Walker I was at the bar, bouncing in place to the music at Johnny’s Hole—my favorite club—when a hand touched me lightly on the shoulder. “Buy you a drink?” I turned and smiled at the stranger standing next to me. “You can buy me anything you want, hon!” The stranger laughed. “I bet.” He held out a hand. “Noah Stiles.” I shook it. “Sonny Bonhomie.” “Does that mean you’re happy all the time?” I smiled. “So I’ve been told.” Noah gestured to the closest bartender. “Heineken and…” He raised an eyebrow at me. “Guinness, please.” The bartender nodded and moved away to fill our orders. “So you’re here a lot, I’ve noticed,” Noah said as his light brown gaze raked me over from head to toe. He was a tasty specimen, at least six inches taller and thick with muscles. I wanted to climb his body and lose myself completely. I wasn’t in the least bit handsome, but I got my fair share of s****l partners, maybe because I kept myself in shape, or I was just that easy. At least I got laid enough to forget about my unassuming features, most of the time. It hadn’t come up, so far. The heat of Noah’s stare made me burn. “You’ve been watching me?” I asked, sidling a little closer to him. I hadn’t seen Noah here before, though it could just be that I’d been otherwise occupied. If I had, I would have made his acquaintance immediately. I wasn’t shy in going after what I wanted. “You’re hard to miss, Sonny,” Noah replied. “You dance the hardest, laugh the loudest, and wear the tightest pants I’ve ever seen.” I grinned. “They make my ass look good.” I worked out enough to be confident in my assertion. He licked his lips. “That they do.” The bartender returned right then and Noah paid for our drinks. “Thank you,” I said before taking a sip. “My pleasure.” I watched him drink his beer and wanted to lick the muscles of his throat as they contracted with each swallow. “So what do you do, Stiles?” “Cop. You?” I took a few seconds to recover from my handcuff fantasies before replying, “HR Manager.” “Matches your personality.” “Very much so.” Something occurred to me. “Why haven’t you approached me before, if you’ve been eyeing me all this time?” “It just seemed to be right to do so tonight.” His response was a little vague for my tastes, but I let it go. s*x was in the offing. I shrugged. “Okay. Well, you’re here now, so, wanna go back to my place?” He laughed. “You’re not afraid to go after what you want, are you?” I felt no need to be ashamed of that. “Not at all. Life’s too short!” I finished my beer, waited until he gulped his down, and grabbed his hand. “Let’s go, Mr. Policeman.” Noah chuckled and let me hustle him out the door. “My car is over there,” he said, pointing to a dark blue Camaro a block down. “Did you drive?” “Took a cab.” He unlocked the car door and ushered me into the passenger seat before getting in the car himself. “Where to?” “Chandler Heights.” “Got it.” Noah started the car and took off.
