POV
I was lying in bed next to Chloe, she was asleep. I explained to her how a woman from the shelter was staying at my house. I explained how she needed a break from her abusive boyfriend, I also told her I was helping her find her son. I always believe if you lie stay as close to the truth as you possibly can, and I wasn’t lying for my own benefit but because I was protecting her from the horrors of my world.
I hear my phone buzzing on the bedside table. I reach for it. Seeing it is Prince it means he has an update for me on those houses he was looking into for me.
I slowly get out of bed and walk across the room to the door. The last thing I wanted was to wake her. I reach for the doorknob.
“Phil??” I hear a sleepy Chloe call for me
