The sun was about to set when Alpha Brian started to get ready for his meeting with his sister. He picked up the cloak they'd usually wear back when they were kids and their parents would force them to wear them for their family meetings. Even though they detested it back then, it was one of the few things that reminded him of his childhood and their parents.
He stared at himself in the mirror as he went over his outfit then once again, got lost while looking into his own eyes. They were a light shade of brown and had an innocent round look to them. He had long thick eyelashes that were mostly covered by his jet-black hair.
He had a chiseled strong jaw that gave most of his face its shape, and full pale pink lips that sat under his clean-shaved mustache. He had just shaved his face some minutes ago and the spicy scent of his after-shave filled his room. He looked over at his bed that had his clothes that were sprawled over, which he all tried on before he found the one that he liked and was willing to wear.
Alpha Brian got his face from his mother and his hunky frame from his father. He could always remember what his parent's relationship was like. He loved how his father never missed the chance to tease his mother about his height even though she wasn't that short, but was compared to him. Brian had always imagined that to be the type of relationship his mate and he will have.
He had been thinking about it a lot that he decided he couldn't take it anymore, he was going to see his younger sister so he got the matter off his chest with hopes that it wouldn't be disturbing him even after the talk.
After spraying his perfume all over his body, he kept it down on his table which was filled with the most redolent perfumes money could buy. He put on his shoes before he picked up the expensive flowers he was going to take to her. It was odd, but he knew Maria loved them so he was going to take it to her.
He got his car keys before he left his room, then went downstairs to where the royal guards were waiting to get instructions from him.
"If Beta Louis comes around, make sure you tell him about my whereabouts." He told them.
They all nodded with their heads cast low, "Yes, your highness."
He gave the house one last glance before he left through the backdoor to his backyard which had his collection of cars. Most of the cars there had never even been used because Alpha Brian hardly ever went out and it hadn't been very long since he introduced cars in his country.
He wanted to have it finalized by the human contacts he had in the human world, who didn’t think twice before selling materials to him because he was very influential. He got into his car and revved the engine to life before he left the compound of the palace.
He didn’t have any roads yet as he was waiting for the cars to be available before he started it, if not, the people of the pack will certainly have a problem with it. The drive to Maria’s working place was short because he had to follow a road where people didn’t pass him too much.
He got out once he got to the office and locked the car with a key. He placed it in his pocket before he headed inside the big office. It was the largest one in the pack, and also gave out more efficiency than any other because it was the central trade center of the pack.
Everything, from underwear to coats and shoes was sold out by her office, from her contacts in the human world. Alpha Brian went straight to her office which was at the end of the building. He answered his greetings on the way before he finally got there and knocked on the door of her office.
“Come in,” She said, and then he pushed it open.
Her face lit up when she saw him. She quickly got up from her chair and jogged towards him like a little child to hug him.
“My intelligent sister.” He smiled implicitly before he opened up his arms and she gave him a bear hug.
“My Alpha brother, how are you?” Maria asked as she closed up the door and ushered him inside. She led him to seat on one of the seats in front of her table before she sat down on the one opposite him.
“I am perfect, how are you?”
She sighed as she looked around the room, “Stressed. I’m still trying to get that project done from last year.”
He raised a brow as he got his hair off his face, “What project?”
She rolled her eyes, “Don’t tell me you have forgotten, you literally signed on it! The project where we start to train the locals to make their clothes. You know what? We also recently found a rare silk plant on our farms so we will start harvesting and selling to the human world which will give us a lot of profit.”
Alpha Brian frowned at the idea. The last thing he wanted was for his pack to have recognition from the human world because all they did was destroy.
“Do you think this can happen without any direct connections to our pack?”
“Don’t be silly B,” she laughed. “It is going through another human country’s borders where they’ll take credit for having the silk while they pay us 43% of all the recognition earnings, apart from the 100% profit of the silk coming into our accounts.”
Alpha Brian smiled, impressed with his sister’s creativity. If it was any other person in the seat, they would drive down the pack to the mud.
“I’m so proud of you Maria. So tell me, why did you call me down here?”
“It is nothing important. Why did you decide to come? Something is definitely disturbing you B, I can feel it.” She leaned forward and placed a hand on him.
He sighed as he c****d his head to the window and then pursed his lips, thinking of the most subtle way to tell his sister without her worrying about if his mental health is in check.
“You know what our mother used to go through when she almost got divorced from her father?” He asked her, referring to a time when everything was falling apart from his parents.
“The anxiety?”
He nodded, “Yes, exactly. I think I’m going through the same thing right now even though I’m not having any problems with a woman I love.”
“Then I guess it is time.”
“Time for what?” He asked with confusion written all over his face.
“You know what B, I can’t remember the last time I saw you with a woman.”
“What are you trying to imply Maria?”
She squeezed his hands before she let go of them and leaned back on the chair, “It is time you find your mate. The wolf in you has been beseeching for that to happen but you keep suppressing it down with silly excuses of being an Alpha.”
“I don’t have time for that Maria.”
“Yes, the hell you do. You have to give your best to the pack and the only way to do that is to have a strong-willed Luna like yourself by your side.”
Alpha Brian thought of that for a moment. Falling in love has always been the last thing in his mind. As long as he could get laid whenever he wanted, he didn’t see the need to have a woman by his side. If he wanted advice, he always had his Beta by his side.
“How do I find my mate, Maria?” He asked cluelessly.
“I’ve always had a feeling your mate isn’t in this pack Brian. If she was here then you are supposed to have found her long ago.”
“What do you mean?” He brought his hand up to his thick hair and swept it back again.
“I mean, if only you leave the pack for some time and try getting your mate somewhere else.” She blurted, knowing fully he would cringe at the idea, but she was determined to change his mind. Their parents would want him to do the same if they were alive.
“Are you crazy Maria? This is my pack, I’m not leaving it because I want to find love.” He scoffed.
“You’re doing what will be good for the pack, and yourself too B.”
“Then guess what,” he stood up from his seat. “I am not interested.”
She got up too and stood in front of him before he left, “I know it sounds ridiculous now but promise me you’ll think about it.”
He nodded, even though he had no plans of ever thinking about it again. It was a crazy idea and to even think he could attempt doing so made him feel incompetent.
“Goodbye Maria, we’ll meet again soon to discuss what is bothering you.” He placed a hand on her shoulder. He knew his sister and if she was ready to tell him, she would spill it all out the minute he stepped into her office.
She smiled before she hugged him one last time, knowing she was probably never going to tell him what was going on.
“Goodbye brother.” She whispered before Alpha Brian left her office and headed back to the palace.
