A NEW BEGINNING PT. 1

“Aggggh” I let out as I tried to open my eyes and was blinded by the brightness of the lights in the room. “Princess, are you okay?! What hurts? Hold on, let me grab the doctor!” Before I can get a word out, he is already gone from my side and yelling out the door for a doctor. “Ah, welcome back Kazmiyha, you gave us quite a scare back there. My name is Dr. Kelechi. I’m going to ask you a couple of questions to see if there is any damage, okay?” Dr. Kelechi asked. I nodded and listened to his questions. They were simple. What was my name? Did I know where I was and the date? Who the Alpha was and the name of the pack. He never asked what caused my blackout. I’m assuming by the concern in his voice and on his face that he can already tell what happened. After about 10 minutes and a further exam, Dr. Kelechi left the room stating that someone would bring me some food and to take it easy. Maybe after dinner, they could release me. I turned to look at my dad. He looks so worried. “Hey, dad. I’m okay.” “I know. I was out on border patrol when I got the news. I ran as fast as I could to you. Would you like to explain what happened?” Dad has always been a worrywart. I guess it comes with the single-dad package. “Um, dad. I don’t want to discuss that here. When we get home, I’ll explain everything, I promise! One thing I would like to do is eat, though!” I said as the nurse walked in with a cart full of food. I was starving! I didn’t get my breakfast and now, looking at the clock, it was already 5 pm!? Today has gone by and I haven’t even got to celebrate my birthday! I didn’t get to eat breakfast or go out on the town and do some shopping for new clothes… Wait! How long was I talking to my mom in limbo?! “Dad, how long have I been out?” I asked as I took the tray of food that he got off the cart. “Well, princess, I got the mind link around 9 am, and I rushed to the pack hospital from my station once I had relief to take over. So just a couple of hours. -- Honey, are you okay?” “Yeah, dad, I’m okay. I would rather talk about everything when we’re at home.” I said while tapping on my ear. He saw the gesture and made a face. He knew I didn’t like others hearing what we were talking about. All the women in the pack do is gossip about everyone. That’s all I hear on my way to school and home. “Okay, princess. When we get home, we can talk about it.” He said with a smile.

I had no intention of leaving anything out of our discussion later today. I wanted him to know everything from start to finish. Even my conversation with mom. I want him to know that he no longer had to hide anything about her. I can’t believe it though, my mom was the Moon Goddess! Wow! I wonder if I’ll have any special powers or if I’ll have a special wolf! Wait, I haven’t gotten a wolf yet. Will I even get one? Hmmm, I sit up in bed and eat my dinner slowly to not gorge and make myself sick. Thinking about my conversation with my mom and everything that we discussed. It’s a lot to take in. What is to happen to me now that my mate rejected me? Oh my gosh, I only have until I’m 18 to be with my dad and to train before I have to leave!! What on Earth was I going to do!? About this time, Dr. Kelechi came rushing in. In all my thoughts I had started panicking, which caused the heart monitor to start alarming and, me being stuck in my thoughts, couldn’t hear them. “Is everything all right Kazmiyha?” He started checking my blood pressure and listening to my heart and doing all sorts of tests. I was embarrassed but eventually spoke up. “I’m all right, I was just thinking about what had all happened today and it caused me to panic a little. But I’m okay now!” Dr. Kelechi looked at me skeptically but nodded and walked out for a moment and grabbed my charts, “Well it looks like all of your tests from earlier came back well and you seem to be eating well, and any physical injuries seem to have healed already. You are good to go but I am recommending you take a couple of days off from school and take it easy around the house, okay?” I nodded and looked over to my dad, “Ready to go home?” He asked. “Yes, please! I want to put on sweats and lay down in my bed, no offense doc, but these beds suck!” They both just chuckled while dad helped me out of bed. A nurse brought a wheelchair in for me to use until we got to the front of the hospital. I’m assuming dad has a car waiting for us there.

We got to the front of the hospital and as I was about to get up from the wheelchair, I felt a small hand on my shoulder. I looked over and it was Luna Lily. “Good afternoon, Luna, how are you today?” I bowed my head to show my respect. “Oh, stop with all of that dear, how are you doing? I heard what my i***t son did, and I just want to apologize.” “Luna, you do not need to apologize for anything. It wasn’t you who caused me to end up here. I am doing much better now than I was this morning. So much for a sweet 16 huh?” I added my birthday in there to try and lighten the mood some. But somehow that seems to have made her even angrier. “Not only did he reject you, but he did it on your 16th birthday!? I should kill him! Kazmiyah, I am truly sorry for what my son did and don’t you worry, he will be coming to apologize WITH his father and myself beside him.” “Luna, there is no need for all of that, I promise. I am okay and I have made peace with it. Truly, I’m okay!” There was no need for him to come to apologize. After all, my mother was going to make him pay, regardless of who he was and who his parents were.
