Avery's P.O.V
Mason and I had just arrived back after spending the afternoon playing pool. The girls nowhere in sight. I don't expect them again until the shops close, to be honest. I grabbed us both a sofa before heading to sit down.
"So what is the plan? When are you going to put a ring on your girl's finger?" Mason smirked, looking at me.
"I could ask you the same thing," I laughed.
"Hey, Layla isn't the one that is pregnant, that will be Hailey." He laughed.
"What has that got to do with anything?" I chuckled.
"Gotta make your babies mama you wife buddy." He said.
I shook my head, laughing at him. I know he was messing with me.
"I will do it when the time is right," I said, "One thing at a time. I am still trying to get my head around that I am going to be a dad in a few months. And I need to get us a place of our own, then maybe I can think about asking her to marry me." I added.
"I guess that makes sense. It can't be easy for you two to get "alone" time staying with her parents, then your mum moving in too." He said.
"We manage," I laughed, "One of the many reasons we need our own place," I added.
"You nervous about Noah being born?" He asked.
"I am terrified, to be honest. I won't stop being scared until Noah is here and I know both him and Hailey are OK." I said.
"They will both be fine buddy," Mason smiled.
"What if I can't do this, Mason? What if I suck at being a dad?" I sighed, running my fingers through my hair.
"You won't be Avery. You are going to be a great dad." He said.
"I hope so, both of them deserve the best, deserve the world, and I hope I can give them that." I said, "Well, the closest I can anyway." I added.
"And you will." He said, "Stop worrying. You and Hailey are going to be great parents." He added.
"I know, I know, I can't help myself," I said.
"It is only natural, but the two of you won't be alone, you have all of us around you." He said.
I smiled at him with appreciation. I know we wouldn't go through this alone. I think that helped because if it were only Hailey and me, I would be freaking out a hundred times worse than what I am now. It was good to have some guy time, especially with Mason. Yes, he acts like an i***t at times, but he has always been there when I need him the most. He was my only guy friend I could open up to that wouldn't laugh in my face for getting too emotional.
"What about you and Layla, you two happy with how things are right now or you ready for more?" I asked.
"We are both happy with how things are at the moment. After we are done with College, we will see what happens with marriage and family." He said, "I sometimes forget we are all still only teenagers." He added laughing.
I think we all sometimes did. I sure wasn't expecting to be in a committed relationship with the love of my life and expecting our first kid at this age.
"I know everything changed so quickly," I said.
"It did, yes but I don't think I would change anything." He said.
"Me neither," I smiled.
Mason and I changed the subject after that, deciding that was enough heart to heart time. I swear it is Hailey and Layla's fault we are like that, they have broken us. I don't mind, though, she was worth every damn second.
We decided to put the Xbox on and play that. It would keep us occupied until the girls got back. Hailey's parents wouldn't be home until about eight, so we won't be disturbing them.
"Huni, I am home." I hear Hailey giggled as she comes in a couple of hours later.
I was dreading the amount of bags that they would walk in with. I was surprised when I saw they never had too many, only a few each.
"Where are the rest of the bags? Have you hid them?" I laughed.
"No, this is it so ha, proved you wrong." Hailey giggled, sticking her tongue out at me.
I chuckled, getting up from the sofa and taking the bags from her. She smiled, thanking me with a kiss before sitting down.
“I am exhuasted,” She said.
"Have you been overdoing it today?" I said, giving her a stern look.
"I was shopping, Jeeze, I wasn't building a house or partying," Hailey said, rolling her eyes at me.
I knew I was overprotective at times with her and Noah; I couldn't help myself.
"I know, I know. Sorry Kitten, you know what I am like," I said.
"A pain in my ass." She giggled, "But I still love you." She added, with the biggest smile on her lips.
"And I love you," I said, leaning down to kiss her softly.
Mason and Layla stayed for another hour before they left to head back to Layla's parents, but we made plans to go out for a movie and dinner tomorrow tonight. Hailey was getting tired. She could barely keep her eyes open as she sat on the chair.
"Come on beautiful. You should take a nap." I said.
"A nap sounds good. Can you rub my back, please? It is pretty sore today." She asked softly.
"Of course," I smiled.
I gave her a hand up, heading up to our room. She kicked her shoes off, taking my joggers off and climbing into bed with my tee on. I slipped in next to her, Hailey laying on her side.
I pushed my tee up that she had on and started massaging her back.
"That feels nice, thanks, baby boy." She whispered.
"Anytime my love," I said, kissing her shoulders.
I massaged her back until she told me it was feeling better. Hailey rolled over, which took some time so that she was facing me. She reached in, running her fingers through my hair and then caressing my cheek. I closed my eyes over, smiling and moving into her touch. Even still, the least little touch from her drove me crazy.
"I love you, Avery," She whispered, pressing a gentle kiss to my lips.
"I love you too," I said into her lips.
She pulled away after a moment. I opened my eyes to find her smiling at me, which I couldn't help but return.
"Try to get some sleep sweetheart; you can barely stay awake," I said, stroking her hair.
"Will you stay here with me?" She asked.
"Always," I said her once again.
Hailey turned her back to me again. It was the only way she could get comfortable now most of the time with her bump getting bigger every day. She reached behind her, grabbing my arm and tugging it. I moved closer to her, my front against her back. I slipped my arm around her, placing my hand on her bump. She linked our fingers, and within a second, she was sound asleep.
I wasn't tired, but she prefered it when I lay with her when she was napping. I don't mind. I love snuggling with her. I sometimes fell asleep, not always.
"Sweet dreams beautiful," I whispered.
I could feel Noah moving around, not enough to wake Hailey. I think maybe he knows his mummy is resting.
"I love you too my boy," I said, rubbing her stomach.
She would probably sleep for an hour, maybe longer since she has been on her feet all day. I would lay here with her for as long as she needed me. I closed my eyes over, hoping sleep would take over. I may as well sleep when I can because I know once Noah is here, we probably won't be getting much sleep.
I still couldn't wait to meet him. I can't wait to have him in this world with us.
