Chapter 6

2569 Words
Harmony "Hello." "What is your name?" The nearly identical males asked. They must be twins. They looked so familiar. "H-hi. Hi...I'm Harmony." I swallowed nervously. "Who are you?" I asked, looking between both men as they continued to stalk closer and closer until they were practically in my breathing space. "It's nice to meet you, Harmony." The one with shorter, well-kept light brown hair said. He looked like a professional. One that you would want to strip down and see how unprofessional they could be...I took notice right away that his left eye was blue, but his right green. It was...mesmerizing. "My name is Levi. I am alpha king of the north." He smiled softly, taking my hand in his and giving it a soft kiss. "And I, my beautiful queen, am Alexander, Xander for short, alpha king of the east." He said, his pointer finger curling under my chin, beckoning me to stare up into his equally mesmerizing contrasting eyes. His left eye was green and his right was blue. His hair was a darker brown and a bit shaggy, but in the most seductive looking way possible. I think I stopped breathing. Their smells. Their voices. Their touch. The bond. Oh goddess help me. My legs buckled and I was waiting for the awful landing on the hard tile floors, but it never came. I realized then that both men had caught me before I had the chance to fall. They had both amused and concerned looks on their faces. "Why don't I grab you some water?" Levi said, heading over to the mini fridge where we kept complementary bottles of water. "Why don't you sit down?" Xander added, guiding me over to a waiting room chair. "Thanks." I managed to squeak out, my head spinning. Xander got down on both knees before me and I thought I might melt right then and there. He took off my shoes and squeezed my feet gently to get blood moving through me again, while Levi came over, cracking open the bottle of water and handing it to me before taking a seat next to me, placing a cool washcloth on my neck. When and where did he even get that?! I knew very little of both men. I probably knew slightly more about Xander just because he was technically my king, though I had never gone to the palace or participated in any functions held there. I knew they were twins, and they were gifted, but not much else past that. "Except that they were perhaps carved by the moon goddess herself," Hadley cooed. I tried not to stare, but it was so difficult. So, so difficult. They both seemed to be preoccupied, having a silent conversation right in front of me. A bit of worry flared in me. My mates were powerful, very powerful. We just met, and I have no clue what their expectations of me are. Will they reject me for not being a high-ranking member of society? I doubted it based on how well they are caring for me right now. But on the flip side, would they try to forcibly take me? Mark me? I certainly wanted them, and quickly closed my legs together at the thought, but I wanted to get to know them before I potentially became their personal play thing. Would they want a relationship with me? Or just use me as a breeder and toy? Some wolves were very primal and old school. How would that work anyway? They lived in separate kingdoms. Would I be tossed back and forth? Would they even want to share me? Did I want to allow both men to share me? Or would things end in a bloodbath between the two twins? "Yessss." Hadley purred, only making my anxiety fly through the roof even more. "Harmony, dear, we can feel you panicking." Levi said softly. "We won't bite...unless you want us to." Xander said smoothly with a wink. I nearly threw up. "This is a lot," I declared. "I have a lot of questions." "We will gladly answer anything you ask." Levi said, his words bringing my panic down from a ten to an eight. "We can go somewhere more public, if you wish." Xander added, his eyes studying my tense features no doubt. "Yeah...yes." I nodded. "There is a diner down the street, open twenty-four seven." "I'll drive." Xander nodded, putting my shoes back on my feet. Levi helped me to stand, and we silently made our way to the diner. I sat rigid the entire two-minute car ride. They were freaking kings, and they were my mate for goddess’ sake! Levi helped me out of the car and Xander held the door open for me as we entered the diner. They seemed to be perfectly in sync with each other, it somehow made me feel more at ease. Enough so that I began to chuckle to myself but stopped short, when I saw Levi and Xander try to squeeze into the booth, their bodies and muscles a bit bigger than the average werewolf. They sat together on one side