I don't know why but him saying the term of endearment was nothing more than an act slightly stung.
I don't know why but my body seems to crave him, his approval, the way his eyes soften when he looks at me, even if briefly.
I've never let anyone get close, I've always kept myself private. I know what my future holds, and I don't want to drag anyone down with me.
Yet, with Hades it's different. My strong will and hard headedness disappears when he's around. He can see past my demons to the whimpering scared little girl underneath. That's something I've never had.
"Is there something else you'd prefer I call you Lilli?"
His husky voice derails my train of thought. I turn my eyes to him, only to find his face has hardened again.
