Hera was terrified but she didn't move an inch. This man standing in front of her had the same scent as the wolf with red eyes and until she had her answers and understood what was going on, she wouldn't back down.
It looked like Rune wasn't ready to tell her the color of his eyes when he was in his wolf form and that fact rubbed her the wrong way that she just began to say everything that was on her mind.
“Look, something strange happened in the woods yesterday. I ran into a wolf with red eyes and it had an unforgettable scent. Something unexplainable happened with that wolf and I have to find out who it is no matter what.”
Rune crossed his arms over his chest. “Well what does it have to do with me?”
“Believe it or not, Alpha King but you have the same scent as that wolf and I need to know why,” She said in a hard voice and the king raised his eyebrows at her tone.
She gulped and quickly bowed her head. “Your Majesty.” She answered and Rune scoffed.
He shrugged, seemingly unbothered. “It’s not a big deal actually. It's pretty common for werewolves to have similar scents.”
Her eyes widened and she looked up at him. “Really?”
“Yes.”
“So the wolf with red eyes could be anybody?” She asked with her eyes never leaving his.
“Definitely.”
The king seemed relaxed but Hera couldn't help but feel like he was hiding something from her and she couldn't tell why she felt that way but she tried really hard to ignore the feeling and chose to believe him instead.
Before she could say anything else, the king turned around and started toward the door and she let out a gasp as her eyes went wide with surprise.
“Where are you going?!” She exclaimed and he halted but didn't turn around to face her.
“I'm a king, Hera. I don't have as much free time as you do.” He said and his condescending tone heated up her insides and not with pleasure but with pure, undiluted anger.
“It's not like you gave me a choice! I'm in here because you commanded it so! I'm in here because you wouldn't let me out!” Hera yelled and she was well aware that she was yelling at the Alpha King but she couldn't bring herself to care.
She was so pissed off that she couldn't even see reason and she stomped her feet on the ground like a spoiled child. “Let me out of here!” She growled but despite her antics, Rune ignored her and simply walked out of her room.
Hera's entire body trembled with rage now. She was imprisoned in this goddamn place, she couldn't get that damn wolf out of her head and that damn scent wouldn't stop invading her nostrils.
Her teeth grinded noisily in her mouth as she stomped over to a large table at the center of the table, flipping it over.
Hera was one that almost never got mad or upset about things. She was always reasonable and calm and even sometimes, a little bit too calm but ever since she came to Blood-stone, there seemed to be a build up of emotions inside her which she couldn't control.
Realizing what she had done in a fit of rage, she gasped at the flipped over table. She needed to cool off before she ended up damaging the whole chamber. She stalked over to the bathroom and opened the shower over her body with her clothes still on.
The cold water cascaded over her body, clearing her head slightly and when she felt calm enough, she turned off the shower and made her way out of the bathroom and into the room.
She stripped off her soaked clothes, dried her body and changed into more comfortable clothes before getting into bed, under the covers.
She let out a huge sigh as warmth seeped into her body and soul. The room was eerily silent and as a result, different thoughts popped into her head. A wave of sadness drifted over her as she thought of her parents.
Lately, she had been so distracted by her transformation into a werewolf that she was beginning to forget why she really came here. To get revenge for them. To find and kill the three werewolves who murdered her parents in cold blood.
Her goal for revenge should come first. Her parents should always come first. Not the wolf with red eyes. Not the right and left-hand beta and certainly not the Alpha King.
Hera let out a sigh, relaxing deeply into the covers. Now that she was locked up in the chambers again, it was back to square one. Back to thinking and planning another way out of here.
The last time she broke out of here was in her wolf form. Should she try turning into a wolf once again? She quickly decided against it. She didn't know how.
The last time it happened, she forcefully shifted because of the full moon but now she had no clue how to do it willingly and the thought of all her bones breaking and rearranging themselves terrified the s**t out of her.
How the hell was she supposed to go through all that excruciating pain willingly?
And besides, after breaking down the door the last time, which had been replaced before she regained her consciousness by the way, she knew it would have been reinforced and the security would have been tightened.
She might not be able to get out of here in her wolf form or in human form.
She ran her fingers through her hair, letting out a frustrated sigh. She had no choice. She would have to ask Knox and Asha for help. They were willing to plead her case with the Alpha King and maybe this time, they would be willing to help her escape.
But there was only one important question to ask. Would the betas be willing to go against their king and break her out of here?
