Damien POV
Light greeted my eyes as I woke up. Morning came fast, but I felt fully revived as I shifted in my bed. I had very little sleep since I kept waking to check on the girl resting in my arms, but something about our connection kept me energized.
Watching Luna sleep soundly against me filled me with admiration. I couldn't help but touch her skin and think about last night.
Making her uncomfortable and scared made me feel terrible.
Luna was someone I wanted to keep by my side, despite only knowing her for a day.
I could tell she was strong and would handle herself well in a fight, but witnessing the monster attacking her while she slept enraged me.
Luna could have easily died last night if she did not have access to my blood.
How the hell was she hiding a secret like this, and why? Luna allowed herself to reach the thin line between life and death on multiple occasions.
I felt horrible that she cared so little for her life. Rose, Luna’s wolf, told me Luna considered what was happening to her a weakness and told no one.
Water seems to be the only source that protects her. The nightmares rarely hurt her when she was in the water, and they also revived her with strength and energy.
The negative energy in my room was not something unfamiliar to me. I highly suspected a dark fae might be to blame, but why were they doing it? What did they want with Luna?
I needed to learn more about her so I could help. The entity's energy belonged to my realm, but it had been attacking her for years.
Did a dark fae open the door between realms?
Did someone foresee my destiny with Luna harming her to get to me?
I had many enemies. The dark fae never got along with the light fae. We had a peace treaty, but that did not fully stop altercations.
I was not just the Prince. I was the strongest warrior our Kingdom has seen in centuries. If one of our enemies learned I had a destined mate, they could use her as my weakness.
I could not let them get their hands on Luna. She was unfamiliar with this realm. I had to keep her safe.
Anthony would be by my quarters shortly, and he should hopefully have a safe place secured to keep Luna. I needed to keep her a secret for the time being.
The King, my father, is not accepting of hybrids. To keep Luna with me, I had to find a safe way out of my engagement with Silver.
Since my mother, the Queen, is more accepting, I'll approach her first.
Luna wiggled a little against me as she woke, arousing me once more.
Fuck, she may think of me as a horny pervert waking up to my hardened c**k against her.
I couldn’t help it. Every little thing about her felt right. It was as though she was designed for me.
I guess she was, since we would be with each other.
Luna pulled away as she woke up, but I pulled her back against me, not wanting to lose the connection with her yet.
Luna did not seem to mind my actions, but her wolf warned me she was not always open about her feelings.
“Luna, can I hold you a little longer?” I asked, wanting her permission.
“Yes,” she softly responded as she relaxed against me.
I slid my hand against her skin, exploring, and as I reached her chest, I gently cupped her breast, kneading it softly.
“Mmmm,” Luna moaned, causing my urge to claim her so much stronger.
I had to stop despite my reluctance.
I released my hand as Luna let out a small but adorable whimper.
“You can keep going,” Luna whispered.
I couldn't take the risk of Anthony arriving soon; Luna's safety was my priority.
“It’s not that I don’t want to, but I want to ensure you are in a safe place first. The palace is not safe for you.” I responded against her.
“I understand,” Luna said as I finally pulled away.
“Anthony should have some clothing for you when he comes. I need to take a shower. Are you ok alone in my room, or do you want to come in the bathroom with me?” I asked.
“Come with you,” Luna responded.
I grabbed the t-shirt I had given her and helped her slide it over her head so she did not feel completely exposed around me.
I did not mind having her naked around me. I preferred it, but I doubted she was comfortable.
I led the way into my bathroom and started the water in my shower so it would warm.
I showed Luna to an oversized bench I had by the bath she could sit on, but she surprised me by lifting the shirt again over her head.
“I’m taking a shower with you.” She demanded.
A small grin formed on my face. I really wanted her to be with me in the shower. I just did not want to push her.
I was happy Luna was finally speaking a little more freely now.
I opened the shower door, and we both stepped in. The warm water relaxing both of our bodies.
I poured soap into my hands and took my time washing Luna off and then focused on myself.
The way the water flowed down her was breathtaking as if it became glitter against her skin.
Luna was truly one with water.
Luna noticed my fascination and held her palm up, allowing the water in the shower to flow upwards, surrounding us, and then freeze midair.
I was familiar with magic since most fae possessed a special ability and others like myself multiple. Luna's water manipulation was unlike anything I had seen before, and it revealed her immense power to me.
Luna’s power was extreme and something many would try to get their hands on.
If the dark fae learned of this, they would do anything to take Luna and use her.
I brushed my hand against the floating water, mesmerized, and then softly placed my hand around hers as the water splashed to the ground.
“Sorry,” Luna whispered.
“You don’t have to apologize, Luna, but please don’t show that power to anyone else. I have never seen so much power before, and many will try to take you to use it.” I explained to her.
“I understand,” she breathed.
I heard a faint knock on my bedroom door from the shower.
“f**k, Anthony is here already,” I said as I brushed my wet hair and turned off the water.
“Be there in a minute,” I yelled as I grabbed each of us towel to dry off with.
I instructed Luna to wait in the bathroom while I let Anthony in.
I pointed out where I kept a brush she could use for her hair and a spare toothbrush I had before leaving.
Following my shower, I recognized that I had to use all my strength to keep her safe, and Anthony's help would be necessary.
