Liam pov
Regrets. Liam thought that regret was for fools. Live hard. Play hard. Screw hard. Regret nothing. He looked at the dive bar he found himself at waiting for the meeting with the Devils MC and apparently he did not fall into that category. Lately he had nothing but regrets. Liam was only thirty-one and the youngest President of the Ghost Demon MC. He got the position when his father was severely wounded in a wreck with the Devil’s over five years ago. The men were angry and of course he was too. There was fighting; stealing of product, and then finally two deaths. One on each side. His father was also severely wounded. It caused each President to broker an end to the fued. His father wanted the end of the the fued same as the Devil’s. While everything in him screamed for vengeance, he had to listen to his father. It was the only way he could get control of the MC. Which was something Liam had wanted since he was ten years old and on the back of his dads bike. The MC was in his blood. His grandfather started the MC fifty years ago, he wasn’t going to let it fail.
The next two years were tough as he had a lot of men testing his ability to lead the club, both from inside the Ghost MC as well as from outside clubs.
Once his father had healed up he came back to help him some with the club politics, but his dad had years of intensive rehab to get out of the wheelchair. The medical bills were astronomical and that fueled Liam’s determination to make sure the club didn’t fail. It hadn’t and Liam expanded the clubs influence. The only club that wasn’t cowered by the Ghost MC was the Devil’s and that was due to their new President. The President had been appointed a few years ago after the last president was taken out in a coup by some rogue members. The new President came in and brought order to the MC. That was the story anyway, one can never tell with the rumors flying around. Women can’t hold a candle in regards to how an old biker can gossip. Can’t believe what is true and what is bullshit. The fact that is true is that the Devil’s were a strong MC that bent to no one.
Liam thought of the new Devil’s President, some guy known as Reaper. Liam rolled his eyes at the road name Reaper. Apparently if you make him mad then he will send you to the Grim Reaper. Dumb. His wasn’t any better. His road name was Magnet and he hated it. Now. When he was in his twenty’s he loved it cause he loved the idea of everyone calling him a “p***y magnet.” His name and reputation came to bite him in the ass and ruined his chance at the only person he ever loved.
He had been on a delivery and decided to stop in a hole in the wall diner to grab something to eat when he saw the most beautiful woman he had ever met. She had a face free of makeup, which was so refreshing given the women he normally slept with caked it on. He hated when that s**t rubbed off on him. Which is one of the reason he just kicked them out after screwing them.
When she took his order Briar didn’t flirt with him in the slightest. He was beyond intrigued by the woman. It was clear that this woman had no idea who he was. Liam started to come back everyday. It took weeks before Briar agreed to go on a date with him. That first date with his Rose was just electric, the two of them had amazing chemistry. She was also funny, sweet, loving, hardworking, and a million things that made him fall hard for her.
It had been four months into seeing Briar when the men at the clubhouse finally noticed that he hadn’t slept with anyone else. Liam honestly wanted no one but Briar. Then the rumors started. He was “p***y whipped.” Some women had him wrapped around her finger. It was the other rumors that caused him to sleep club women. That he had lost his edge and that Briar was an outsider and not to be trusted. Those rumors were dangerous. Liam saw over the years how people fell out of favor with the club by rumors alone and in some cases were killed. He couldn’t let that happen to Briar.
The first time he slept with another woman other than his Rose killed him a little inside, but he did it for the club. They were what mattered. Right? That’s what he told himself at the time. It didn’t change the fact that what he did changed their relationship and Briar didn’t even know. He could sleep with her for a week after that incident. Liam felt so disgusted with himself. He did the best he could to sleep with the club girls as infrequently as possible. His heart only wanted one woman. Now he wished he had the balls to stand up to the men of the MC and he would be happily married with a newborn. Instead he was alone and miserable.
