It had been a couple of days since Carlos arrived at the ranch. He and Beto were trying to get along as much as they could, though you could still feel the tension between them. While Beto had extended the offer for Carlos to help with the final funeral arrangements, it was in all honesty just a symbolic gesture. Whatever choice Carlos made, Beto would go against, or say that it wasn’t what their mother wanted.
Eventually, Carlos just gave up and went with whatever Beto demanded. Though sometimes he fell into the “Beto may be right” trap, he realized that even all those years apart could not have erased the things he knew about his mom.
