Shaun searched the whole castle, blowing past all that tried to intercept him until he found the shape of Mara on her own looking out beyond the lava flow. It was her normal place. It was where she contemplated strategies that leveled barren wastelands and cultivated new life. She and her team kept the hell pit filled and were first to act when the geysers reactivated, keeping his kingdom intact as if nothing happened.  Mara knew her surroundings. It just came with being an Alpha, always having to be the responsible one. The thought of which stung even then.
