CHAPTER 16

1000 Words
Sophia dropped all the files and discussed the cases in front of Luna. she wanted her to be aware of the danger she is going to be in. everything was deeply confusing, as no one knows from where the murders started and from where they ended. “This is the latest case which happened last night, we only got informed in the morning. Kyle Spencer, a student of a local college, was found dead, with his body parts mutilated, even the fingers from his right hands were chopped off and stuffed inside of his mouth. That was disturbing.” Sophia explained to Luna “Wait!! What? Kyle Spencer?” Luna was stiff after hearing the name. The flashes of yesterday’s incident pictured in her mind. The way Kyle teased her for seeing a dead body which was an accident but she always got bullied by him. “Is something wrong?” Sophia asked curiously. “Oh god! Kyle Spencer is.. Actually he was, my classmate. We both were in the same class. I saw him yesterday in the evening before I left the campus for home. He was alive, how come he died?” Luna baffled. “Wait, he was your classmate, then you must know something about him. Like what kind of guy he was. We are just assuming that the serial killer has killed him too but maybe it could be a case of personal grudge.” Sophia was taken back but she wanted to get some more information from her mouth. Luna looked above at Sophia’s face and sighed, “he was a bad guy, always late in class. He used to play pranks on the students and bully the young or freshers. Even the faculty was frustrated with him. I heard a rumour about him selling drugs but i am not sure about it.” Luna explained in brief. “Do you think or know if he had enemies, rivals in college?” Sophia asked her. “I am sorry, i don’t know! I am just a simple girl with no friends in that college, except one, Carla simpsons. My day starts with a rush and ends with a rush, I never got time to see my surroundings.” Luna said with a depressed voice. Sophia was willing to know more about the case but after observing Luna’s expression of anger she was trying hard to hide, she kept silent for a while. "Do you want water?" She asked from Luna, but Luna shook her head. "I am sorry for breaking the news, I didn't have any idea about him being your classmate." Sophia felt guilty. "Its okay! It wasn't your fault but I was just wondering of his parents are okay. Losing someone closest when you were expecting the least, it really hurts alot." Luna said after indulging in deep thoughts. "Hmmm.. maybe this is not the right time to discuss about this case. I will catch up with you later, meanwhile, I will drop at your place." Sophia suggested to Luna. Since Luna was alone and the news she got was too shocking and difficult to consume, she decided to go with Sophia, it would be better for her. Sophia and luna went in her car. The day was appeared more clear and silent. The roads were almost empty which baffled the normal crowd. No one is willing to come out from there houses until necessary. "The town is terrorised deeply." Sophia commented. "Yeah.. it seems like though. I hope this killer got caught in time. I wonder how many more innocent loves he had taken and he is going to take." Luna was depressed. "Don't take it personal hunny, but I have dealt with such cases all my life. Just that, this one is extremely complicated." Sophia clarified. "I can understand." Luna said. Soon they reached at her house and Luna invited Sophia. She refused politely as she had some work in a row, so she left after dropping Luna safely at her home. Her mind was filled of disappointment and concern. Doesn't matter how great she is putting her efforts, she couldn't bring that killer in her hands. What could be done to get to that killer. This was far beyond imagination. Yet, it was true to be taken serious. Sophia went home straight afterwards, she was tired and exhausted from stress bearing and dealing with the cases. She needed some rest and decided to get some sleep before hitting for the next day. Hope the new day will being some positive news for her, since it's been a while it rained here in the town, the things have appeared more hazy and blurred than ever. Sophia took her sleeping pills before going to the bed, which was more shocking than the reality she is living. It shows how pathetic the way she is living her life. Stressed, always under pressure and when the things don't work, she had to deal with the consequences. For her, Luna is a ray of hope. Her heart says that this girl has something which can make her task more simpler and easy. Hoping she will be right, she set the alarm and rechecked all the locks.  The day she decided to become a CBI officer, she knew she will putting her life and her family in danger, though she had difficulty while choosing this as a career option, she taught her way to the top and succeeded.  Her apartment was empty, means without souls. She was only one left and she thought she is enough for herself.  Sophia sighed before clearing her mind and turned the lights off. But the sleep was flee and she couldn't sleep after changing sites repeatedly. Her eyes were fixed on the digital clock on the wall in front of her. Waiting for the eye to closes themself forcefully when the wave of drowsiness takes her away in the lands of darkness.
