Chapter 6
It was the day after the burial, and while Carlos felt too drained to want to get out of bed, he forced himself to get up. Carlos tried to blame it all on the heat, but he knew it was from the emotional toll the past few days had taken on him.
He took a nice shower then got dressed. Carlos decided the best thing for him to do was to explore the ranch before dinner time. The sun wasn’t as harsh and there was still time before it would go completely down, so he figured he should take advantage. He knew exactly where he wanted to go first: the stables. While his old horse, Captain, was probably long gone, he would be able to see the new ones his family had acquired over the years.
