Chapter 6

LEO’S POV. Owning a lot of organizations and companies all over the world requires a lot of work, which equally means no much sleep and more work. Converting my work time hours into sitting in a hospital waiting room means nothing. I really hope she is my daughter. I didn’t want a child back then, but now I do. I want my wife back and although the contract has already expired, who cares? I will win her heart again. As for my daughter, if she is. I am taking her immediately. “Leonardo, there is a free VIP room available just sleep. The result will be out in like twenty minutes.” Clara says as she walks back out in her uniform. “If I have waited for more than five hours, I can still sit. Thanks for the offer though.” I say and she comes to sit beside me. “How is Damon?” She asks out of the blue. “He is fine.” I reply. I know she wants to hear more than I have replied her, but she is also the best person to know me since she dated Damon for six years. She knows I never talk much and even I do, not at this moment… “Is he… urm you know? Is he??” I know her question already. “If he has gotten into another relationship?” I ask and she closes her eyes then open them again before nodding. “Yes..” She replies. Damon? Everyone knew he was smitten by Clara. I don’t know what made Clara cheat in the first place to have their relationship ruined, but Damon is a faithful ass. He swore that if he didn’t end up with Clara he will stay unmarried. It is difficult to do, right? But he has survived without getting involved with other women. Girls throw themselves at him, but you know when someone already dedicates his heart to someone. Every other afterword is a waste, just like I am now. I love my wife and I hate myself for traumatizing her. “I know I am the one at fault. I want him to move on. Don’t get me wrong, I am not getting married to another man. I still love Damon, but he doesn’t want to hear me out.” She says. “You really want him to move on?” I manage to ask. “To be honest, NO.” She says, laying emphasis on the No. Just when I want to reply, a colleague of hers makes a sign for her to come and meet him. “Leo, the test results are out already. I won’t check it because we are close friends, but I hope everything is alright. I hope you are not with that b***h Aurora.” She says Aurora’s name in disgust. “I am not and thanks for not checking the result.” I say and walk over to the male doctor who has the test result. “In my office?” He asks and I nod as he leads the way to his small office close to the lab. “Is the girl mine?” I ask and he smiles as he hands the paper over to me. I am fast to open the paper and my assumptions are now summed up to a conclusion when the little girl’s DNA matches with mine, We have 99.99% donor match. Which signifies that she is my daughter. The paper shakes in my trembling hands as tears of hope cloud my vision. Probably, my Brie is alive. I hope she isn’t dead, but why is our daughter in an orphanage… “Congratulations, Mr. Rucci. You must be extremely happy to find your child. Good luck.” He says. As I step out, I hand over Damon’s contact card to Clara and make a ‘call him sign to her’. “Leo, are you okay?” She asks and I just nod. Leaving the hospital, I wipe my tears clouded vision so that I will be able to drive. I look at my wrist watch which indicates that it is almost six thirty in the morning. A normal time for serious minded people to go out, if not five. I would have gone home, but not now that I know I have a daughter and I know where she is. It is also her birthday and it will be so awkward to start to just go and tell her that I am her father. She might hate me and that is another fear of mine. I will just watch her from afar… Can you? “No, I can’t.” I reply my inner mind loudly as I drive back towards the orphanage. I need to either talk to Isabella or the owner of the orphanage, Lady Ann. We have met before on a charity service ten years ago, but we didn’t even exchange numbers or try to make friends because I am not the friendly type… except to Brandon and Damon. The orphanage’s building comes into view as I drive closer and get off my car. I meet an average age lady who I assume to be working here because she has the name of the orphanage on her cloth. “Can I talk to you for a minute please?” I ask and she gladly turns to me with a smile plastered on her face. She has just gotten the wrong idea. “A child here has her birthday today, Is she still in or she has been taken to school?” I ask and just when the lady is about to reply, lady Ann steps out. “To whom do we owe this honorable visit?” She asks as she folds her hand behind her back.                                                                           “Dismissed.” She adds and the lady scurries off. “It has been a decade lady Ann. Do you mind if we have a word in your office?” I ask. “Of course. I knew you wouldn’t come except for important reasons.” She says as she leads me through a long corridor. “I can just come on a random visit. I may just want to see the kids.” I say and she gives out a small laugh. “Oh no you can’t we all know you to be over busy.” She says as she opens the door to a large office and I walk in after her. “No, Ma’am.” I reply and she chuckles and gesture for me to sit on the chair in front of her desk as she settles on her own swivel chair. “Shoot, son.” She says as she adjusts her glasses. “Firstly, who is Isabella and the girl she was carrying with her yesterday. Who is the little girl to her?” I ask and she rests on her table. “Firstly, how do you know Isabella and how did you find out she carried a girl out yesterday? Have you been stalking her?” She asks. “I met Isabella yesterday. She must have told you a guy delayed her at her acting agency, I am the one. We are supposed partners in the next movie she is going to act. For the stalking part, no. I didn’t stalk her, she happened to come to my cloth store here in Mexico and I saw my girl with her.” I say and she removes her glasses. “Your girl? That girl has no parent.” She says and I feel my heart twitch. Is my wife dead? “Is her mom dead?” I ask. “I will only reply you because you have been supporting this orphanage for years even if you won’t come in person.” She says and I let out a brief sigh of relief as I wait impatiently for her to speak.
