KILLER WITHIN EPISODE SIX

Remi got to stellas house that night and she showed up with stellas favorite drink. Remi saw stella off the day she was going abroad and kept in touch for the months she was away. She was also the one who helped get martin out of trouble when the police had closed in on him after a failed robery. She was not supposed to be part of the officers patroling but she got called in when one of their officers got shot and when she got to the scene, two robbers had been gunned down but two were still in the building including martin.

Remi: so are we slumbering tonight?

Stella: of cause. We have alot to catch up on..

Remi handed her the wine then settled on the sofa as stella got two glasses from the kitchen.

Remi: so, tell me about martin. Did they break up?

She asked flipping through the channels as she waited for stella to get back.

Stella: no they did not but before we get to that, tell me.. How is sam?

Remi: Sam's wife found out about our affair and we broke up.

Stella: wait a minute, he was married?

Remi: with three kids. The fool never told me he was until his wife caught us kissing. She created a scene but toned down after she learnt i was a cop.

Stella: you are something else. Remi, I need your help with Martin.

Remi: tell me dear, what about Martin?

Stella: it's not so much him but the girlfriend. Lexi has turned out to be a psychotic killer and now I'm scared for my brother.

Remi looked surprised at Stella's allegations. What was she saying?

Remi: psychotic killer!

Stella: it's a long story but Martin believes she has two personalities in her and the other came about after her heart transplant.

Remis's eyes widened. What Stella was saying sounded like something she would only watch in the movies..

Dr. Boaz got to Martin's apartment and took with him two of his nurses. They tied Lexi's hands and feet then put her on a stretcher and carried her out to the car..

Martin: are you sure she is not dead?

Dr. Boaz: she will be okay. Let's hope the plan works..

EARLIER THAT DAY

After Martin was given a blow by the guy and Lexi running off, he decided to pass by Dr. Boaz's hospital and see what suggestions he could give to manage Lexi because Martin felt like she was getting out of hand.

Dr.Boaz: hello Martin, you came back.

Boaz asked when he bumped in Martin along the corridor that led to his office.

Martin: yes. I need your help.

Dr. Boaz: of cause, I can see your mouth is bleeding. Did she attack you?

Martin: something like that.

Dr. Boaz: come with me.

He said leading martin to his office and when they got in, he asked Martin to sit in some slanted chair so that he could take a look at that mouth.

Dr. Boaz: what happened, you got into a fight?.

Martin: I was driving Lexi to her mum's place then all over sudden she turned on me, she got out of the car and when I attempted to get her back she screamed and started shouting, some guy came to her rescue and gave me a good one.

Dr.Boaz looked at him and smiled.

Martin: you think it's funny?

Dr. Boaz: no it's not. It's a good thing your jaw is still intact.

He said walking back to his seat and writing some prescription as Martin joined him by his desk.

Dr. What Lexi is experience is something we have not experienced with any patient before.

Martin: what can we do because I can't manage her anymore.

Dr. Boaz: is she hurting people when she turned violent and stuff?

Martin didn't want to tell Boaz about the killing so he had to portray her violence in some other way. He didn't want her to end in jail.

Martin: I think she is not in the right mental state.

They talked about he plan to get Lexi in for mental check up and Boaz gave Martin the injection so that he could use it on Lexi because that's the only way they could catch her.

Martin: I don't want her dead doctor are you sure this will not kill her?

Dr. Boaz: it will only slow the rate of her heart beat but she will still be alive. We use that to kill patients in operation.

Martin: you kill patients?

Dr. Boaz: no. I thought you would get the joke.

Martin: that's a dry joke.

Dr. Boaz: I know, not good with jokes at all. The bottom line is, she will be okay.

Martin: I hope the plan works too. Why is her hands tied with that thing like that?

Dr. Boaz: so that when she turns violent she will still not hurt someone.

They took Lexi away and Martin did not go with them. He had planned to see her the following day after she had woken up from her deep sleep and he kept hoping that the doctors would come up with something..

Martin got back to his bedroom and checked inside Lexi's purse so that he could get the knife and destroy it but he found nothing.

Back at Stella's place they ate, drunk and watched movies but they didn't stop talking. Stella was not in a stable relationship because the guy she dated before she left the country cheated on her and when she confronted him, he broke up with her.

Stella: can you imagine he told me it was only good while it lasted.

She drunk to that and Remi took the glass from her.

Remi: that's enough girl, you deserve better and you know it. You will find someone else who is more deserving of your love.

Stella looked at her and smiled.

Stella: you are so good. I wonder why my brother never sees that.

Remi: that's because he sees the goodness in someone else. Love is not forced Stella and when you force it, it ends in tears.

Stella: okay but promise me you will try your luck with Martin.

Remi remained silent.

Stella: he will leave her Remi and that will be your opportunity.

Remi: okay, you have made your point so I will see about that..but you can't be too sure that he will. You can never understand or advice people in love.

