Chapter 7 Winter raged outside, but Brennus and Cyprian stayed safe and warm in their cave. The fire didn’t have a large space to heat and therefore it didn’t take much firewood to make the environment comfortable. One morning, however, Brennus awoke, feeling as though he’d been wrestling a bear in his sleep. His whole body ached and his head felt heavy. “You look as bad as I feel,” he said when Cyprian woke up. In all honesty, Cyprian looked much worse than Brennus felt. Poor Cyprian could hardly lift his head, and he wheezed with every breath he took. Despite his own ill health, Brennus got up and added wood to the fire, stoking it so the flames were soon three times as high and throwing out five times as much heat. He wrapped a fur around his shoulders and took their small cooking
