Chapter 2: You came early today

Rija removed her headset as soon as she came out of the villa, she only wears it when she is with her parents.

“Good morning, Uncle James”, Rija greeted the middle-aged driver.

“Good morning, Baby Rija”, driver James replied and opened the passenger seat door for Rija.

Rija took a sip of hot chocolate and sat inside the car. The driver James closed the door and sat in the driver's seat and started the car. On their way, Rija and the driver James kept on chatting happily.

After 25 minutes the car stopped at the entrance of the Miller’s garments main building. Rija took the last sip of hot chocolate and placed the cup on the cup holder before getting out of the car.

“Bye Uncle James”, Rija waved before going in.

“Bye Baby Rija”, driver James said before starting the car and leaving.

Rija was in good mood she entered and greeted the receptionist with a bright smile, “Good Morning, Catty”.

Catty replied with the same bright smile, “Good Morning Rija.”.

Rija went straight to the fourth floor, to pick the photocopies of the documents then she went to the sixth floor where her office is located.

She went directly to the manager’s office. She knocked on the door and after receiving the permission she went in.

“Good Morning, Mr. Smith.”, Rija greeted the middle-aged man who was busy with the computer.

Mr. Smith smiled at Rija and replied, “Morning, Lady you came early today.”.

Rija placed the photocopies on his table and replied, “Yes Mr. Smith. You told me yesterday that you need these photocopies before 9:00 a.m. the photocopy machine on our floor is broken I informed Jenny she said she will get it to fix but it will take two days as the worker is on leave. So, I went to the fourth floor to get these documents printed. I requested them to do it but at that time they were already doing some photocopies so they said they will do it later and I can pick it in the morning. that’s why I came early to deliver these documents on time.”.

Mr. Smith looked at the document and was satisfied with Rija’s work, “You never delay anything.”, then he looked at her seriously and said, “Sit down for a minute I want to discuss something with you.”.

Rija sat down and asked, “What is it about? Mr. Smith”.

“Rija I am very happy with your work.”, Mr. Smith praised her.

“That you Mr. Smith. I am also very honored to work under you.”, Rija replied sincerely.

“Rija your internship is about to end in two days. HR asked me about your report. I have submitted your internship report. But I am looking forward to hiring you as a full-time employee once your internship ends.”, Mr. Smith replied.

“Mr. Smith I am honored to hear that you want to hire me but as you are aware that I am going to apply for specialization. I really want to complete my specialization before starting a proper job.”, Rija replied.

“Hmm, ok but remember when you complete your specialization you must contact me. I don’t want to lose a talent like you.”, Mr. Smith said sincerely.

“I will Mr. Smith. Thank you”, Rija replied.

“Ok, go back to your seat. Mike will tell you about your next task once he comes.”, Mr. Smith said.

“Yes, Mr. Smith”, Rija said and went to her seat.

As soon as she turns on her computer her mobile rang, she looked at the screen and Harry’s name flash on it. She picked it up, “Hey dad”.

“Hi princess, sorry about the morning. Because of your mom, I was not able to greet you properly.”, Harry apologized with guilt.

“It’s ok dad. I can understand you both saw each other after 6 months so it’s normal to ignore me when your lovely wife is around.”, although Rija felt heartbroken to see her parents not caring about her and fighting like a madman she did not show any sadness to Harry.

Harry did not know what to say about it, so he decided to change the topic, “If I remember it correctly your internship is going to end in the next two days. Am I right?”, Harry said.

“Yes, it will”, Rija was glad her father knows something about her.

“So, what are your plans after it?”, Harry asked.

“Going to apply for specialization.”, Rija replied and opened her mailbox on the computer.

“Are you planning to go abroad?”, Harry asked.

“Yes”, Rija replied.

“OK, good so all the best.”, Harry said.

“Thank you”, Rija replied flatly.

Harry did not know what else to say so he decided to end the call, “Ok, then I will be out for a week. We will have diner together after I come back ok.”.

“Ok”, Rija replied.

“Ok, bye then”, Harry said.

“Bye”, Rija replied and hung up. She felt sadder after Harry’s call. They are father and daughter, but they never have something to talk about. She never has a call with her father for more than 3 minutes. But still, it’s better than her mother who has never called her, and whenever Rija called her Freya’s secretary always has the same answer for her, ‘Your mother is in a meeting.’