and I sat on the other. I was grateful for the space, even though it wasn't much. "Hello Harmony, brought some friends with you tonight?" Diane asked, her face falling when she saw who was actually sitting across from me. "Goddess forgive me." She blanched. "My kings, how might I serve you?" She asked, trying to bow but struggling to do so with her bad back. She was an older shewolf, but refused to retire. She thinks if she retires, she will go mad with boredom. "We will have whatever she is having." Levi nodded politely. "Three chocolate shakes and three cheeseburgers, extra fries coming up." She said nervously, shuffling to the back and practically yelling at the chef to make the food flawless. She probably thought she was whispering. The poor thing is hard of hearing, so her whisper is more of a regular tone of voice. I didn't dare tell her, or my mates, that I wasn't very hungry, having just come from a dinner date. Goddess help me! "You are a regular here." Xander said, not a question, but a statement. "Yeah...it's good for when I work on call," I said quietly. "We want you to know, there are no...expectations." Levi said, as if reading the underlying questions in my mind. "We want you, but not until you are comfortable with us." Xander added. I nodded; my mouth dry. Thankfully, Diane came over with some water and napkins. I gulped down my glass and Xander slid his drink my way for me to claim. "Thank you." I said, taking another big gulp. "The man at the clinic, who was he?" Xander asked, an unreadable look on his face. His eyes darted to my mouth and I felt like I was being gutted on the table. I felt like he knew we had kissed, like he could see it on my face. "Cody. He is a vet like me," I said quietly. "I hired him several years back." "That is your business?" Levi asked. "Yes-" "Are you sleeping with him? Or anyone, for that matter?" Xander cut in. "Are you seeing anyone?" Levi shot him a murderous glare but didn't stop me from answering. "I'm a virgin." I said, shifting uncomfortably in my seat. "Cody and I went on one date, just before you two arrived. But I don't see him pursuing me." I half laughed, seeing the muscles of my mates and feeling the dominating aura seeping from them. No man would dare. No smart man anyway. "I have been busy building my business, so relationships always took a backseat." I squirmed under their unreadable expressions. "And now?" Xander asked. "That your business is established?" Levi finished the thought. "...I am open to a relationship," I said just above a whisper. "...Or two." I added with a small smile and a crimson red blush. Both men smiled from ear to ear, making my heart swell. "King Levi, King Xander, Harmony, your food." Diane said, setting our food down with shaky hands. "Thank you." Xander smiled. "Of course...if any of you need anything, I am at your service." She said nervously. "We will keep that in mind," Levi said, as a way to excuse her. She nodded and scurried off, thankful no doubt that the kings seemed pleased enough. "Harmony, darling, I would like to invite you to see my palace tomorrow if you are free?" Levi asked. "Are you trying to throw her to the wolves?" Xander frowned. "Most of our family lives there. It might be better if you came to see my palace first." He shot back. I could feel the tension beginning to rise between the two brothers. "I have work tomorrow...so maybe some other time." I said with a cringe. "Right." "Right." They said, a nod of understanding. "Are you free this weekend?" Xander asked. "Or tomorrow night?" Levi countered. "I am." I nodded, a smile pulling at my lips from both my mate's persistence. "Perhaps we could go out on a date, get to know you more?" Levi continued. "That would be nice." I blushed, looking down at my food finally. "We can discuss details tomorrow." Xander cut in. "Let's eat." We dug in, quietly munching on our food. My mind was in overdrive as Levi and Xander kept staring at me, silent conversations passing between them. I had so many questions, I finally decided to interrupt the peace. "Is this weird for you guys?" They exchanged a look before Xander spoke. "We are twins, it's not surprising that we have a shared mate, not to me anyway." He said, shooting a hostile look at Levi. "But we have never shared a relationship before." "Oh." I nodded, keeping my own thoughts to myself, picking up a fry and looking it over as if it were the most interesting thing in the room. "This must be overwhelming for you," Levi said softly. "It's a lot to take in, no doubt." I said, setting my fry down. "I was not expecting to have twin mates. Let alone the kings of