Ace's POV:
All day I've been trying to figure out why she didn't turn me in. She could've, s**t if I were her, I would've.
It's not like I caused that much trouble, I just like to keep the town busy, call it my patriotic act as a citizen of this shitty town.
I give the cops something to do, I am the reason they get paid and feel like they earned their paychecks.
Its guys like me, Nicholas and even that f*****g prickhead Seth that keep this town alive.
Oh, and the dog.
For as long as I could remember, it's been the same faces, the same town and the same f***s.
I'm almost tired of using the same girls over and over, I've even started lookin outside town, to get at least someone who isn't married to or f****d my neighbors.
I've f****d two of my high school teachers, both just desperate for the same thing I was, a new body, the sensation of someone we both haven't had yet.
There's only one that seems to drown my mind out though.
The same one I've m*********d to for years, since the first time I saw her in her little black bra and matching panties. She forgot to close the blinds, sometimes I think she does it just to tease me. That was seven years ago though, and now she's a grown woman, very grown and nicely too.
Staring over at the girl glaring into her book, I wondered if she knew how aggravatingly hot she was, how tempted I am to climb out my window and into hers.
As if wanting to bang Max's younger sister wasn't a tempting dream of mine.
I hated Max since kindergarten, but I've always had a thing for Katie. Ever since she was in first grade and we were in second. She was sitting by herself on the swings wearing a pair of red overalls and her hair braided back. She was quiet and stared at everyone with a bit of fear.
Her brother ignored her, didn't even try to introduce his sister to the others, to make her feel comfortable in the confusing and new place. After all, kindergarten and first grade are two totally different types of school.
She was the prettiest girl I'd ever seen, I even told my brother she was going to be my girlfriend. My brother said I'd get cooties, I didn't care though.
I knew I really liked her the day I got shoved into the monkey bars by some big girl claiming I stole her donut. (I didn't steal it, in fact I didn't even know the bitch.)
Katie walked over and helped pull me up and then gave me a small smile before she turned and walked away to the swings again.
That small gesture was enough for me.
I was going to introduce myself, to be her friend, but Hannah beat me to it. With her prudence self and big glasses.
She ruined my chance of ever being a semi decent guy, I'm sure if I'd grown up alongside Katie I would've been a better person.
Then again, Max grew up under the same roof and still managed to f**k his and others lives up.
I'm sure no one knows that Max was actually a piece of s**t.
God knows how many times I caught that guy f*****g drugged and passed out girls at parties. Max was the type of guy who found it funny and when guys talked about his sister, he'd make jokes about selling her to them.
I don't think I'd ever tell her about that, sometimes I think I should though, her image of him disgusts me. Constantly seeing her brother as some hero and champion gone too soon.
He wasn't gone soon enough.
He was the typical scumbag, a quiet druggy with a good guy mask that made him seem like the towns hero.
Just a prick in disguise.
Yet they don't see that, s**t he's the golden boy here in this backwards ass town.
I'm the f**k up, the rebel who ruins everything here. I just don't think anyone in this town has a right to be at peace, they're all just self absorbed sacks of bone and blood.
As soon as I make enough money, I'm out of here.
Long gone from this s**t hole and wasteland they call a town.
Staring ahead, I watched her get lost in her reading before she ran a hand over the page and up to the top, ready to turn the page. The anticipation in her lips as they moved over every word was a bit sexy.
Her big brown eyes grew as she looked so intrigued at the words before her. Only one thought passed through my mind:
I'm going to ruin that little Angel.
The door opened and I stared over at dad who was wreaking of alcohol. "I need more beer." He said mumbling it drunkenly.
I sighed in annoyance.
He's almost done blowing through our savings and if he doesn't get a job we'll be living on my working money and I'm not sure I'm up for that.
Getting up, I gestured for him to get out, "Go to bed, I'll go get some." I said watching him stumble out the room to his room down the hall. Losing my brother was one thing, but when my mom left him that was the turning point of his life.
Such a great mom, left me stuck with this asshole.
She checked herself into a mental institution in New York and sends postcards every couple months. She lost her s**t.
It's been a joyous couple years.
For Angel and I.
I'm not sure it's going to get any better either. We're both destined to a life of hell, of taking care of our distraught fathers and being tied to a town that constantly reminds us of what we lost and what we learned.
Giving Katie a last look, I flipped off the lights and headed out to get the one thing that nulled my fathers demons from his mind.
Time to get the drunk his fix.
