{Emily}
I was forbidden from going to school for the next week. Under my father's command. He said that my biological family will try to utilize me and bend me to their will. But I know what real reason behind his motives. He was afraid that they would recuperate me.
Today was my first day back. But I had to drop out Rebecca and Renee at school first. I drove my car today but my sisters were off. They kept fumbling with their clothes.
"Is something wrong?" I asked.
"Em, what do you do if someone's blood smells delicious?" Renee laid her head against the window, her eyes dulled looking at the school building. I didn't respond. I pulled up at the front of the school and opened the door for them.
"Before you go..." I stopped them. "Who's blood smells delicious?"
Rebecca glanced me behind me. "Those two boys."
I spun around and saw Braden and Brandon. This is not good. Their sisters were speaking to them heavily but their eyes were fixated on my sister's. My biological sister's mates were slouching on the hood of their car. Orion was talking calmly with Conrad.
"Where's Alec and Alexander?" My eyes searched the perimeter for the two boys.
"Right here, ma'am," Alec politely bowed. Alexander was behind him.
I sighed, turning back to my sister's. "Listen to me. Avoid those two boys. Don't go near them."
"Why?" Both of them asked.
"Just do as I say." I practically push them in the arms of Alec and Alexander. My eyes were serious. "Protect them at all costs. Don't let those boys come near them. Am I being clear?"
Alexander's eyes flickered to Braden and back to Rebecca who was clutching his sleeve. "Crystal."
"Emily!" Vivian's voice calls out to me. I jerk forward, urging the four of them to enter the building.
This wasn't good at all. It was fine to have a bond with Orion because I can handle it but not them...They're so innocent and father will definitely exploit them. I didn't realize I zoned out until Vivian's hand patted my shoulder.
"Hey, are you okay?"
"I'm fine," I muttered, turning away from her. I circled the car until my hand reached the car door. It was slammed shut by Vivian's fair-skinned hand. My fists clenched to my side. I was in the mood to hit something or someone. "What do you want, Vivian?"
"We need to talk and we can't do that if you keep running away."
"There is nothing to talk about," I hissed.
"But there is," she insisted. "What happened to you all these years?"
"I was abandoned, that's what happened. No one came for me. They left me. Are you happy now?"
"You don't understand. Our parents suffered throughout these years. I didn't know why they always had a somber glint in their eyes but now I know. They must have their own reasons. You have to listen to-"
I couldn't take her blabbering anymore and shoved her to the ground. She looked to be startled on the ground. I crouched in front of her and grabbed the collar of her shirt aggressively. "You're testing me way too much, Vivian. Why should I listen to their side of the story? Do you know how it feels like to be all alone? No. You don't because you have your three sisters and your mate. I had nothing."
"But have you ever thought the pain-"
"How you ever thought about my pain!" My eyes were glowing red and my iron grip of the collar of her shirt was tightening. Her face contorted with pain.
"That's enough!" Daniella growled, shoving me off. Her strength slammed me onto my car. There was a small dent from the impact. Vivian was coughing while Caleb inspected the bruise on her neck. Daniella grabbed my arm and harshly pulled at it. "What is wrong with you?"
Everything. I wanted to scream but my lips pinched together. I turned away from them. My pace was quick but my vision was hazy. Running from my problems never helped but it was the only thing I could do. My vision was blurring heavily now. This occurred frequently.
Due to the fact that I was an entirely different species. Half pureblood and half fox. Ninety-percent of my blood was pureblood and ten percent was fox. So my health hasn't exactly been stable. At least not until I'm fully a pureblood or fox. The color of my eyes changing was a sign of that.
There are times that my body gets confused with what it is. It's not pleasant to go through that. Before I knew it, I was on the grass, my hand clutching the grass horribly.
"Emily?" Venus's footsteps were light behind me.
I held my hand out to stop her. "I'm fine," I choked.
Blood pounded through my ear. My fox blood cells were battling my pureblood blood cells. Pureblood always won because they had more numbers but it'll be at least the minutes of pain before that happens. I needed the strength to get away from their worried stares.
My heart was pounding erratically. My car was so close yet so far. It's no use to drive in this state. If anything I'll be making my own death sentence in a car crash. "Stay there," I ordered Venus who seemed to be coming closer.
Slowly, my breathing settled down. My heart pounded silently and the blood no longer became a disturbance. I broke into a cold sweat, stumbling to my feet. I had a blood pill in my car. It will ease the pain for a bit. I staggered to the driver's seat door and opened it. I scourged my bag for a pill and swallowed it with no water.
"Does that happen often?" Isaac appeared in front of me, placing his cool hand on my forehead.
"It's nothing you should concern yourself with," I said. He didn't reply but nodded and distanced himself. I sat in the driver's seat, the door still open to allow airflow. My forehead sagged against the steering wheel. I missed the taste of the sweeter life. When I was a newborn baby I must've been happy. But things always take a drastic change.
Cool palms cup my face and pull it away from the steering wheel. Orion's grey eyes stare back at me. "What are you-"
"You didn't drink the pill with water." I was left speechless as he handed me a bottle of water. "Drink."
"I don't want to," I admitted.
"Why?"
"I just don't want to get too attached."
"To the water bottle?"
"Leave," I hissed.
He sighed. "Just take better care of yourself."
"Why do you worry about me?" I asked curiously.
"Because I care for you." And his lips gently brushed my forehead before he left. Leaving me stunned.
