Mara didn’t reply to him though. It was oddly satisfying that if it was truly her, that she wasn’t only silent with him.
“Mara?” Shaun whispered, unable to get a full breath out to carry her name back to her from his lips.
It felt as though he was being dragged down. It felt as though he was losing every capability he had to stand against Lucifer and bring her home.
Only, even with his efforts, he couldn’t reach her.
“What’s happening to me?” Shaun worried out loud.
“Still only focusing on yourself?” Akuji whispered beside him.
“How can I not?” Shaun shot back. “My well being is keeping me from getting to her!”
