Akuji infuriated him. He knew his Mate. He knew what she liked and what she didn’t. He could often tell based on her scent or anger. In the beginning there was a lot of that, but then she ran cold to him.
“What do you think you know?” Shaun asked and Akuji grinned.
“I know that she operated in a way that’s been uncommon to most, especially those found on Dracochen,” Akuji began.
She ignored his snort and continued thereafter with Mara’s life before she ever met Shaun.
“The girl I heard then?”
“It’s young Mara. She’s the piece of herself that is still on edge, looking for stability. The rest of her, however,” Akuji shook her head in defeat. “It’s gone.”
“What do you mean it’s gone?”
“The power to get up again. That little part of Mara was recently forced out of her too.”
