Scott

It was Sunday evening and Rose was working on some homework. While she told Olivia it wasn’t due until tomorrow, she lied to get out of going to her family’s place for dinner. Rose was pretty sure Olivia knew that, but after last Sunday Olivia gave her a pass. Rose was working on her English paper when there was a knock at her door. ‘Huh, Olivia must of forgotten her keys.’ The university had security measures installed. But it honestly wasn’t that hard to get around them. All some one had to do was wait until another student was leaving the dorm. The student would ask to be let in under the excuse that the original student lost their key. Rose got up to open the door fully expecting to see Olivia, but was totally surprised to see Scott. Roselyn was rendered speechless. Scott was the captain of the basketball team in high school, he was very attractive. Scott was the typical all around good guy, except in Roselyn’s opinion. He was the stuff of nightmares, he starred in hers every night. Scott seeing that she was speechless was because it was she was overcome with joy or something. Scott smiled at her. “Hey Rosie.” Rose used to love it when he called her Rosie, now she hate it. It was just a mockery of her delusions. “What are you doing her Scott?” Rose asked with some anger in her voice. “I thought you’d want to see me?” Scott asked, acting like there was no reason she would be upset by his presence. “What are you doing here? You were supposed to be going to Milikin.” Scott let out a smirk, “Checking up on me Rosie?” “Don’t call me that,” she snapped out. Scott looked taken aback, “Look about what happened, it wasn’t my idea. I just went along with it because.” “You but you did! And that’s all that matters!” “Look if your here cause you need tutoring, I saw in the library it starts in a week.” Scott looked surprised, “No I’m here cause I like you, and I can finally be with you.” Rose was shocked, and horrified. Scott started to grab her, and Rose started pulling away. “Hey what the f.uck is going on!” Rose saw Kane charging up to them, and he grabbed Scott off of me. Kane then proceeded to literally dangle him in the air. “Kane stop!” Rose said and rushed over to him. Rose placed a hand on his shoulder. Kane looked down at her with his fierce eyes. “Are you telling me you wanted him to grab you like that?” Rose looked away. “No, but you don’t need to end up in jail tonight,” She said in a quite voice. Kane let out a small grunt, and put Scott on his feet but didn’t let him go. “If I find out you’ve been back to this room, you won’t escape so lucky again,” Kane said menacingly. Scott nodded frantically, and took off. Kane pov Kane trained hard all week, he had a match coming up at the end of the month. Joe said if he did well it could catch the eye of the UFC. That’s what everyone who trained, and fought in MMA wanted. To make it to the UFC, to fight in the octagon. It was a very different Sunday than what Kane had known since him and his mom came to Joe’s house. He loved it, and Kane could tell his mom did too. His mom was also excited to see Olivia’s roommate again for dinner. So when Olivia showed up alone everyone was disappointed. Well not him, Kane just felt bad that his mom was disappointed. That’s what this feeling had to be, right? “Where’s Roselyn?” His mom asked Olivia. Livy smiled sadly, “She said she had homework, but I think she just wanted to skip out on the drama. Can’t blame her, can you?” Olivia asked the room. “No I guess not,” Joe said and they all walked into the dining room. The small blended family had an amazing family dinner. They laughed, and talked about old times. They discussed Kane’s upcoming fight. “Yeah I’m training really hard,” he told his mom. “Where is this one?” Olivia asked. “Here in Chicago, you and your friend should come,” Joe told her. Olivia nodded, “I’ll think about it.” “Come on Livy, you know I always fight better when your cheering for me,” Kane teased his sister. Olivia smiled, “How can I say no to that.” Kane smiled back at his sister. When dinner was over he was corralled into driving his sister back to school since she had taken an Uber to their house for dinner. “Wait Olivia, I picked these things up for Roselyn,” his mom said and handed Olivia several big bags. “What are these?” Olivia asked. “Well I felt bad that she didn’t get anything when we went shopping last Sunday so I picked her up some things at a store my friend recommended. Now whatever she doesn’t want just bring them back next week ok? And make sure that girl knows she more than welcome to come,” his mom told Olivia. Olivia nodded and hugged his mother. When the two step-siblings finally got in the car, and on the road Kane finally asked. “So why didn’t she come?” Olivia turned to him and smiled, “Why do you want to know? Disappointed?” Kane brushed her off, “Of course not. Just curious,” Olivia laughed at him. “Like I said, Rose told me she had homework to do.” Kane gave his sister the side eye, but Olivia didn’t respond. “How’s training coming along?” Olivia switched topics. Kane went with his training, and ran with it. They talked the next twenty minutes about training. “How’s the new guy doing?” Olivia asked suddenly. Kane gave her a startled look as he pulled into a parking space in her dorm parking lot. “What? Don’t tell me you like that guy?” Kane asked. “What? No! Of course not!” Olivia said a little too forcefully. They started walking into the dorm, and walked to the elevator. “Good, cause I kicked his ass last week,” Kane said as the elevator doors closed. “What? How could you?” Olivia shrieked. “Ha! I knew you liked the smart ass!” Kane crowed triumphantly. The elevator doors opened, and they walked out. “No..no I don’t,” Olivia tried backtracking. “Well I hope you don’t cause he’s too caught up in the glamour of being an MMA fighter. He won’t last,” Kane predicted. They started walking down the long hall. “What do you mean?” Olivia asked. “The second you left he was hooking up with one of your friends, he’s into the chicks, and his name being in articles. He’s not into hours of work of training. He’s got some raw talents, but he won’t cultivate it. I gave him six months,” Kane predicted. They turned one last time. “Hey who is that?” Olivia asked. Kane saw Roselyn and a man ontop of her. Kane saw Roselyn trying to get away, but the boy wasn’t letting her. Kane felt rage overcome him. “What the f**k is going on here!” Kane roared and grabbed the boy by the neck and lifted him off the ground. It was like he blacked out from rage until he felt Rose touching him on the shoulder. “Kane, please let him go.” Kane turned and saw Rose looking at him pleadingly. They said a few words and she convinced him to let the man go. Kane watched the little weasel run off, and then followed the girls into the dorm room. Kane looked around the room, and felt even larger as he stood there in the small room. Kane sat down on his sisters bed as his sister sat with Rose on hers. “Did you know that man?” Olivia asked Rose. Rose nodded, “We went to high school together.” “Were you friends?” Olivia asked. Rose stayed silent for awhile, “I thought we were friends, but he was just using me to get good grades to get into college.” Rose took a breath, “They didn’t have to humiliate me like they did though.” “What do you mean?” Kane asked getting mad all over again. Rose looked up, seeming shocked that he was still there. “Think Carrie, just with less murder,” Rose said quietly, and started crying. Kane stood up, and left the room. He couldn’t stand to see her crying. Kane didn’t like what he was feeling. Hell he didn’t like that he was feeling at all. He didn’t know what to do from here.
