.
Carla had left the back door open for her and Luna rushed inside as quick as she could. She was panting and gasping for air. But there was a sigh of relief when she noticed that she made it well.
"Oh gosh… thank goodness, you are here!!! Lucus would be here any moment. To be honest, i was scared to the core." Carla helped Luna with her backpack and offered her some clothes to wear.
"Did he appeared mad on call?" Luna confirmed.
"No! He cut the call and i knew that he must be on his way to my house." Carla explained.
"Alright…"
The door bell rang and Carla went to open the door. She wasn't surprised to see Lucus at the entrance.
"Lucus! What a surprise?" She grinned at him.
"Where is she?" He asked.
Luna went down the stairs and glare at Lucus.
"What are you doing here? I told you that I am staying at Carla's home. Why do you have to show up everywhere I go?" Luna hissed at her brother.
"I was worried for you…"
"That's a joke, right? You are worried for me? That will never happen… so please, stop pretending that you care and came to your point." Luna was never this bold before.
Lucus was taken back for a moment to see the confidence in Luna. A slight smirk was on his lips but he concealed his emotions and get inside Carla's house.
"The point is… I am your brother. And you will come back with me." His one glare was enough to send Luna shivers down to her spine.
She didn't wanted the things to take an ugly turn, so she decided to leave with Lucus. More, Carla's parents were present at home so it would be difficult of Carla to manage and explain things to them later.
"Fine! I am coming with you…" Luna went upstairs and brought her bags. She hugged Carla before hoping in the car with Lucus and headed back to her home.
Both of them were silent the entire ride and once reached home, Luna went to the door first and then she headed to her room. While Lucus parked the car and went to his room as well.
He changed and prepared dinner on the table, then he went to call Luna.
"Luna! I have prepared the dinner. Come down and eat." He called her.
"I am not hungry…" she yelled.
"I know you are mad at me but don't show your anger at the food. Now, come down and eat. Tomorrow, we have to visit the cemetery." Said Lucus.
Luna was hit by the nostalgia and she immediately went downstairs to eat. She had lost her appetite but she went to eat along with Lucus. She didn't mind his presence and went to the table. Them she filled her plate and eat in silence. All the time, Lucus kept his eyes on her.
He filled his plate too and muched while glancing at his sister.
"Luna! I am sorry…" He apologised to her.
"Lucus, please! Let the things the way they are. I have no strength to hear what you have to say unless it is related to tomorrow's schedule." She snapped at him.
"I wonder how did you changed so suddenly? The way you just yelled and snapped back at me. This is no the Luna i used to know." He complained.
"Of course, what did you expected then? Everyone is moving on and so does you, you have time for other things then being here with me. I have choosen my own path, Lucus. I am no longer the same shy and introvert person i used to be. I started biting back." Luna was determined and Lucus was aware of her.
"So, where were you? And don't lie that you are with Carla. I saw you being dropped by someone." Lucus's voice held an authority.
Luna stopped munching on the food in her mouth and stared at him in disbelief. She wasn't expecting that she got busted by him and now she was aware that lying with him will only land her in trouble.
"I was helping a friend…" she started and finished the bite in her mouth.
"Which friend?" He asked.
"I have a new friend and who are you to ask me that? Since when have you started taking interest in my life? As far as I remember, you are very much concerned with your own life. That's why you weren't there for our parents's funeral." Luna slammed her palm on the dining table and pushed the plate away.
"I had enough, Lucus! Stop acting like you care. I know you will wander away the next morning when our visit to the cemetery gets over. So please, leave me on my own." She glanced at him and went up to her room.
Lucus left dumbfounded to see her getting so furious suddenly.