The following morning Lexi woke up in some room with both her hands tied but her feet had been let loose. The institution had a clothelike garment that the insane people wore from the front in both their hands then the clothe was tied from behind.

Lexi couldn't move her hands and when she realized she had been locked up alone she started screaming and banging herself on the door and her voice could bring down the walls of Jericho on her own.

When the nurses heard the shouting they told Dr. Boaz who hurriedly went there to check on her. He opened the first door but the second one remained locked though he could see her so well.

Dr. Boaz: hello Lexi

She stared at him like she didn't know who he was then closed her eyes and shook her head and when she opened them, she was more calm and collected.

Lexi: Dr. Bundi right?

Dr. Boaz: yes.

Lexi: what I'm I doing here?

Dr. Boaz: you are here for a check up.

Lexi: what check up with my hands tied?

Dr. Boaz: mental check up.

Lexi: you think I'm crazy?

Dr. Boaz: well you have been acting crazy.

She smiled and walked up to the door. You don't know crazy. Where is Martin?

Dr. Boaz: he is not here yet.

Lexi: yet...so he knows about all this?

There was silence.

Lexi: of cause he does because the last time I was with him... We were having dinner then...

Dr.Boaz: don't beat yourself up. We will just check you up and if you are okay, we let you go.

She stared at him for a while then walked back to her bed and sat on the edge.

Lexi: get Martin here right now.

She commanded and the doctor didn't respond but locked the other door and walked out.

Laura got called at the police station and when she got there, the police told her they had found Lawrence's car after tracking it down and they had also collected finger prints on the clutch that whoever killed Lawrence forgot to wipe when she covered her tracks.

Laura: did you find out who the woman is?

Officer: yes. We are tracking down the car parked at a certain apartment.

Laura: I want to come with you.

Officer: are you an officer?

Laura: no.

Officer: good, let us go our job. We will contact you once we find out who the murderer is.

Laura: you called me here to tell me just that, you should have just called on my phone.

Officer: who do you think you are talking to, your mother. Do you want to be locked up in a cell until we are done with our investigation?

Laura: no officer.

Officer: then leave and wait for our communication.

The officer got two other officers and they left the station in their Landover, leaving Laura finding her way out of the station.lawrence had a safe in his house and the safe had money Lawrence was going to invest in a business he had told Laura about. The same business that made him and the other guys kill Thompson. Thompson created a virus he had made in form of a software that he was to sell to one of the super power countries. The idea was to paralyze the operations of a specific country and bar it from becoming a super power. Thomson was going to make billions out of it but in the process of doing all that, he told a friend that told a friend that conspired and killed him so that they could take over the building of the remaining part of the software so that they could present it and get the billions. Laura knew of the plan because Lawrence told her. She knew they were going to be billionairs.

Laura: could it be that the woman who killed Lawrence was also in the know of the software?

She asked herself when she got to her car and took a while to start it.

Who is that woman and why did she come after Lawrence, did Lawrence tell her of the plan?

She was confused probably because the only person who could answer that question was dead.

She started the car and drove off cursing and talking to herself. She wanted to go back to the house and collect the money from the safe but the police had camped there since Lawrence's death.

The guy who was bringing the camera bulbs showed up and started the installations as Martin watched. He knew the hospital couldn't hold Lexi and if she was going to cone back to his house, he needed to keep track of her and keep her out if danger. Martin believed despite Stella thinking Lexi would hurt him, she wouldn't because she loved him and if she had wanted to kill him or do something to him, she could have in his sleep or any other time because she had way too many chances.

Installer: we are done here sir.

He said asking Martin to give him his phone so that he could show him how the cameras work..

Installer: I connected the two cameras to your phone. This one shows all the angles of the bedroom., The bathroom, the wardrobes everything. Then this one shows all the angles of the living room, part of the kitchen and the corridor.

Martin: nice..

Installer: so for this to work you need to have constant supply of internet on your phone.

Martin: got it. Thanks a lot man.

He said reaching for his wallet and chucking out some cash and handing it to him before the guy left.

Martin had gotten a call from Dr. Boaz telling him that Lexi was up and wanted to see him so he promised to get done with his guest and head there immediately.

Martin got to his room, took his jacket and rushed out but just as he was opening the door, he bumped into two officers who was with the guard who was always by the gate. He froze for a minute very sure that it had something to do with crimes Lexi had been commiting.

Guard: this is the owner of the parking sir.

Officer: good morning.

Martin: good morning officer.

Officer: there is a car parked at your parking. Is that your car?

Martin: no sir. I came home yesterday and found the car parked there. I've asked but no one had claimed it.

Officer: the person who brought this car here committed a crime. Murder and when we got her finger prints, we have a name. Lexi Banda. The name rings a bell?

He was silent not knowing whether to give her away or cover up for her but how.

Martin: yes, I know Lexi Banda but the Lexi I know would never kill someone.

Officer: you would be surprised at what people could do. Where is she?

Martin didn't answer that.

Officer: listen, you either cooparate or we tag you along as her acomplise and it will not end well for you.

