RHETT I paced back and forth in front of the door to the pack physician’s room, my heart beating rapidly in my chest. Inside that room was my mother, getting treatment for whatever had caused her to faint right in front of me just moments ago. I couldn’t shake the feeling of fear that had settled in the pit of my stomach when she collapsed right into my arms. My mind was racing with thoughts of what could be wrong with her. Was it just a simple fainting spell or was it something more serious? Would she be okay? I couldn’t bear the thought of losing her. As I paced, I heard muffled voices coming from inside the room. It must have been the physician and my mother. I strained my ears to try and hear what they were saying, but I couldn’t make out any words. The anticipation was killing me.
