Chapter 5

“What’s going on?” Hana asked, with Solana in her arms. “All will be explained when we get there,” my mother said, sounding like a fortune cookie. “Right, Hiro flies, then we enter a portal, and now we are heading towards a palace in the middle of a floating city,” Hana said. “Wait I flew?” Hiro asked. “OK, I wasn’t seeing things, and thank you for saving me,” I said, happy I had clarification about something. “You’re welcome. I still don’t think I flew through, but if you say so,” Hiro said, just as lost as we were. “This place hasn’t changed that much since we were last here,” my stepfather said, happily. “The outside hasn’t, but some of the politics have. Ever since the attack on the palace all those years ago, the king has become a lot stricter, especially regarding the princess,” Malachi said. “Of course, I’ve heard from my mother about what happened to the princess, and I’m just glad they were able to get to her before that bastard could take her,” my stepfather said, seeming a lot more hostile than just a second ago. “Exactly. Since then the queen hasn’t let her out of her sight,” Malachi said. “How old is the princess this year?” My mother asked as soon as we made it to these large double doors that opened for the castle. “19 in a few months and the queen is preparing a huge party in her honor. The princes, on the other hand, are both 21 and 24 this year and have yet to accomplish anything,” Malachi said, as the doors opened. “They are still young, but saplings, give them twenty years. When they become adults they will surprise us all,” my stepfather said. “Isn’t 21 an adult?” Hana asked. “It’s supposed to be,” Hiro said. We then followed Malachi into the large palace. There were soldiers posted on every door, all wearing the same uniform with different colored wings. “Halt,” someone said, the moment we reached the last door. “Open the door, the king will want to see them,” Malachi said. The other soldier bowed his head slightly to Malachi and then opened the door. When we walked into the room, a man who I assumed was the king, was sitting on this beautiful golden throne. Though he looked no older than 30, I could tell just by one glance that he had lived an extraordinary life and even though he was sitting, his presence filled the room as if he were a God of some sort. In terms of looks, he was perfect. He had long luscious brown hair which reminded me of Aquaman and beautiful dark blue eyes. His skin was the color of mocha and even though he wore a suit I could tell his body was just as sculpted as my stepfather's. His face was perfectly symmetrical, and he had high cheekbones with a goatee. Next to him sat two young men who looked a lot like him. Both had their father’s luscious locks and looks, and they were both as cocky as Hiro. The one that sat close to the king had beautiful silver eyes and seemed to be very mischievous. The other’s eyes were a burnt orange that reminded me of fire. Between the two, he seemed more mature. Then again, I could have been wrong. Nevertheless, they were all beautiful and Hana was gawking. “Your majesty Malachi said,” as my stepfather and mother bowed before the man we now knew was the king. “Should we bow?” I asked my siblings. “I guess,” Hiro said, and we all bowed before the king, with me forcing Hana down next to me. “Aioki,” the king said, in a voice that sounded like excitement and relief. “Your majesty,” My stepfather said. The next thing I knew, the king was standing in front of my stepfather helping him to his feet. “That will be all Malachi.” The king said to the guard, who, on his word, bowed and then walked out of the room with the rest of the guards. “It’s been ages, when did you get back? How did you get back? The portals are all closed,” he asked. “It’s a puzzle to us as well, Your Majesty. Back in the human realm, our house caught fire and not long after, a portal showed up in the middle of the street,” my stepfather said. “This is amazing,” the king said. He then looked over at my mother, “Catalina, you look just as beautiful as the last time I saw you. Did you two meet on your way here? “He asked my mother. “No, your Highness, we’re married,” my stepfather said, and a second later this beautiful woman with eyes so green they shined like emeralds, flawless copper skin, and long lush brown hair with blonde highlights that touched the middle of her back and figure the same as my mother’s walked in. The woman was absolutely beautiful and looked a lot younger than I assumed she was.
