The Alpha King and His Fated Protector

CHAPTER NINE

ELINA

I feel my whole body sore, but as soon as I hear my mother's cry I am aware that if I do not transform completely , I will die, and if I die my parents and my brothers will suffer a lot and that is something that I will never allow, so I try to remember the training with my alpha and using all my feelings, positive and negative , I let my wolf come to the surface to take over my whole being, I feel the bones break and stretch, I feel them rejoin, and my body changes so quickly that it almost seems as if I have never been human, when I land on the ground , I do it on all fours instead of two , and I know from the expression on my family's face, that they would never have expected my complete transformation .

Silence spreads across the palace grounds, and I am not fully aware of what is happening at first, because although I know that my transformation was total , I cannot understand why everyone seems overwhelmed when they see me, and only when I stand fully upright is that I notice with surprise how all the wolves that a few seconds ago were attacking me now look so small , which makes everything seem unreal , because when I was in my half transformation form, these same wolves that now look like ordinary dogs, seemed like enormous beasts that were impossible to defeat, but now they don't look so threatening , and a wave of confidence and superiority wash over me as I watch them all closely.

I know that I could easily subdue them, I know that with a growl I could make them lean towards me and stop attacking me , but I also know from the look on the face of the king's mother, who has her mouth open in surprise and wild eyes, that if I dared to subdue the wolves using my alpha aura , they would do everything in their power to get rid of me , since they have always considered me a threat to the reign of Bastian Vark; so I just grunt and show my fangs to the wolves around me , and almost like magic, many of them turn and try to start fights with each other , almost as if they are ignoring the fact that I am in front to them.

But not all of them turn around, about four wolves, the largest of the group of twenty except for me , remain in front of me growling and waving their front legs in defiance, and it does not take long to start attacking the four at the same time , but by this time most of my superficial wounds have already healed almost completely, and the deeper wounds on my leg and chest no longer hurt as much, so I prepare to fight them as quickly as possible , causing them to fall one by one, some with an eerie screech, some with a thud, and the last one simply surrenders at the last minute , so I stop my attack and let him return to his bloodied, human form.

A few minutes later, the fight boils down to only twelve wolves, so I know I only have to defeat two more to secure my place in the elite warrior group , however, none of the wolves seem to want to face me, and I don’t know if I should attack them first , when the powerful voice of the king's mother is heard loud and clear from the rostrum:

" Whoever refuses to fight will be automatically eliminated from the competition, "

And with that, it was enough for the eleven wolves that remained standing to pounce on me almost at the same time , in a cloud of claws and fangs that I try to avoid with all my might, but although it is much easier with my complete transformation , that does not prevents me from receiving bites and claws that manage to stain my white and brown fur with blood , and I cannot help but let out some shrieks of pain, but in the middle of everything I must remind myself that I cannot let my wolf take full control of my thoughts , otherwise she could wipe out half the people present, and with my family's obvious show of affection today , I know that any misstep I take today would put them in danger as well.

So, I put all my willpower to control my movements and thus only incapacitate two of them, the two weakest , so that the ten winners remain standing and no one else has to suffer the consequences of this bloody competition anymore , a quick scan of the place makes me notice the lifeless bodies of at least three people, one in the first stage and another two in the third , so I try not to seriously injure anyone else, and when the two that were left to complete the equation fall, at last, I stop completely and turn my head towards the king , almost asking him to declare the competition over, but no one in the gallery seems to be willing to stop it, since they need a definitive winner after all.

I realize this almost at the same time as the other nine wolves, and that is when the attacks start again, with more bites , more claws, and more blows, which although they are weakening me, they cannot stop me or do me as much damage as the one that I am causing the others and they know it, so in the end, some just end up throwing themselves to the ground with a squeak , pretending they can't fight me anymore, until in the end there are only three wolves left standing, and these last two seem to be alphas too , but not only that, but they seem to have as their main objective to hurt me as much as they can, and they almost manage to weaken me enough to take advantage , but I stop them with a great blow that sends them away, leaving me alone in the middle of the arena , covered with dirt and blood and with impaired breathing.

The screams are deafening, especially those of my family and my pack, who are screaming and jumping with excitement , while the king seems genuinely surprised and the king's mother seems to be about to have a stroke, they clearly did not expect me to win, and that is why they let me participate , but now that I am the last one standing, their faces reflect my own fear for having come so far , as that means that now I will be one of the seven wolfs in the king’s personal guard.
