Chapter 4:The Breaking Point

238 Words
Chapter 4: Breaking Point One night, after another endless day of staring at the walls, Mira found herself standing on her balcony, looking out over the city. The lights below were distant, like a thousand tiny stars, and for a brief moment, she felt a pang of longing. But what was the point of longing? What was the point of wanting something more when it seemed so far out of reach? As she stood there, the weight of everything seemed to crash down on her all at once. She felt trapped, suffocated by the pressure of her own thoughts, the constant hum of emptiness. It was like a suffocating silence that threatened to swallow her whole. And for the first time in months, she allowed herself to cry. Not the quiet, contained tears that came in little bursts, but the kind of sobs that shook her entire body, wracking her with the force of the pain she had kept hidden for so long. Her phone buzzed again. This time, it was her mother. “I know something’s wrong, Mira. I love you. Please talk to me.” But the words felt hollow. The space between them felt insurmountable, like a vast chasm that no one could cross. Mira wanted to reach out, to explain, but it felt like there was nothing left to explain. She didn’t know how to fix this. She didn’t know how to fix herself.
