He probably shouldn’t be here standing in the hall in front of Damian’s room. He should be looking after his Aunt Caroline. True, the woman was a shameless bigot, but Caroline was his father’s only sister and she’d never married. Jake being an only child, he was really Aunt Caroline’s only family.
His mother’s sister, Suzy, had taken over care for Caroline after her breakdown because of Damian’s presence. Jake was grateful for Suzy’s no-nonsense take charge attitude.