Rija shook her head, placed the mobile on the table, and continued with her work.

"Good Morning, Rija", a handsome boy came and greeted Rija with a charming smile.

"Good Morning, Senior", Rija replied with a smile.

"God RIja your internship will end in two can't you just call me Mike instead of senior.", Mike made a grumpy face.

"Nope, I am still an intern and you are my senior. so I will call you senior. senior", Rija said with a mischievous smile.

"God stubborn. Fine say whatever you want to say. Here your task is to translate this file into English and French.", Mike said and place a file on Rija's table.

Rija is not a born genius but because of her parent's negligence and continued depressed family environment she kept on doing extra courses and activities to keep herself distracted. She has learned five languages and other skills these skills are the main reason she had successfully got an internship at one of Miller's offices. It is well known that it is very difficult to enter Miller's offices. Although her grandfather asked his friend Mr. Miller who is the elder of Miller's Family to give her a chance her abilities and skills proved that she was worth this chance.

"Ok, I will do it. when you need this file.", Rija asked.

"Well let me think. If you call me Mike you can submit it tomorrow morning. If you still call me senior then don't go home before completing this task.", Mike said with a wicked smile.

Rija raised her eyebrows and with a professional smile she replied, "I will submit it today before going home. Rest assure SENIOR.".

"Whatever", Mike pouted and left.

Rija laughed lightly and continued to look into the mailbox. After going through all her emails she looked at the file Mike gave her. she was about to pick it but suddenly a beautiful hand slapped on the file.

Rija was startled she looked up to see who's hand, is it.

As soon as she looked up she saw a girl whose face was caked up with a lot of make-up looking at her furiously.

Rija rolled her eyes in her heart and thought, 'Not again. Why is she so free to find trouble with me.'.

Rija forced a smile and asked professionally, "Senior, is there anything I can do for you?".

The girl was Sania, she was also RIja's senior, she sneered got close to Rija, and shouted in Rija's ear, "Yes, stay away from my Mike.".

Rija rubbed her ear and stood up, she was not someone who can be bullied easily, she just doesn't want to create a scene at the workplace but Sania always crosses her line. With a grumpy face said, "Senior, I don't know what your problem is I already told you that my relationship with Senior Mike is just a relationship between co-workers so please stop making a fuss about everything.".

Sania sneered, "am I making the fuss. Please Rija keep your acting skills for someone else. You can't fool me. I am warning you to stay away from Mike. Or I will make your last two days in office miserable.".

Rija rolled her eyes and replied, "Do whatever you want Senior. I don't have anything t do with Senior Mike except work but if you still don't believe it I can't do anything.".

Sania became angrier to see Rija's behavior she wanted to slap her but before she could Mr. Smith came out of his office and shouted at Rija and Sania, "What's going on? WHy you two are shouting?".

Sania saw Mr. Smith and made a sad face, "Dad .. .", but before she could complete her sentence Mr. Smith interrupted her, "Ms. Smith this is working hours and right now I am your boss, not your dad..".

Sania felt more wrong, she lowered her head and complained, "Mr. Smith, I just wanted to explain something to RIja but she refused to listen. She said she is only going to listen to MIke no one else. That's why I became angry and lost my composure. I'm sorry.".

Rija cursed Sania in her heart, she thought, 'Damn this girl can lie so perfectly.'.

Rija wanted to explain but before she could Mr. SMith opened his mouth, "Ms. Smith I assigned RIja to work under Mike. If she says she will only listen to him she is not saying anything wrong. I think you have two interns to head too. It would be better you focus on them then on Rija.".

Rija felt happy to hear it she looked at Sania with a meaningful smile. Sania was dumbfounded by Mr. Smith's words and when she saw Rija's smile she became more furious.

She looked at Mr. Smith, "But ..".

"That's it go back to your work everyone.", Mr. SMith shouted impatiently.

Reluctantly Sania went back to her desk and Rija also sat on chair and continued her work. WHen Mr. SMith saw that they both has started working her left.

Sania looked at RIja and whispered, "You bit*h, you robbed my dad and now you want to rob Mike too. I will never let you do that. You just wait I will make you regret challenging me.".