the north and east." "Your head must be spinning." Xander said. "Yeah, just a little." I laughed. "I think I just need some time to process." "That is reasonable." Levi nodded. "We will answer any questions you might have, no matter the time or day." Xander threw in. "Thank you, both of you, for being so understanding." "You are our mate," Xander said. "We would do anything for you," Levi added. "Would you mind taking me back to the clinic?" I asked sheepishly. "I'll drive." Levi said. And with that, we were off. Xander paid and left a hefty tip and then Levi drove us back down the road, me in the passenger seat, Xander in the back. It was a quiet ride, a quick one too. I was thankful considering I was holding my breath in the car most of the drive, careful not to breathe in too much of their scents. I was afraid I might combust on the spot if I did. Or leave a wet spot on the passenger seat. What a way to meet your mate, 'hey nice to meet you, sorry I got so turned on and just made a mess on your seat...' No. That would not be me, not today, no matter how tempting these two were. "Thanks for the ride." I said, my hand reaching for the door. Xander was very quick, darting out of the car and opening it for me, helping me out. My legs were like jelly. "Are you okay?" Xander asked. "Why don't I drive you home?" "Oh, you really don't have to." "Nonsense," Levi pressed. "I will follow behind, and we won't stay." "We are worried about your...focus right now." Xander said, his eyes darting down only for a split second, a knowing look in them. Goddess, could he smell my arousal?! "Finding out you have two mates is a lot." "Okay." I gulped and nodded, my legs nearly giving out again. Goddess, when did I become such a swooning teenage pup? "About half a second after you met your mates," Hadley snickered. I ignored her and Xander took my keys, helping me into the passenger seat before rounding the car and hoping in the driver's seat, adjusting it to accommodate his height. "So Harmony, what are your interests? What do you do for fun?" Xander asked as he started the car. I was thankful for the normal conversation starter. "I like gardening in my free time, which is few and far between," I snorted. "I used to help my mom with her garden growing up, it wrapped around almost the entire house. I just have a small garden bed now, at my house. But even that is more than I can handle some years." "You spent a lot of time in school, I take it?" "Yeah." I scoffed. "More than a lot. Becoming a vet was easy, becoming a vet for supernatural beings was...hard. There are very few classes that actually teach someone how to care for supernatural beings." "Why is that?" Xander asked. "Well, for one, most people are under the assumption that supernatural animals don't get hurt or sick, which is very wrong. And two, there are so many complex beings, most who teach the classes only know about a handful of creatures. I thankfully came across a man who knew a lot about a lot, and he trained me for two very long years while I was also getting my business up and running." "What is your favorite type of animal?" "Hmm...probably a wolf, but I think I'm a bit biased." I smirked, shooting Xander a look. He smiled. "What do you know about dragons?" "Dragons?" I echoed. He knows. No, he can't possibly know. "I know some. Why?" "My brother and I suspect that one is loose, and terrorizing our lands. We found a scale that we believe to be that of a dragon. Perhaps we could come to visit you at work tomorrow and discuss the matter?" "Sure, yeah." I nodded. "I have lunch at noon, if that is okay?" "Perfect." Xander smiled, reaching over to me and grabbing my hand. "Perfect." I sighed in relief. The rest of the ride was wildly uneventful, thankfully. Xander and I made small talk and I began to relax around him just as he pulled into my driveway. He and Levi wished me a good night and left without asking to come in. Not that I would have said no, they are my mates after all, but if they came inside, I wondered if I would have said no to anything else they asked. My resolve on the matter isn't exactly very high right now. But I knew I wanted to get to know them more before we ventured down the dangerously complicated road of intimacy. "What's complicated about it? You have three holes." Hadley deadpanned. I thought I might die at the mere thought. But no, instead I tossed and turned all night, thinking and overthinking and thinking again about my mates. Until I finally grabbed my little pink silicone friend from my nightstand and worked out some of my frustration. Hopefully, tomorrow will bring me some peace.
