chapter eight - children's   Last night was was amazing yet horrific, I couldn't get it off my head. Also, I couldn't make it out whether it was a dream or reality. How could Marco possibly find where I was staying at and even if he did, how did he get in? I had so many questions that no one except him could answer. I sat down on the dining table with some breakfast wondering about last night.   Was is my imagination that played tricks on me or was it the reality?   Whatever it was, it felt amazing for sure.   "What are you thinking?" Bruce asked while serving me a plate of warm eggs. I didn't say him anything about last night yet because I did not want him to get worried unnecessarily.   "When did you come back last night?" I asked him out of blue. I tried to eat some of the eggs that he made from me but I couldn't swallow anything down. There was too much running inside my head.   "I came around 6, why are you asking?" He questioned my suspicions. He probably knew that something was up because ever since I had woken up, I had been dead silent. Not even a word, not even a good morning.   "And did you lock the door last night?" I asked him. How could Marco possibly have the keys to this apartment? I had one and Bruce had his own key so how could he even get inside without having a key...unless it was a spare key from the reception.   "Yes, I did." He said. "What's wrong? Did something happen? Did your parents call you?" He asked.   "No, no, I am fine. Just wondering. I got a weird dream last night and I just wanted to make sure it wasn't the reality." I shook my head and replied to him. I knew it was real because if it wasn't then why was there so much pain on my lips and why were they bruises around it? Unless, of course, I had a make out session with Marco.   "I am going to get dressed and I am going to go out for a while." I said, leaving the plates aside. I had eaten some of the eggs but I couldn't eat it anymore. I went away from the table and back to my room. The first thing I grabbed was my own phone, hoping for some messages from that mysterious man I admired.   But there was nothing, just a couple calls from my landline number which indicated that Bella tried to call me.   I will call her later. I thought at the back of my head.   There was already so much going on in my life and I wanted to take care of it before talking to my little sister or family.   I changed into a fresh pair of clothes and grabbed my little bag before heading out of the apartment. I don't know where I was heading too but I just wanted to be away and alone for some time. Over that, I also needed to go check my work place.   Bruce had done so much for me and I couldn't be anymore thankful to him. He is the best person I had in my entire life.   It was twelve o'clock in the morning and the weather outside was quite warm compared to inside. As soon as I stepped out the blazing sun hit my eyes, I hated mornings. The heat just kills me every time.   I grunted and started walking around the place. There weren't many people around this area neither there was any crowd, just a few classy cars passing by and a few people walking here and there. I, on the other hand, went to a grocery store and grabbed some snacks for myself.   I wasn't hungry but as soon as I saw the snacks piled up inside the grocery store, I couldn't help but grab all of them one by one. My hands were entirely packed up with different types of chips and chocolates, I went ahead to the juices sections and tried to grab some drinks for my self but I couldn't since I was holding too much already.   I had to give up on the buying the drinks. I went and checked out all my snacks and left the grocery store. Once again, I started to feel hot again when the sun hit me for the second time. I wanted to go back to my house and have my normal job with an amazing afternoon shift where I wouldn't be burned by the sun.   I started to walk again for a little while, I wasn't far away from Bruce's apartment but just a few minutes away. While walking, I ate some of my snacks and just simply looked around the place. I didn't have any destination at the moment but soon I found one.   And it was going to get dirty here.   I found my old cafe where I worked at, once I reached there, I found out that I had walked a lot and Bruce's house was quite far away. I would need to take a cab back there because there was no way I was going to walk all the way back.   I got inside the cafe and as usual the bells on the top started to ring. Instead of going inside the kitchen, I sat down on one of the booths. I wanted to see my replacement and when I saw her, I cracked out laughing.   "Hi, what would you like to order?" The woman said. I wouldn't say she was ugly but she wasn't as that hot I expected her to be. I thought I would be replaced by someone way much attractive than me but it was just another decent girl. She had hair all over her face and her makeup wasn't done right, the clothing she wore was far too small for her but I didn't care. I was in no position of judging anyone when I myself was currently a mess.   "Chocolate expresso," I said without looking at the menu. I knew everything about this cafe. Who worked here, the daily customers, the daily leads these waitresses made everyday. Every single detail about this cafe was locked inside my head.   "Take away actually," I said as the woman was about to leave. She turned around and nodded her head and I immediately got up. I saw a little boy running around the roads nearby the cafe, the boy seemed to be playing with something like a yo-yo but he seemed to be unsafe on these roads alone.   These roads were packed up with cars and buses and it seemed like the boy was for surely going to get harmed if he didn't get off the road. I grabbed my expresso and rushed out of the cafe while holding my bags in one hand and my coffee in another. I slowly approached the boy without getting myself harmed. Since the roads were busy, not many cars moved and even if they moved, they moved super slowly. Which was a good thing at the moment!   I grabbed the little boys hand and dragged him back on the pavement. The smell of petrol and heat went into my head, I hated this smell. I started to feel nauseous but when I got towards the pavement, I felt a lot better.   "What are you doing out here all alone?" I asked the boy. He was so small and cute, almost around 10 years or so. He had a yo-yo in his hand that he was trying to play with.   "I was playing," he replied softly. His eyes were a beautiful shade of glimmering blue. I couldn't stop staring at them. Something that I do a lot.   "You don't play on the roads, where are your parents?" I asked him, I got down on my knees when he looked away from me. There were many people passing by but neither of them cared.   "My aunt told me that I should play on the road, she left me there and went inside that shop. She didn't say anything about not playing on the roads." The boy replied innocently. My mood suddenly changed and I got sad by his reply.   It seemed like aunt didn't care about the boy or else who would leave such a cute boy on the middle of a busy road.   "Okay, do you know where your aunt is now?" I asked him again.   "Yes but I don't want to go to her yet, I want to spend time with myself and-" he stopped for a second and looked around before whispering something into my ear. "She is a bad person!" He said.   I gasped, "Why do you think she is a bad person?" I asked while still standing on the street and holding a bag of snacks and expresso in my other hand.   "Long story, I shouldn't tell it to strangers and you are a stranger. Why should I talk to you?" Now he acted smart like a good 10 year old boy that was taught to not to speak to strangers unnecessarily. I wished someone would have taught me that when I was young.   "Hey, now we aren't strangers right? Let's go sit down somewhere and talk about it and then you can go back to your aunt okay?" I said and he nodded his head in return.   We walked towards a small bench nearby a bus station that was under the shade and we sat down down there. I sighed after finally putting all my bags down on the bench.   "Okay, my name is Wendy, what is yours?" I asked.   "Flynn,"   "That's an amazing name!" I exclaimed and he thanked me for the compliment. "So why is your aunt bad?" I asked.   "Because she hits me a lot and she is behind my daddy's business and she is always trying to-" before he could finish the sentence, horror rose in his eyes, he stopped and just looked forward. I turned away from him and looked in front of me to see four black cars parked in front of us. A young lady walked out of the car and cried before rushing towards the little boy.   "Flynn," she cried and grabbed him by his hand and pulled him into an unwanted hug. I got up from my position to do something but I couldn't because the lady's four bodyguards walked out, they were all dressed in black and their fingers were wrapped around a gun.   I gasped and took a step backwards.   "Where have you been? I have been searching for you everywhere? Did this girl take you?" The woman cried to the little boy and then looked at me with anger.   "No, auntie, she was just helping me. It's okay, please don't hurt her!" Flynn begged and she nodded her head while still having a tight hold on his fragile arms.   "Okay, go ahead, sit in the car. I thought I lost you for a second. Next time, do not go anywhere without my permission!" She yelled and cried at the same time.   "But-" before he could start saying something she cut him off again. I assumed she was her aunt as he called her auntie earlier.   "No buts, go sit inside the car." She ordered and pushed him away. He went inside quickly and two of the bodyguards went behind him. One from the four cars left the sight.   The lady walked up to me, she seemed to be in her late twenties but no older than that. Without doubt, she was beautiful and elegant.   "Who do you think you are to talk to my nephew like that? Do you even know him?" She asked me in a very rude and anger tone. There was anger lacing in her voice and I was surprised on how quickly she changed her tone. Like she had been doing that her entire life.   "I'm sorry, I was just trying to help him. I thought he was lost." I muttered and she came closer to me.   "Next time, do not help please. And stay away!" She exclaimed before leaving the scene with her two men's. A dirty scowl appeared on my face and my mood for the entire day was now ruined by the lady.