The memory of Briar finding him balls deep inside another woman will haunt him forever. The fact that the woman on top of him didn’t even have the decency to stop grinding on him made it so much worse. Briar ran out of the clubhouse with tears in her eyes and he was hit with the realization that Briar was planning a surprise pregnancy reveal. His woman was pregnant. He didn’t get to enjoy it. His parents told her to let her cool off and he agreed. Liam simply called and texted her. She never picked up. Then she blocked him. He knew their relationship would never recover from him cheating on her. Willow was different than other women. She wouldn’t forgive what he did.
Then he got the call. One of the staff at the hospital called and gave him devastating news. Briar had been brought in for a miscarriage. Liam had to give the phone to his mother to speak to the doctor as he didn’t know what the technological terms were. When his mother started crying Liam knew. Briar lost their child. He thought that was the worst day of his life, but he was wrong. The worst was yet to come. His connections had allowed him to find out that there was going to be a small burial for their child a week after the loss. Liam debated for days whether to go or give Briar time to grief. His mom told him that he had every right to attend as he lost something as well. While it went against his common sense, he headed out to the cemetery alone. He never regretted anything more and that’s saying some given his shitty behavior.
Liam attended the small gathering alone, he didn’t realize the club had shown up until Briar had punched him in the face. Once again surprising him with the ability to even throw a punch.
‘You were the worst thing that ever happened to me,’ his Rose shouted at him that day. That was stuck on a loop in his head for the past six months. Liam knew Briar was right and it pained him to know that. Especially as she was the best thing that ever happened to him.
Greyson. She named their son Greyson he had managed to find out. He lost a son.
Liam let out a sigh and tried to get out of the haunting memories. He waved to the bartender indicating that he wanted a second beer. Liam could loosen up before the meeting but he couldn’t lose his wits. He needed the second beer. Liam stayed in a state of alcoholic buzz almost constantly. While he wanted to reach for the harder stuff, he couldn’t break his own rules for the club.
The meeting tonight was about a few brawls between the MC’s. While the Ghost’s mainly hung out at the packhouse there were several bars in town that members went to when they tired of the same club girls. There were several club members of both clubs walking around the bar. Grim and Reaper were still a no show. Liam checked the time on his phone and they were fifteen minutes late. He looked at the background of his phone and sighed at the picture of him and Briar.
The door suddenly swung opened. In walked two tall men who had to duck to get in through the doorway. They were both bulky in their frames. It was the VP and Prez of the Devil’s MC. It was show time. Liam stood up and the four men met in the middle of the small dingy bar.
“Magnet.”
“Reaper,” he acknowledged the man staring him down.
“Grim.”
“Trenches.”
“Well, let’s get started, now should we?”
The four of them moved to a table and got to business. The once loud bar turned so quiet one could hear a pin drop.
“What’s to be done about the fighting?” Reaper asked.
“Well…”
…
The meeting was over and Liam didn’t know if he would call it successful, but the two clubs weren’t enemies again so there was that. Grim and Reaper were drinking at the bar alongside him and his VP Trenches. Liam finally felt like he could relax so he was shooting the s**t with several of the Devil’s members. The bar started back up again and one could hear the clack of the billiards. The slamming of cups on the bar. Liam felt his shoulders relax as time went on and he continued to drink more. He was sitting there on his third drink when the conversation between Grim and Reaper caught his attention.
“So Reaper I hear you decided to make that girl from last night your old lady?” Grim asked and Liam’s ears perk up. Reaper had an opposite reputation than him for the woman. It was rumored that his nickname was almost the monk. The man did not touch any of the club girls and was trying to get rid of them. Which was met with fierce opposition from his members.
“Yeah man, this girl is everything; smart, funny, and curves for days.” Reaper responded. Grim laughed at his prez’s response
“It was that redhead you left with in the sundress last night right?” Grim asked Reaper which caused his ears to perk up. There were only a handful of redheads in town and one of them was Briar. His Rose. She also loved sundresses.
“Yeah she was so beautiful.” The two continued to talk as Liam turned to the two of them.
“What’s your old lady’s name?” He asked Reaper and he looked at him with a smirk on his face and his eyes dipped to the tattoo on his arm.
“Briar.”
“Oh shit.” Both of the VP’s muttered and all hell broke loose.
