5. Rosemary, the girl I killed.
**Rain drop, trickling thousands of little rain drops poured from the sky wetting the land. Lilly, who was of thirteen years of age, enjoyed the rains with an umbrella held in her hands while she jumped from one puddle to second. There were many others on the street marching behind one another like an umbrella brigade. The sky was extra ordinarily pouring with thunderous lightning— it was not a good sign though.
"Be quick Rosemary. We will be late, otherwise." Lilly impatiently called the beautiful girl who was chasing her.
She had great chocolaty brown hair with big eyes as that of a Barbie. Her height was pleasantly tall and smile, her smile was breath taking. Every inch of her face screamed of guilelessness.
She huffed meeting eleven years old lily who came to her waist, barely. Her eyes narrowed as her cheeks swell up while she frowned. "Haven't I told you to be slow on the streets. Oh Lilly, why can't you see the rush and the big holes on the streets. You can get harmed." Her frowned replaced with concern.
"I am sorry but i am too excited. You know I have waited for two full weeks for the Barbie premiere. I want to see the movie today." Little Lilly pouted staring at Rosemary. "Please can't we not hurry? Please." She was too cute to be refuses.
Rosemary sighed, her lips crept with a nervous smile as a conversation flashed in her mind. "Oh sweetheart, I wish if can refuse but to tell you a secret, your brother Harry has warned me to not leave the house today, not at all with you for the premiere. Haven't you seen the news today, the weather forecast expects a big rain storm today. We should not have come today, may be some other day. " She tried to make Lilly understand but as young as she was, all she cared was for the movie.
Her cheeks burned with crimson as her eyes filled with tears. Lilly loosened her grip on the umbrella and it hung on her shoulder. "Hey, what are you doing?" Rosemary asked, the tears in Lilly's eyes affected her.
"Please don't take me back. I know Harry will be mad but it is a matter just of two hours. We will rush back home even before Harry or mama or dada's return. Please, Rosie, please!" little Lilly sobbed, she attached her palms and joined them across rosemary and begged.
Her eyes had some unshed saline drops of tears. Rosemary pouted, this little thing was her toy, love, best friend, reason of smile and every that thing that gave her happiness.
The clouds roared overhead, at the noise, Lilly stuck closer to Rosemary's knee and let out a scared moan. She breathed fearfully while peeking out of the umbrella over the growling sky. "I feel scared!" she innocently chipped.
"Then better hurry up or else we will miss the beginning." getting up on her feet Rosemary smiled, she held Lilly's palm and walked further.
"Yayy, we are here!" Lilly jumped in amazement, she was finally outside the theatre.
Her smile was so precious and adorable that all the fear and concern Rosemary had towards leaving the house without telling anyone was long forgotten. "Now let's go in." she dragged Lilly inside.
(After the premiere ended)
"That was nice. I really loved Aurora." Lilly squealed.
The film that she had waited for two weeks to watch was finally watched. The utility she derived from it can never diminish for her. She jumped and clapped, least cared about the thundering cloud upon their heads.
" Thank you so much Rosemary, you bought to the premiere without letting Harry or parents know. Thank you so much." Sinking in emotions Rosemary bent down to match Lilly's height. She stared her cute face and smiled.
"Anything for you, my dear." Caressing her wet cheek, wiping the drops of rain water away from her skin just as Rosemary stood up.
"Ice cream!!!"
"Lilly no!" she witnessed Lilly jumping and running towards the ice cream parlour that was on the other side of road. "Lilly, stop!" she ran behind her dreading with fear as Lilly was in the middle of the road.
The signal was unfortunately red and the vehicles were running recklessly. At a point, she saw Lilly stopping and turning around with a crying face, she was scared of the vehicles moving on both the sides while she stood glued in the middle of the road. "Rosemary" Lilly cried holding her colourful umbrella tight.
"Don't move, I will get you. Don't move." Rosemary rushed, she fretted watching a bus approaching Lilly with deafening honks that it gave as warning, coming from the left and increased her anxiety. She let go of her umbrella and ran to get Lilly. "Lillyyyyy!"****
I woke up with a jolt. My breaths doubled in horror as the same nightmare hit me again. My blurred vision could see an unclear image of a girl who smiled and waved at me.
That was Rosemary, my foster sister who came to live with us when I was a kid.
She was humble and beautiful. I don't remember much about her, just that I know I killed her. And that was the reason why Harry started hating me, so did my parents.
Harry loved her. Our parents knew about that and had no issue. She completed our family. Completed Harry and handled his anger. She was like the cure to his demonic anger.
She was the kind of sister in law with whom I can stay forever. She was more than a family to me. My parents and brother always avoided me, as I said I don't remember since when, so every time they treated me like a third wheel, she took care of me.
And that day, the same happened. I don't remember things quite strongly but that day, I can never forget. Because that day marked the endless tortures and tears in my life. Rosemary's death and my hellish life on earth.
I reminisce, I wanted to go and watch a Barbie movie that Harry had been delaying for a long time. He was not as violent as he is now. He never talked to me properly, but he took care of my needs— only to keep rosemary happy.
The weather forecast had predicted heavy rain storm and so, he delayed it again before going out of the house for some reason. Our parents were working even in the stormy situation and it was just her and me. She knew why was I sad and decided to take for the movie herself without letting neither my parents nor Harry know about it.
We were sure to return before their arrival and pretend as if nothing happened. Sadly, the day itself wanted to speak against us and prove that we did go out in spite of being given infinite warnings from Harry. Our parents never cared much about both of us after Rosemary's arrival in our life.
It was going good. The premiere was over, and we were going to go him back until I spotted an ice cream parlour on the other side of the road and ran to reach it. Nevertheless, the roads scared me and I stopped. Rosemary came to my rescue as I was crying by that time now.
I was too scared to move as the noise of the honks and screeching tyres on the wet road split my ears. She shouted for me to stay put and that she would get me. She was about to come and take me in her arms but before that, she noticed a bus coming towards me.
And to save me, she pushed me on the side of the road— gladly accepting the death that was mine.
I had fainted after being pushed but when my eyes opened, I found myself in a hospital bed and a messed up Harry beside my hospital bed, soaked in water and his clothes covered in blood. His eyes were wet with tears and lava like red as he stared me when I looked at my side.
"Huh!" My heart melted, I forgot breathing and eyes stilled like I was given a thousand Watt shock.
The hair on my skin erected as the horrifying scene was playing in front of my eyes again. "H-Harry." I did not notice earlier but I was in a hospital bed just like I mentioned before. I regretted realizing my current location and dreaded to look in my side.
Was Harry there too?
With a bit of courage just as I moved my eyes to look beside me, my eyes left wide opened as there, Harry was sitting on the stool next to my bed, drenched in blood and water again however his face was hung low.
Was the history repeating itself?
Did I kill someone yet again!
He won't leave me this time.

(feeling sorry for Lilly. How can her family be so cruel! Let's see if Lilly gets some support.)