Martin: I'm going to see her now. She is in a mental institution so if you want to come please do.

Officer: did you say mental institution?

Martin nodded and locked the door.

Martin: she ran away from hospital so whatever she did out there, I have no idea.

Officer: let's go.

The officers took Martin with them so he didn't even have to take his car. That was one reason why Martin was afraid and it's even a good thing the cops came when she was at the mental institution, maybe that way she would have to go to court and answer for something she did without knowing. She wasn't herself..

Martin

cops to arrest Lexi for murder. Help.

He sent the text to Dr. Bundi when the cops were not looking then deleted the text from his phone.

Remi got a call from the station and she needed to check in to take on a case she had not been briefed on as the officer incharge was going on a short leave.

Remi: I can't believe we got that drunk..

She said staggering to the bathroom in Stella's towel.

Stella: well, we are single and sometimes, we can treat ourselves to movies and alcohol right here. We don't need to drink men's money all the time. Do you really have to go?

Remi: yes, I'm needed at the station why?

Stella: I was hoping we could go shopping then maybe have dinner at Martin's.

Remi: well, when duty calls, I have to respond.

Stella: you really are shelving the idea to see Martin.

Remi: I'd love to but not like this.

Stella: okay, let me prepare some breakfast before you leave.

Remi: thanks.

She said getting to the bathroom..

Martin and the cops got to the hospital and reported to Dr. Boaz's office then he took them to the department where Lexi was.

She still had her hands tied together and couldn't do anything. When she saw Martin she got up and walked to the door..

Lexi: hey baby..

Martin: hey.

Lexi: can you tell these people I'm not crazy.

Martin remained silent and Lexi nodded her head and smiled.

Lexi: I see what you are doing. You have ganged up on me. You set me up?

Martin: I didn't set you up baby you are not okay.

She let out a loud laughter and left everyone a bit puzzled.

Dr. Boaz: I'm afraid Lexi is not in her right state of mind. We ran a few texts to see what could be the cause of her behavior and we came up with several reason we can discuss in my officer.

Lexi: get me out of here you fools. You think keeping me locked in here is the solution. I will kill all of you and rip your heads apart, I will tear your throats to pieces.

She shouted moving towards them and they all moved back.

Lexi: you, (to martin) you think I will spare you. I will kill you too for bringing me here so make sure I don't come out of here.

Martin: baby, I brought you here so that you can get well. It is not a...

Lexi: baby, I'm not your baby infact you should be very scared of me. Your baby, she died when I got in that comma..you have no idea who i am.

She walked back to her bed and sat there like she was not the one who had spoken those words.

Officer: this one we can't arrest. Clearly, she is insane.

The officers told Martin they would keep in touch then they walked out leaving him and the doctor trying to sink in Lexi's words.

Lexi looked at them and smiled and Dr. Boaz and Martin left.

Martin: what was that back there?

Dr. Boaz: whatever is happening to Lexi can not be medically explained. I honestly have no idea what that was.

Martin: what do we do?

Dr. Boaz: we can't keep her here. She needs some sort of spiritual help or something. You know a pastor?

Martin: what,

Dr.Boaz: those people who pray and deliver people from evil spirits?

Martin: I know who pastors are, what... you think she is possessed?

Dr. Boaz: I don't know what to think. I'm sorry bro.

He tapped on Martin's shoulder and walked back to his office as Martin walked out of the hospital making a phone call.

Hours later, one of the nurses who attends to Lexi went to do a routine check up on her and when she opened the first door, she saw her lying down on the floor as if something had happened to her. She was still with her eyes closed but her ears were very alert.

Nurse: lexi?

There was silence

She tried peeping to see if she was genuinely not breathing or it was a stunt but from where she was, she couldn't tell. That nurse went and got another nurse who convinced her that maybe she was really dead and advised that they open the door and they did.

Nurse 1: Lexi

She called checking her out but she couldn't move. She felt her pulse but nothing.

Nurse 1: the pulse is very faint. We need to get her checked.

Nurse 2: yes, let's get this thing off her.

They did get the clothing off her and one of the nurses said she was going to get Dr. Bundi so she rushed out and a few seconds after she did, Lexi got up, hanged the clothe on the nurses neck and twisted it to it's breaking point. She was dead.

Lexi: fool!

She said getting up and quickly finding her way out of the room. She ran along the corridor and spotted a nurses station ahead so she went and got in.

When she got in, there was a nurse who was changing for her shift and when the nurse spotted her she asked what she was doing there and before she could raise an alarm Lexi ran up to her, and grabbed her. They struggled abit with Lexi trying to get a hold of her mouth so that she couldn't scream but she bit Lexy then Lexi grabbed her head and hit it on the floor several times till the head burst and blood spilled on the floor.

She then took the dress the nurse had come with from home and wore it then hid inside the trolley that contained dirty clothes worn by patients and sat there waiting to be escorted to the laundry room then she could find her way from there. Lexi couldn't leave the hospital just yet because there was already a commotion outside about her disappearance...
