Emily hurried to the car. Her cheeks were soft and delicate, and the light reflected her skin, glistening and translucent.
Charles' pupils deepened slightly, and the scene of the night a month ago unconsciously came to his mind.
The woman beneath him seemed to have a seductive body odor, and her skin was delicate, pure as eggs, his calloused fingertips kneading her plump breasts. Though he clearly restrained his strength, there were still faint traces on her skin. What a fragile woman.
He remembered that the daughter of the Miller family had been pampered at home and seldom showed her face in public, but now she was calculating with her brother, so she can’t blame him for being ruthless.
Emily carefully sat on the far side of the seat, always with her head hung low, without saying a word.
The car drove slowly into a neighborhood, which covered a very wide area in the prime location of the city. Each of its villas was separated by a sufficient distance to ensure the elites’ privacy.
Half an hour later, the car stopped at the gate of the innermost villa.
The magnificent building was low-key costly, with two separate main buildings and a large garden full of greenery, showing the designer's exquisite skills everywhere, as if they were in the middle of a castle.
The driver got out of the car and opened the door respectfully. Without a word, Charles walked into the courtyard, with Emily following him in small steps.
When Emily got out of the car, Charles looked indifferent and walked straight into the villa.
"Sir, you're back," the chubby housekeeper Susan came out and set Charles’ slippers in place.
Charles looked indifferent and walked straight inside. Susan's eyes then fell on Emily.
"You're Miss Emily, right?" Susan asked, with a big smile on her face, looking very kind.
Emily pursed her lips, nodded back with a smile and went straight into the villa.
When she was in Emily couldn’t find Charles, so she stood in the black and white living room, somewhat nervous.
Although the place was luxurious, not a trace of popularity was found, which made her feel very cold.
Susan's voice rang in her ears. "Sit down for a while, I'll get you a glass of water."
Emily nodded and gestured, [Thanks.]
Susan was in shock. This is sign language. Is this girl, a mute?
Emily showed her a smile. With her delicate face and the innocent smile, she looked like an angel who fell into the world by mistake. Susan's heart melted instantly.
Emily held a glass of water and took small sips of it. Susan's gaze made her feel uncomfortable all over. Emily had lived in the Miller house since she was a child, never went out, and naturally did not know what people on the outside thought of her.
Not long after that, Susan went to work, so the living room was now empty. Emily was even more confused than ever. she knew Charles did not like her, but since he took her here, at least settled her down.
Just then, Charles walked down the stairs in a blazing chill and stood directly in front of Emily.
But now Charles had changed the pen-fitted shirt, wearing a light gray sweatshirt and jeans. His whole aura was lower, but it still made Emily feel pushed.
Emily blinked at the tall man who suddenly appeared in front of her with confusion written all over her face.
The more Charles looked at her overly innocent face, the more disturbed he was. She’s such a wicked and vicious woman, why does she always put on an innocent and pitiful look in front of men?
Is..Is this also one of her schemes.? Just to try to win my sympathy?
"You have achieved what you want, why don't you show off your winning? Now that you are the owner of the place, you wicked vicious woman must be overjoyed, huh?"Charles spoke coldly, his tone full of mockery.
Emily was baffled. Has this man lost his mind? I didn’t do anything, why and when did I become a wicked and vicious woman?
She stood up in anger and tried to retort to Charles, but her movement was a little too rushed and her ankle twisted directly. Panic surfaced on her face and she reached out and waved wildly until she touched a warm and solid body and finally stabilized herself.
The muscle line under her palm was smooth, and she clearly felt the strong and powerful heartbeat underneath. Emily's delicate cheeks instantly flushed. Just as she was about to let go of her hand, her wrist was caught by a large hand.
The force was so strong that it looked like it was going to crush her wrist!
"What? You just entered my house and you can't help but throw yourself at me?" Charles' icy voice rang out overhead.
Emily felt a pain in her wrist and tried to pull it out, but his strength was frighteningly strong, and she simply could not break free.
She couldn't help but raise her face, her clear, bright eyes glaring angrily at Charles, her other hand desperately slapping his hand. She wasn't going to throw herself at this man, she hated him just as much!
Charles radiated a morose chill. "Why don't you say something?"
Emily's movements stalled.
Susan happened to come out of the kitchen, and spoke in shock, "Sir, don't you know that Miss Emily can't talk?"
Charles looked puzzled. What do you mean? She can't talk?
After thinking back carefully, it seemed that Emily had never opened her mouth and said anything.
Is... Is she a mute?
His near-judgmental gaze fell on Emily's face, but she looked away slightly. She bit her lips and embarrassment flashed through her eyes.
That’s true, she’s a mute. She can not speak and can only sign. Few people can understand her and treat her as an ordinary person.
But she had no choice. Even if her self-respect was thrown in the gut, she still had to pay off her family's debt. The Miller Group still needed her. It was the property left by her parents.
Charles was a bit unable to accept the fact that the wife he was forced to marry was a mute. A mute!?
People couldn’t tell his feelings on his handsome face... He just let go of Emily's hand and turned to leave the villa.
Emily breathed a sigh of relief.
"Miss Emily, please follow me," Susan walked up to Emily and said in a soft voice.
Emily nodded and followed Susan up to the second floor.
Susan took her to a bedroom, opened the door, and said, "Miss Emily, you can stay here for now, and when Mr. Corvo comes back, we can talk about the future plans, okay?"
Emily was stunned. She did not expect to meet such a gentle and kind housekeeper in such an awful man’s house. She smiled and nodded.
After Susan left, Emily entered the room without much gawking. She sat directly on the edge of the bed.
Emily lowered her eyes and reached up to caress her stomach.
There was a little life being inside her. Even though she disliked the child, She had no way to escape now. Npw that the Corcos wanted this child, She would wait for the baby to be born and leave then.
