The Alpha Healer

Chapter Four

As Zara jumped to attack the first wolf, a brown wolf, the blonde wolf ran towards her, but with a swift bend and a scratch to the throat, she was able to escape the first hit of the blonde wolf, but it gave the brown wolf time to run out of her and attack from behind.

Zara lunged at the brown and white wolf, who crouched and lunged at Zara too. She was able to scratch the wolf by the eye before she was pushed back with force, hitting her back on a tree.

"f**k! That hurt," she says before standing up. The three wolves surround her and mutter a few curse words under her breath. Zara was drained, and if they came at her simultaneously, she might manage to leave a mark on one wolf.

"Release your body to me. I'm not turning, just release your body to me," Athena says.

Zara sighs and closes her eyes, and Athena comes forth.

"I don't wish to kill today, but you shall live and tell the tale of what your ugly fare will be," Athena says to the three wolves in an echoing and deep voice.

With lightning speed, Athena, who's now in control of Zara's body, runs toward the wolves. She punches the first wolf in the shin before running towards the brown wolf, scratching its guts as she does, and then kicking the knee of the blonde wolf in an attempt to break it.

The brown and white wolf growled at Zara when she came to a stop and then lunged at her. It clamped its canines on Zara's shoulders, biting down hard.

"Ah!" Zara shouts in pain. She wraps her arms around the wolf's neck and presses down on a vein. Jamie had taught her that if she held down there, she could make any wolf pass out.

The pressure from her nails made the wolf swing Zara back and forth, but she didn't let go. Enduring the pain in her shoulder, she pressed harder, her claws digging into the fur and breaking the skin. The wolf began to whimper, loosening its grip on her shoulder. As its grip loosened, she kicked back the knee of the wolf, satisfied with the snapping sound it made.

She got to her feet as the wolf passed out and faced the other two who were patiently waiting for her.

"Which one of you fuckers is next?" Zara asked before the two wolves came at her at the same time. The blonde bit into Zara's other shoulder while the brown tried to bite into Zara's arm, but with a new surge of strength, Zara pulled out a canine from the brown wolf, making it howl out in pain. Zara took the one-foot-long canine and stuck it into the neck of the blonde wolf. It whimpered loudly before letting go. Zara had struck all three of them at specific points that'll make them weak for a while.

Zara looks for her bag, and once she finds it, she continues her walk home. Injured all over, she doesn't feel the pain, which lets her know that Athena is still in charge.

"That was a nice brawl, but I need stronger opponents. Those pups were too weak for me,"

"Weak? Athena, I'm sure I'll be writhing in pain when you give me full control." Zara whines out

"Oh please. You're a natural healer, and did you forget that I would help you heal? Besides, I asked to take over because I knew you were tired, and they'll eat you up in a second. But backing down has never been our thing, has it?" Athena says, and Zara can feel her smirking.

"Well, I just want to crash tonight. It'll have been fun to have some fun with Jason, but I'm too weak for that s**t,"

"You're horny, I get it, but remember we have a mate out there,"

"Oh please, I'm sure he's doing worse. Do me a favour, stay in charge so I can get through dinner in peace, but revert your eyes. I'm not about to start explaining to my father that we might be the rumored healer wolf with unexplainable strength," she says to Athena, who retracts the claws.

When Zara first got her wolf, Athena was brown with black eyes, but when Zara started working at the hospital and saving more lives than she could count, Athena's eyes changed, and so did her fur. Her new fur was now black with hints of gold. It was a majestic colour, and Athena had asked Zara not to say anything about the changes for their safety.

Zara walks through the door and sees her dad and Stephania seated and watching TV. Stephania smirks when she sees Zara, making Zara suspect that she set the three wolves, but Zara smirks right back, wiping the smirk off Stephania's face.

"What happened to you?" Greg asks her.

"Just some playful, rough and tumble," Zara says to her dad.

"Well, you're too grown to be playing around like an immature pup. Anyways, come take a seat, I have news for you."

"I don't like the sound of that," Athena says to her

"Me neither," Zara responds to her in her head.

Zara sits in the chair, holding in her wince.

"You're twenty-seven now Zara, and you should have had a mate long before now, and I've been patient, hoping to see if you'll get one, but it's not happened, and I've made a decision," Greg says, making Zara sit up.

"What decision have you taken over my own life?" She questions her father in a haughty tone

"I've betrothed you to an unmated alpha," Greg says. His confession makes Zara's blood run cold. Her worst nightmare is coming true.

"You have no right to do that. You have no right to make such a decision for me. I'm a grown-ass woman for f**k sake!" Zara rants out, but Greg is unfazed

"You should have had a mate since you turned eighteen, but you haven't found yours. It's safe to assume you're one of the unlucky ones with no mate. I did what was best for my child, for you," he says.

By now, tears are running down Zara's face. She stands to her feet

"You've been the worst father to me ever since my mom died, so don't come here acting like you know what's best for me. I won't marry any stupid alpha, and MY decision is final." She says to Greg before grabbing her bag and storming out of the living room.

"I knew the motherfucker had some crazy plans," Athena speaks up

"You knew about this s**t?" Zara asks

"I didn't know about this, I suspected your father had something crazy planned, but I didn't know it was this crazy."

"I can't live my life as a toy to an alpha. He'll never love me because I'm not his mate. Athena, we have to do something,"

"I'm sorry Zara, but there's nothing we can do," Athena says

Zara throws herself on her bed and cries her heart out. She was about to venture into a life of deeper sorrow and be the Luna of a pack and alpha that'll never love her.
