Chapter 3

Leaving the palace with Zara and Finn, I felt a strange sense of warmth. Somehow, I knew I would be safe and loved here. Zara and I jumped into my car, while Finn ran home. I drove to Zara and Finn's house. Zara and Finn had been trying to have children for years, and were unsuccessful. They found out they were infertile. So, when I stayed with them, when I was younger, they treated me like their own child. I love them all the more for that. They were great to me. I guess my parents knew they would treat me and protect me like I was their own child. I guess that is why they wanted me to come here, if anything happened to them. "We redecorated your room. I will help you unpack. Are you sure you want to go to school on Monday," Zara asked. I nodded, "Zara, I need to be able to live my life here. I can't let Mum and Dad's deaths hold me back from an education or finding my mate. I know they wouldn't want that." "You are right there. Did you want to have a party for your birthday?" "Can do, but I don't want anything too big or crazy," I replied, as I pulled up outside their house. Finn was already there. The Lycan's are fast, but they still amaze me. He opened the boot of my car. I grabbed my handbag and Zara grabbed the 4 photo albums I had grabbed as I fled my parent's home. We both got out of the car. Finn grabbed my two suitcases out of the car and said, "I will unload the car and bring the stuff up to your room. You ladies go on up." We smiled, leaving him to carry my suitcases upstairs behind us. Me and Zara made our way into the house. Nothing has changed since I last came here. We made our way straight upstairs, and across the landing to my room. I opened the door to see beautiful new purple curtains and bedding. The bed was a brand new king-sized bed. I had a new desk that was huge. There were mirrors all around the room. A mannequin stood in the corner tucked behind a floor-length mirror. Two doors on one side of my room, one led to a walk-in wardrobe and the other led to my bathroom. "Thank you, Zara. This is perfect," I thanked her. Finn walked in behind us with the suitcases and put them down before turning to leave, but stopped when I called after him, "Finn, thank you. Here, the car keys." I chucked the car keys at him, and he caught them. "You are my niece. You are the closest thing I have to a daughter of my own. So, I will do anything for you," Finn chuckled. I smiled at him. He left the room, as I grabbed my extra large suitcase. Zara grabbed my large suitcase. We both began unpacking each of the suitcases. Finn came up with the two boxes of my fashion designer stuff, the six dresses in dress bags, a wash bag, and a make-up bag. He left the car keys on my desk, before returning downstairs. I made quick work of unpacking my clothes, before placing my jewellry box on the desk and the keepsake box in my bedside drawer. Zara unpacked my shoes, putting them on the shoe rack. She unpacked my bags, my sketchbook, pens and pencils. I put my dresses in the wardrobe. Zara moved my boxes to the end of my desk, while I unpacked my washing bag and the make-up bag in my bathroom. "Well, we made quick work of that," Zara said. I pulled the photo frame out of my handbag, and put it on my bedside. I tucked my phone in my jean pocket. "Are you, ladies, hungry," Finn shouted up the stairs. That's when the smell hit us. Bacon, sausages, eggs, hash browns, and toast. My stomach rumbled loudly. Zara chuckled. "We are both starving," I shouted back. Zara and I raced down the stairs, to devour the food Finn had made. A fried breakfast was just what I needed after not eating since breakfast the day before. We all sat down after breakfast, to watch TV for awhile. A knock echoed on the door, Finn got up and answered it. Upon opening the door, a voice beamed, "Hello Finn, is Violet here? King Robert asked me to bring her school books." I recognised that voice. I got up and shot to the door, very quickly. Amelia. "Amelia," I sang. "Violet, it's good to see you again. Robert told me what happened. I am soo sorry. I have missed you soo much. We need to have a big catch up," Amelia babbled away. "How about tomorrow we go to the gym and do some training? We could go for a run beforehand." "We totally should. How about we meet at 7am tomorrow? I can meet you here. Here are your school books. We actually have all the same classes, which is great because we can help each other study and with homework," Amelia replied. "That'll be great. Oh, you got your phone. I have a new number," I smiled, as she handed me her phone and my school books. I typed in my number on her phone, before handing it back to her. After that, she left. We spent the rest of the afternoon texting. I offered to make dinner. I made my famous lasagne that they both loved. I was just finishing up cooking it. When there was a knock at the door, Finn answered the door. "King Robert and Beta Quinn, what a pleasant surprise. Come in," Finn said in shock. Robert saw me and smiled, "I came to see Violet. I wanted to see how she was doing." Finn nodded in my direction, and all three men walked into the kitchen. I smiled, "It is good to see you again, Robert. Quinn, it has been a long time since we last saw one another." "It is good to see you too, Violet," Quinn replied. "I didn't know you could cook," Robert grinned. "I have been cooking for a very long time." "Her lasagne is a family favourite, but she never shares the recipe. I have begged for years to get it, but we have had to endure waiting until she comes to visit," Zara praised. Robert and Quinn both seemed impressed. Finn flashed me a mischievous grin, "Why don't you both stay for dinner? Violet always makes enough to feed a large family." "We would be honoured. So, Violet, do you want a large family? Is that why you make that much," Robert inquired. "I have always wanted a big family. I just hope that my mate does," I said, my eyes studying his expression carefully. I mean, I knew he was my mate, but I wouldn't know for sure until my birthday. Quinn perked up, then, he giggled, "Oh, I think your mate wants a huge family." I blushed, turning around and chewing my lip. Zara and Finn left to set the table up. I pulled a bottle of rosé Lycan wine out of the fridge. Lycan wine is far stronger than normal wine. It is even stronger than wolf wine. It is designed so that even Lycans can get wasted. I placed it on the side. "That is a fine wine and would go prefect with lasagne," Robert stated. I nodded, before trying to reach for the wine glasses on the top shelf of the cupboard. But, I couldn't reach them. While I was trying too, Robert dashed around the kitchen island and came right up behind me. He placed his hand on my waist, and easily reached up and pulled the wine glasses down for me. "Thank you," I thanked him. "I love how short you are. It makes you all the more beautiful," Robert complimented me. I looked up and met his gaze. As we gazed into each others eyes, we found ourselves leaning closer to one another. Our lips found each other again. The kiss grew deep and passionate very quickly. But, we pulled away quickly when Quinn cleared his throat. I blushed, chewing my lip. Robert couldn't keep his eyes off of me, and would frequently place his hand on my shoulder, hand or thigh, throughout dinner. Conversations flowed between us all. Everyone enjoyed my homemade lasagne. Robert was impressed all the more, even with the wine I had drunk. He thought that a wolf like me would be drunk by now, but I wasn't. The night truly ended perfectly. It was incredible.
