Chapter 14

{Emily} "He is an odd one, I can tell you that," Vanessa proclaimed, her pen tapping against her table rapidly. Sometimes she reminded me of a rabbit. "Orion's not one to easily show his emotions. The only person I've seen him open up to is Daniella." I clicked my tongue silently. Now I was the one who was annoyed. The bell rang, marking the end of the school day. I collected my books and said, "See you at practice." I was in no particular mood to deal with Alex's antics when he approached me at my locker. "Hey, little Em." "Hey yourself." "Why are you moody today?" I ignored him, placing back a couple of books and stuffing notebooks in my bad. "Anyways, I just came to say that I'm transferring." Now this caught my attention. "Really? Where? When?" He scowled, "Are you that eager to get rid of me?" "Guys like you are not the type I hang around." "Guys like me..." he echoed, slouching on the locker next to mine. "Meaning?" "Guys like you are determined to make a girl fall in love with you so that you can toy around with them," I said, rolling my eyes. "Frankly, I'm glad you're leaving. Then there'd be no toxic people around Jasmine." "Uh-Huh," he yawned. He wasn't paying attention but fiddling with the lock on my locker.  "Bye, Alex." I slammed my locked shut and walked away. I've been begging Jasmine to break up with Alex since she started an on-and-off relationship with him. He was no good and why date someone who isn't your soulmate? There'd be no purpose if you got too attached. When I walked into the girl's locker room there was a commotion. Julia was soothing a weeping Jasmine. I sighed, throwing my sports bag onto the floor. It was evident she was crying over Julia.  I towered above her crouched form. "Get up, Jasmine." "Why? What's the purpose of anything?" she cried.  I tilted her face upward and my palm cracked across her cheek. I was positive the sound could be heard in the gym. "Are you done now? Because the Jasmine I know wouldn't cry over a jackass." "Just...let me skip practice today. I won't tomorrow. I need time alone." Her mood was totally off and it wouldn't be practical for her to play today. "Ok." I was disappointed with how low she fell. Her standards had always been high with guys. It was a curse for her to set her sights on Alex. Julia seemed relieved that I knocked some sense into Jasmine because she sagged against her gym locker. "It was about time," she said to no one in particular.  The girls filed out of the locker room and I quickly changed into my attire. The same as always. A red shirt and black spandex shorts. The elite girls of the team wore that uniform. The rest wore white shirts with black spandex shorts.  The elite girls were all vampires. I jogged out into the gym and saw that the bleachers were filled with spectators. Lately, people- and by people, I mean guys- have started to watch our practices because word went around that the girls were perfect eye-candy. The spandex shorts didn't help our case.  "We'll split up into two teams to verse each other," I announced to the team. They organized themselves perfectly. There was a total of twelve girls on the team. Seven vampires and five foxes.  The five of them went to the other side and the rest to my side. I tilted my head, giving Julia a signal. She nodded and pulled herself and Pamela to the Alpha-Females side.  "Why is this like a competition?" I muttered to myself. It's supposed to be practice. "Listen up! All of you need to analyze your opponent's weaknesses and strengths. Their body movements are crucial to pay attention. If you see they have a habit of doing a move then use that to the best of your ability." Julia serves first from the other side. Her eyes narrowed in on the ball and she slammed the ball to our side. Canaria returned the ball back to them. The ball slammed on the floor on the Alpha-Female's side. A point for my team.  The vampire side of the bleachers cheered for us but we cringed. They were whistling wildly. Canaria folded her arms across her chest, shaking her head. "They resemble dogs in heat." I laughed. Daniella was serving. The wind whooshed as the ball shot in my direction. It was a bit high up. "Get it, Em!" Autumn encouraged.  I jumped in the air at rapid speed, my arms extending, and my palm cracking against the side of the ball. It landed on the floor of the other side, all air deflated. Canaria clapped while shaking her head. "And you ask why they don't let you serve." "Take a look at that ass." Someone exclaimed from the bleachers. The whistles were fine. They were tolerable but not this. My eyes scanned the bleachers, they instinctively landed on Orion's eyes. They were a scary grey.  Beatrice pointed at the guy on the top bleacher. "It was him." I jumped to the bleachers, startling everyone. I grabbed the guy by the collar of his shirt. "I believe you are new here. Are you?" "Correct. Don't regret transferring." He licked his lips. "Do you know who I am?" I hissed. "I'm not the type who will willingly accept you to offend me." "You're feisty. I like that. Are you aware of how intimate our position is?"  "You-" I started with a growl but his hand on the small of my back stopped me. He pushed me down until I straddled him. It was a humiliating second. I grabbed his hair and threw his body below near Autumn's feet. She was clicking her tongue and aggressively glaring at him. He wasn't injured from the fall. "Didn't your parents ever taught you never to mess with a pureblood?" Autumn asked. "Pureblood?" his eyes glanced back at me. "She's a ha-" My hand curled around his mouth, stopping him from saying anything. "Listen, I didn't want to start a commotion but you started it by interrupting my practice." "Filthy blood runs through your veins," his voice was muffled. "Take him away," I say to the guard who my father put to protect me. Barely anyone could detect him. He was placed in that position ever since my location was revealed to my biological parents. "Right away," he replied from beside him. In an instant, the guy and my guard disappeared. "Now let's resume." *** I ended up staying later than the girls in the locker room. They all left but I was the only one who remained. Coach delayed me with a speech about leadership. I stood in front of the mirror, tying my hair into a high ponytail. I was still in my practice uniform. Sighing, I began to walk past the lockerroom showers but a hidden hand grabbed my elbow and pulled me into one of the showers.  "Orion!" I squeaked as he covered the entrance with the curtain. "What are you doing here?" His back was tense and when he faced me, his eyes were dark. He was pissed. I backed away until I hit the cement wall of the shower. He stalked toward me until our bodies were pressed tightly together. I swallowed harshly as his hand found the small of my back and pulled me toward him.  His hot breath blew into my air as he whispered, "I don't like anyone touching you." "Orion...that was out of my control and you know that," I fired back. My pulse was throbbing erratically. His scent was so intoxicating and melted me. But it was too late. Orion propped me onto his hips, his hands supporting me on my ass. I fumbled to settle in this position. He pressed me tightly onto the wall. "You were so eager to wrap your legs around that man...What am I to you? Someone you can toy around with? You're driving me crazy, Emily." "I wasn't eager to straddle that guy," I protested. My legs tightly wrapping around his hips instinctively. His lips lowered to my neck and he began his onslaught. His lips moved in sync to the rhythm of my harsh breathing.  His canines nipped my sweet consistently. "Orion, is it your wolf that's pissed?" I dared to ask. "Your eyes are an unearthly color." Orion's deep growled resonated through me as he stopped supporting my ass and moved his hands across my thighs. With his support gone, I untied my legs. "Orion, are you jealous?" He sighed, his head sagging against my shoulder. "You're unfair. You make me feel things I've never felt before." "I bet you say that to all the girls," I huffed.  "Only to you," he whispered quietly. "Anyways..." I drawled, my fingertips brushed the fabric of his shirt. "You've gotten bold." I tugged the collar of his shirt down until his collar bone was exposed. "It's my turn." My lips sucked on his skin until I left a mark. Orion's eyes were wide and disbelieving. "How am I going to hide this," he hissed.  "You should've thought about that before pulling me in here," I smirked.  "It's only fair if I give you one too." He came behind me and tilted my head until my neck was exposed.  "Orion-" The suction his lips caused sent shuddered down my spine. "Orion...." "Now we're even." ***
